Project Charter: Family Vacation

Background
The family vacation charter defines the responsibilities and objectives of the family to successfully carry out an
unforgettable family retreat.

By outlining the scope of work, identifying authority, recognizing the stakeholders, and developing a tiered break
down of the tasking that will need to take place.

A work break down structure has been identified and created as part of this project, please see accompanying slide.

Goals
·         Visiting two new locations
·         Interests for the entire group
·         Not exceeding 7 business days

Scope
This vacation will provide the family with wonderful memories which will be cherished. For this objective to be met a
decision on of the destinations will need to be determined based on inputs and feedback from all project team
members. This decision will serve as the start of the period of performance in which the project team members will
determine logistics of travel, gathering information on weather and available activities in order to create a packing list.
The activities shall be established based on inputs form project team members; final concurrence given by the client
and sponsor. The vacation and activities that will be participated in during the vacation will not include towering height
attractions, nature walks or hikes exceeding four-hour duration and exceeding the proposed budget provided by the
sponsor and signed off by the client.

Project Budget
The project sponsor has proposed a budget not to exceed $8,000 to cover transportation, lodging accommodations,
meals (including snacks), and activities during the vacation. This will not cover any expenses from items needing to
be purchased in order to meet the requirements of the packing list.

Constraints, Assumptions, Risks and Dependencies


Constraints   Defining destination requirements and activities. Transportation cost and availability during
desired milestone.

Assumptions Assume all project members agree on destinations. Assume that project members approve
activities. Assume availability from all project members for the period of performance of the
project.
Risks and Identified risks include weather variability in desired destinations; logistic timeliness to ensure
Dependencies activities and destinations are reached on time and the possibility of illness due to travel and
culinary aspects of destinations. For the vacation to take place travel plans must follow within
the timeline of the project.
