The project is intended 10 develop and stabilize and-develop irrigation to the tune of 6.53 lakh ha in MP and 2.51 lakh ha in UP, besides providing drinking water 10 about 6.2 million people in the two States. AND WHEREAS, the Union Government, in consultation with the states, will ereate an appropriate institutional arrangement involving states for control mechanism. water accounting and regulation of water in Ken and Betwa basins in accordance with agreement reached. UP shall be free to create additional storages in its own territory downstream of Bariyarpur PUW to store monsoon water as per its requirement during non monsoon period. The rest of the water-shall-be-atilised-by MP in-Ken-and Betwe-basins. In case. MP utilises additional water in Bewa basin beyond its due share in Betwa basin as per existing ‘water sharing agreements for Betwa basin, the same shall be substituted by MP from its share in Ken basin to Betwa basin through Ken-Betwa Link Canal at its outfall at Barwa-Sagar in Betwa river, upstream of Parichha weir through Barwa Nallah In the years of scarcity (gross annual yield being below 6188 MCM in Ken basin upto Daudhan dam), the deficit shall be borne by both the states in the ratio of their respective utilisation from Ken system i.e, 27.5% by UP and 72.5% by MP. Also the any deficit in the storage of Daudhan reservoir as on Ist November shall be shared by both the states in the ratio of their share from Daudhan reservoir storage. COMPON| ENTS OF KEN-BETWA LINK PROJECT (KBLP) The components of KBLP including head works & their distribution system and canal pipeline & command networks are given at Annexure-I. PROVISION FOR DRE KING WATER SUPPLY The drinking water supply from project to region shall be given priority. The project wise provisions made for drinking water supply along with districts to be benefitted are given at Annexure-II. However, the provisions for drinking water supplies shall be within the overall share ofeach state."7.0 TA SHARING OF COST (details enclosed he cost of KBLP shall inciude all the components listed in para at Annexure-l) of this MoA including the cost of land acquisition.
