ACTVITIES ON BOILER MAINTENANCE

i. FURNACE
a. Inspection of the following parts:1. front wall tubes including the area of the burners.
2. side wall tubes including peephole area.
3. rear wall tubes including the boiler nose area.
4. furnace floor area.
b. Waterwashing to remove deposits from all the walls.
c. Repair the burner cell refractory.
d. Repair the furnace floor area.
e. Scaffolding erection in the furnace.
-124f. Cut the water wall tube for mechanical and chemical inspection.

g. Repair the water wall tubes.


h. Removal of fire bricks and refractory materials from furnace.

ii. SECONDARY SUPERHEATER & REHEA TER


a. Inspection of the following:1. secondary superheater tubes
2. screen tubes
3. secondary reheater tubes
4. manhole and sootblower area
5. boiler roof
b. Waterwshing of tubes
c. Removal of slag -by mechanical or chemical means
d. Replace or repair the tube

iii. HEAT RECOVERY AREA INCLUDING PRIMARY SUPERHEATER AND REHEATER


a. Inspection of the following:1 Primary superheater/reheater tubes

2 Screen tubes
3 Manhole area
4 Sootblower area
5 Economizer tubes
b. Removal of combustion products from the hopper
c. Water washing of HRA
d. Repair the expansion joint
e. Replace or repair the tubes
iv. FORCED DRAFT FAN DUCTING
a. Inspection of the following:1 FD fan suction screen
2. Steam air preheater area
3. Hot air ducting from air preheater to windbox
b. Cleaning of suction screen.
c. Cleanilng of steam air preheater steam tubes (externally) and tightening of leaking joints.
d. Strengthening of hot air ducting and burner wind box guide vanes.

v. STEAM DRUM
a. Inspectiion of the following:1. Drum internal surfaces
2. All pipe fittings/joints inside the drum
3. Feedpipe, girth plates, baffles, scrubbers, chevron driers, separator

4. Gauge glass

5. Isolating valves
b. Wipe cllean the drum internal surface.
c. Removal of deposits by vacuum cleaning.
d. Inspectiion by Inspector of Machinery before reassembly
e. Overhaul the gauge glass and isolating valve
vi. HEADER
a. Inspectlion of the following:1. Superheater inlet and outlet header
2. Reheater inlet and outlet header
3. \/Vaterwall header
4. Economizer inlet and outlet headers
b. Removal of hand hole or by cutting header cap for inspection and reweld.
vii. TUBES
a. Cutting of tubes for inspection and rewelding.
b. Replacing worn-out tubes. .

viii. FORCED IINIDUCED DRAFT FAN


a. Inspection of the following:1. Impeller and shaft
2. suction part and impeller gap
3. casing and ducting
4. suction screen
5. suction damper
6. bearing
7. fluid coupling
b. Water washing of the fan impeller, shaft and casing.
c. Cleaning of the suction screen.
d. Cleaning and easing of the damper. Greasing of its bearings.
e. Checkilng bearing clearances and renewing lubricating oil.
f. Overhalul the fluid coupling and realignment.
ix. HIGH PRESSURE FUEL OIL PUMP
a. Inspection of the following after dismantling:1. Mechanical seal
2. Power rotor and balancing piston
3. Idler rotor
4. Sleeves
5. Ball bearings, bearing bush
b. Overhauling the entire pump including cleaning of parts, replacing worn out parts and lapping mechanical seal faces.
x. OIL HEATER
a. Inspection of the tube nest
b. Repairing of leaks.

xi. OIL BURNERS


a. Dismantle and inspect all the parts including the burner tips.
b. Clean all the burner parts.

c. Lap the burner tips.


d. Clean all the burner vanes and swirlers.

xii. VALVES AND FITTINGS


a. OverhauI of the following valves:1. All the safety valves.
2. Boiler main stop valve and its bypass.
3. Feedwater control valve and its bypass.
4. All burner inlet and outlet isolating valves.
5. Boiler and drum blowdown valves.
6. H.P dosing valves.
7. Sootblower steam isolating, bypass and control valves.
8. Siteam oil heater valves.
9. Steam traps and its bypass and isolating valves.
b. Overhauling the drum gauge glasses.
c. Cleaning and easing of boiler explosion door.
