Prior to his current position in Oakland, Dr. Castro-Moure earned an MD and completed a five-year residency in neurosurgery at the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia. Afterwards, Dr. Federico Castro-Moure relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where he served a research fellowship at the Henry Ford Hospital. His fellowship focused on stereotaxis, a minimally invasive surgical technique that utilizes imaging technology to operate on small targets within the body.
Dr. Federico Castro-Moure continued his study of stereotaxis at Detroit's Wayne State University, and then returned to Henry Ford Hospital to complete another clinical fellowship in stereotaxis and neuro-oncology. In 1996, he earned a PhD from Wayne State's Department of Anatomy and Molecular Biology. Dr. Castro-Moure belongs to several professional societies, including the Society for Neuroscience, the Colombian Neurological Society, the American Paraplegia Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of neurological Surgeons, and the National Neurotrauma Society.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Federico Castro-Moure has served as an instructor. At Wayne State University, he functioned as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Additionally, he has tutored and instructed on gross anatomy dissection, neuroanatomy, and head and neck anatomy. He current instructs medical students in neurological surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. Throughout his career, Dr. Castro-Moure has presented at several conventions and has published his research in professional journals. He presented on tereotactic computer-assisted resection of intracranial lesions at a meeting of the Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons and discussed head trauma management at a paramedic trauma update conference in California. His research has appeared in the Journal of Skull Base Surgery and the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine, among others.weniger sehen
