Pitched or sloping roofs:A pitched roof is a roof for which one or more roof surfaces is pitched more than 10 degrees,[1] and alternately a roof with two slopes that meet at a central ridge. Some definitions are even more general, including any roof with a sloping surface or surfaces. The term roof pitch (in roof construction) refers to the angle of a roof from the horizontal. The word pitch can also be used as a verb, i.e old roof framers refer to having to "pitch a roof." A variant of the pitched roof is the lean-to roof, a roof structure where the roof leans to one side of the house. Rafters are connected to the highest wall which are declined to a lower wall. The rafters are often connected into the wall individually or even supported on a wall plate bedded within the wall. This type of roof can have no joist at all or have a tie or have a joist with a strut to give more strength.

It may be a technique of decorative art, an aspect of interior decoration, or of cultural and spiritual significance as in a cathedral. Small pieces, normally roughly cubic, of stone or glass of different colors, known as tesserae, (diminutive tessellae), are used to create a pattern or picture.

Rubber flooring is flooring which is made from rubber. There are a number of different formats for rubber flooring, ranging from rubber tiles which are designed to be installed as a permanent flooring solution to rubber pads which can be overlaid onto existing flooring. Many flooring supply stores stock rubber flooring, along with samples for people to inspect before they commit to ordering and installing a rubber floor. The primary advantage of rubber flooring is that it is extremely springy. This makes it comfortable to walk, stand, and work on. Rubber flooring is often installed in environments like hospitals, retail stores, and kitchens because people spend a lot of time on their feet in these businesses, and a springy floor can make their work more comfortable. It also reduces the risk of injuries which can be caused by standing on hard flooring for extended periods of time. Rubber flooring specifically designed for the purpose of easing strain on the feet and legs is sometimes called anti-fatigue flooring. In companies which require static control, rubber flooring is a favored static control method, as it is nonconductive. Static control floors are often installed in companies which deal with electronics, as static can damage or ruin electronic components. In addition to installing rubber floors, these companies may also take other measures to reduce static. Bacteria resistance is another useful trait of rubber flooring. Because it resists bacteria, it can be used in operating rooms and other environments with a high risk of disease transmission. Rubber flooring may also be used in clean rooms like those in laboratories, ensuring that people are not at risk of catching the diseases they work with. This trait can also make rubber flooring a good choice for schools; it is also more pleasant to land on, an important consideration when working with people who have coordination difficulties. Many manufacturers of rubber flooring make flooring with sealants which are designed to help resist water and keep the flooring clean. These sealants also resist stains, although since most rubber flooring is black, stains often don't show up anyway. Whether or not a floor is sealed, rubber flooring may require special care; if you install a rubber floor in your home or business, make sure that you know how to care for it.

Linoleum (informally abbreviated to lino) is a floor covering made from renewable materials such as solidified linseed oil (linoxyn), pine rosin, ground cork dust, wood flour, and mineral fillers such as calcium carbonate, most commonly on a burlap or canvas backing; pigments are often added to the materials. The finest linoleum floors, known as 'inlaid', are extremely durable; they were made by joining and inlaying solid pieces of linoleum. Cheaper patterned linoleums came in different grades or gauges, and were printed with thinner layers which were more prone to wear and tear. Good quality linoleum is sufficiently flexible to be used in buildings in which more rigid material (such as ceramic tile) would crack
