What is Gaza?
Gaza (Arabic: Ghazza)is a Palestinian city in the Gaza Strip, with a population of about 410,000, making it the largest city in the Palestinian Territories.
OSLO ACCORDS
It was the first direct, face-to-face agreement between the government of Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). It was intended to be the first step for future negotiations and relations between the Israeli government and Palestinians.
The Accords finished wth the creation of a Palestinian National Authority (PNA). The Palestinian Authority would have responsibility for the administration of the territory under its control, with no control of Israel Defense Forces.
It was anticipated that this arrangement would last for a five-year interim period during which a permanent agreement would be negotiated (beginning no later than May 1996).
But nowadays.
In contrast, the West Bank has remained under military occupation, and it and the Gaza Strip are seen by the Palestinians and most of the international community as the site of a future Palestinian state. The UN Security Council has declared the incorporation of the Golan Heights and East Jerusalem to be "null and void" and continues to view the territories as occupied
NOWADAYS
The Flotilla was the ninth attempt by sea to breach the three-year-old blockade Israel and Egypt imposed after the militant Hamas group violently seized the Gaza Strip in 2007, home to 1.5 million Palestinians. Israel allowed five seaborne aid shipments to get through but snapped the blockade shut after its 2009 war in Gaza "This bloody massacre by Israel on ships that were taking humanitarian aid to Gaza deserves every kind of curse," (Turkey PM) said, demanding that Israel immediately halt its "inhumane" blockade of Gaza.
The blockade was imposed by Israel in 2007 after the militant group Hamas seized control of Gaza. It is designed to stop the smuggling of arms into the territory, the Israeli government says. Israel says the Gaza shoreline is closed to maritime traffic. Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said Israeli civilians were plagued a year ago by rockets and missiles fired from Gaza that originated in places like Iran and Syria.
