ALUMINIUM
Aluminium is a silvery white member of the boron group of chemical elements. It has the symbol al and its atomic number is 13. It makes up about 8% by weight of the earth's solid surface. Aluminium is too reactive chemically to occur in nature as a free metal. Instead, it is found combined in over 270 different minerals. The chief source of aluminum is bauxite ore. Aluminium is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. Structural components made from aluminum and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are very important in other areas of transportation and building.

Application of hypermesh software
Altair HyperMesh is a high-performance finite-element pre-processor for popular finite-element solvers. It allows engineers to analyze product design performance in a highly interactive and visual environment. HyperMeshs user interface is easy to learn and supports a number of CAD geometry and finite-element model file formats, thereby increasing interoperability and efficiency. Advanced functionality within Hypermesh allows users to efficiently manipulate geometry and mesh highly complex models. These functionalities include extensive meshing and model control, morphing technology to update existing meshes to new design proposals and automatic mid-surface generation for complex designs with varying wall thicknesses. Solid geometry enhances tetra-meshing and hexa-meshing by reducing interactive modeling times, while batch meshing enables large scale meshing of parts with no manual clean-up and minimal user input.
Procedure
CAD Model of wing skin dimension developed using CATIA V5
Fe Model
The IGES format of the CAD Model is imported into Hyper mesh .FE modeling of the wing skin is carried using Hyper mesh and element type for the analysis is updated in the Hyper mesh. The following Figure shows the FE Model of the wing skin created using Hyper mesh.
