Of particular iaterest are the two Ha 42 Mote} 22 (lis 104) 16-cylinder,

that take-off powor for these enzines is 1970 h.p., boost pressure is
40.7" ie, and the fuel rating 18 92 octane. This ts substantially confimed by
Gocumonts from the erash, which also show the total tankage to be 1097 U.S. gallons;
of which 49-4 callona are built into the wings and 567.6 gallons are bulit into
the fuselage.
Arsanont consisted of 1 x 12.7 mm nose gun, a hydraulically operated dorsal
turret mounting « 20 mm Bromine type cun, 2x 12.7 tm side cuns (one carried on
a post mount at each side) andl x 12.7 oh tail cin turrets Two pieces of £/6"

and the other the co-piiot's back and heads
‘The dorsal power turret is shown in Figs. 2,4 and 6, Tt appears to be com
parable to the olectrically operated hydraulte turret in BETTY 22, but 1t i not
Clear at present whether the turret rovolves a full 360° as does the one in BETTY.
A significant point was tho alleged finding of the rennants of a torpedo
rack from whlch the torpedo appeared to heve been previously dropped or jettisoned,
(TAIC comont: If the report is correct, this marks the first occasion that
torpedo racks have actually been found on a Jap-Army bomber and indicates a change
to & defensive role in the newer Jap aircraft types.)
There ts a strong possibility that radar wes installed but direct evidence
41s lacking at present. -A later and nore comprehensive report will be tssued when
additional dotatis are secured.
