Introduction
v
Cell membrane helps maintain internal balance or homeostasis through cell transport. Cell Transport movement of substances in and out of a cell types: a) Active and b) Passive
Passive Transport
Diffusion
movement of molecules from a region of greater concentration to a less concentrated one until equilibrium
Osmosis
Osmosis
special type of diffusion mainly concerned with the movement of water in living systems
Osmosis
movement of water molecules across a semi-permeable membrane from an area of high water concentration (low solute concentration) to an area of low water concentration (high solute concentration).
Objectives
illustrate the process of diffusion in two different media, (b) demonstrate volume change as a consequence of osmosis, and (c) give the students the ability to predict the direction of diffusion and osmosis across membranes given the concentrations.
(a)
Methodology
A.
Diffusion in Water
B). Osmosis
longganisa skin
Medium
Distilled Water Tap Water
Osmosis

After 37.5 mL
Conclusion
Components of the medium affect the rate of diffusion. Water moves from a region of low solute concentration to a region of high solute concentration.
