Music and Social Issues
Pass out lyrics to any song that deals with social issues such as Upuan by Gloc 9 feat. Zelle Play the song and ask the following: What is the song about? What issues and ideas are presented? Why does the song begin and end when it does? Place students in groups of approximately 4. Tell students that they are going to write their own lyrics on an agreed upon social issue Have students individually brainstorm current social issues. Have group members share. Create a group stanza. Pass out transparency and have groups write new stanza. Each group will share / sing new stanza. Following the sharing have groups discuss rationale for events / issues included.

Media and Logic
Play a video of a TV advertisement: Colt 45 Ad Let the students determine fallacies in the said video. You can opt to break the class into discussion groups and let them present the summary of their discussion As an assignment, instruct them to pick a TV advertisement and look for fallacies in the said advertisement.

Soap Opera and Elements of a Story
Play an excerpt of My Amnesia Girl or the full movie. Let the students identify the elements of the story found in the video. Form the class into groups. Let them critique the video and let them determine the missing elements. let them present the summary of their discussion.

Grammar and Beauty Queen
Play the video of Q&A portion of Ms. Janina San Miguel. Let the students rephrase the answer of Janina using correct grammar.

Play an episode of the TV show Numb3rs Point out the mathematical concepts that were used in the film. Ask the students: How are the mathematical concepts applied in real life situations?

Covers and Music
Teachers can ask students to view the "original" song and the covers as musical and lyrical arguments. For example: We are the World- two versions Students can be directed to take notes on the following elements: Beat Tone Attitude Gender Ask them the following questions: What are the literal differences between the covers? What arguments are implied by these different versions? Why does the artist cover this particular song? How are the artists arguments supported?

Youtube and Values
Tell the students to log on to www.youtube.com and watch the episode of The Buzz wherein Ruffa walked out of the set. Know the opinions of your students regarding the issue in terms of ethics and morality. Ask the students: Who is right? Kris or Ruffa or Annabel? Defend your answer. Do they deserve be called professionals?
