I received my undergraduate degree from the Virginia Military Institute in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2011. I have a recent conference paper published in the SciTech 2015 that is based on a condensed version of my masters thesis entitled: A Fully Parameterizable Implementation of Autonomous Takeoff and Landing For a Fixed Wing UAV.
During my three years at VCU, I was fortunate enough to work in a UAV research/integration lab where we modified RC aircraft and fitted them with all the necessary electronics for autonomous flight, along with designing both the hardware and software for flight control systems (FCS) specializing in autonomous flight.
My research was in autonomous takeoff and landing for UAVs. After the necessary hardware/software modifications were done to the given FCS, I tested my algorithms on a custom made hardware in the loop simulator that integrated flight dynamics from FlightGear. After successful completion of HILS missions, we would go and perform actual flight tests and validate algorithms.weniger sehen
