Anmerkungen / Remarks

Es gibt zwei Stücke von Barrios, die »Luz Mala« genannt werden, ein echtes und ein »gefälschtes«. Kurz gefasst:
Barrios hatte einen Termin mit seinem Verleger. Er hatte zu der Zeit einen Vertrag zu erfüllen, der eine neue
Partitur vorsah, mit dem Titel »Luz Mala«. Aber – Barrios traf eine befreundete Dame, unterhielt sich mit ihr
und vergaß seine handgeschriebene Partitur im Taxi. So stand das neue Stück, ein »Estilo Uruguayo« mit dem
Untertitel »Poemito Regional«, das echte »Luz Mala«, nicht zur Verfügung. Um keine Probleme mit seinem
Verleger zu bekommen, lieferte Barrios bei seinem Termin ein nicht sehr bedeutendes Stück in F-Dur ab, das er
gerade im Kopf oder zur Hand hatte und nannte dieses »Luz Mala«.†

Die (erhältliche) Originalaufnahme von Barrios aus dem Jahr 1928 dient heute noch zu Referenzzwecken.

Luz Mala (böses Licht), ein bei Nacht zu sehendes mythisches Licht, ist eine Schauergeschichte aus Argentinien
und Uruguay. Sie mag indes auf realen Fakten basieren, wie sie z.B. durch Methangas-Emissionen verursacht
werden können, durch Emissionen aus dem Verrottungsprozess organischen Materials oder einfach nur durch das
Mondlicht, das durch die blanken Knochen von Kadavern reflektiert wird. ;-)

There are two pieces from Barrios called “Luz Mala”, the real one and a “faked” piece. In short: Barrios had a
date with his publishing company. He had to deliver a new piece at that time, titled as “Luz Mala” in his contract.
But—he met a lady friend, talked with her and did forget his handwritten score in a taxi. So his new piece, an
“Estilo Uruguayo”, subtitled with “Poemito Regional”, the real “Luz Mala” was not available. Not to get into
trouble with his publishing company, Barrios delivered a not very important piece in F major he had in mind or
at hand as the new “Luz Mala”.†

Barrios’ (available) original recording from the year 1928 is still useful for reference usage.

Luz Mala (evil light), a mythical light, seen by night, is a scare story from Argentina and Uruguay. It may
however be based on real facts e.g. like methane gas emissions or gas emissions from organic material that
decomposes or it’s just the moonshine, reflected by the blank bones from cadavers. ;-)
