* What is Transportation * Classification of transportation * Modes of Transportation

Presented by : ZULFADHLI BIN KAMARUDIN

The movement of people, goods or foods from one place to another. By air, rails, roads, cables, water, and also space. Can be further classified as : a. Public b. Private transport ( depending on the country and modes of transport)

Classification of Transport
PUBLIC
Affordable for all groups of people Everyone can use it Available in large numbers Eg : buses, ferries, railroads, vans

PRIVATE
Exclusive : only those who can afford can enjoy the ride Comfortable Saves time Satisfaction guaranteed Eg : cars, small trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, aeroplanes, star cruise

Automobiles Ferry, star cruise, boats, yatchs

Bicycle

Aircrafts

Modes of Transportation

Buses

Helicopter

Trucks

Trains / monorels

TRANSFORMATION OF TRANSPORTATION CONFLICT BETWEEN HUMAN BEING AND GNP PRESENTER: NURUL AQIDAH BINTI MOKLIS

PAST WALKING (PEDESTRIANS), CYCLING, ANIMAL-POWERED TRANSPORT, CANOE AND RAFT, LIMITED PUBLIC TRANSPORT-BUS. CHEAPER . DO NOT USE FOSSIL FUEL IN A HIGH RATE . RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUMAN AND ENVIRONMENT: CLOSELY : - KNOW WHO IN OUR SURROUNDING. - OBSERVE OUR ENVIRONMENT. - ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.

PRESENT MOTORIZATION: AUTOMOBILES, AIRCRAFT, TRAINS, BUSES AND TRUCKS. COMFORTABLE BUT EXPENSIVE. ABLE TO MOVE AT A VERY FAST RATE. USE HIGH POWER ENGINE WITH HIGH FOSSIL FUEL. PRODUCING SMOKE AND CAUSES POLLUTION. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HUMAN AND ENVIRONMENT: CREATE BAD ATTITUDE-SELFISH AND DID NOT CARE ABOUT OTHERS. NO INTERACTION WITH OTHERS. ONLY FOCUS ON DRIVING USE LARGE AMOUNT OF LANDHIGHWAYS

Gender - male and female. - Have a differences of demand ,needs and desires. - Have a differences of choice : Modes of transport Brands and size of transport

Age youth, adults and older. Suitability of transport based on age. Different needs of vehicles: Youth-preferred the brand and modified it to make it looks superb. Adults- preferred the transport based on their income and ability Older people with limited mobility : Appropriate transport for older people with limited mobility and at risk of social exclusion.

Races - Discrimination based on races: Black and White people white people get a first class serve black people are neglected. Black and minority ethnic groups : Some groups more likely to be low-income; socio-cultural barriers sometimes a barrier to travelling and using public transport. Some groups likely to be fearful of using public transport because of personal security issues.

- Lifestyle : Europe have a modern lifestyle - up to date about latest products of transportation (car). Eastern-have a standard lifestyle -use modes of transport based on affordability

Classes or status - Capitalist (rich man): high income, small family but have a large transport , exclusive and comfortable. - labour (poor man) : lower income, big family but they only use a public transport, cannot afford to have their own vehicles.

Accessibility Disabled person (OKU) Difficult to find a suitable vehicle. different of defects so, cannot provide a specific vehicles for them. Facilities for the disable in public transport is limited

Transportation Oriented Development (T.O.D)

TOD seeks to set a pleasant relationship between node and place, neighborhood and region, or house and job. This relationship is normally and mainly meant to be provided by urban transportation.

TODs are mixed-use, dense neighborhoods around public transit stations. The main aim is to encourage people to use public transit instead of personal cars.
This is done through optimal use of public transport and urban form. Powerful transportation facilities like urban trains, trams, and buses are used in urban and regional scales and also most of the house are tried to be located within the walking distance of the transit stations.

THE MAIN GOALS OF T.O.D

1. Organize growth on a regional level to be compact and transit-supportive. 2.Place commercial, housing, jobs, parks, and civic uses within walking distance of transit stops.

3. Create pedestrian-friendly street networks which directly connect local destinations. 4. Provide a mix of housing types, densities, and costs.
5. Make public spaces the focus of building orientation and neighborhood activity. 6. Encourage infill and redevelopment along transit corridors within existing neighborhoods.

COUNTRY THAT APPLIES THE CONCEPT OF TRANSIT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT (T.O.D)

Sweden Japan

German Korea

France
United states

Increase in national wealth

Development of agriculture

Economies of large scale production

Discovery of new lands

Mobility of labor and capital

THE POSITIVE SIDE OF TRANSPORTATION

High standard of living

Air pollution exposure

THE NEGATIVE

Health risk

SIDE OF TRANSPORTATION

Traffic congestion

Accidents and breakdown

Advanced technologies - no of vehicles congestion travel time/delays fuel consumption polluted air destruction of habitat extinction of floras and faunas.

Quantitative

Increse in GNP - More automobiles are produced. People are becoming very distinct from natural form. Technologies changes our lifestyle.

Qualitative

Pollutions due to increase in transportation on roads. Changes the environment and relationship between human beings. Expected no. of accidents.

What is meant by sustainable transport ? Why there is a need to have and practice using the sustainable transport ? How are we going to promote sustainability transportation to public ?

A holistic commitment to ecological sustainability and transports role therein, which entails fundamental changes to our social, economic and industrial systems.

The gradual reshaping of our social and economic expectations of what our transport systems should be, what we should demand of them, and how we should use them.

The reduction of negative environmental impacts within the sector.

Sustainable transport

Not solely focuses in increasing the GNP, but also protecting the environment from further human destruction.

Increase in ownership for transportation. Increase in petrol prices scarce of fossil fuels. Air pollution. To conserve the environment, floras and faunas.

Accelerate the introduction of cleaner fuels and more efficient vehicle technologies across the transport fleet.

Give priority to and promote investment in and use of transport modes that are less carbon and pollutant intensive in their manufacture and operation.

development and facilitate integrated land-use and transport planning to improve access, reduce the need to travel, and deliver urban environments that support walking, cycling and public transport.

How to Promote and deliver improved, more enhance passenger friendly public transport to sustainability reduce private car use. of our transportation Increase urban consolidation by system ? Educate the public and encouraging greater density of
stakeholder groups about sustainable transport and provide incentives to encourage change in our travel behaviour and transport expectations.

Transportation has benefits and its down side on the environment as well as human beings. Sustainable transportation does not mean that we are sacrificing the economic growth to reduce CO2, but taking climate change in the most cost-effective way possible. RICH AND DIRTY or POOR AND GREEN..the choice is in our hand.
