nachtschwaermer-projekt.de) steht ein dreiköpfiges
Team von Musik- und Medienmanagement-
Studentinnen, das eine Trendstudie im Auftrag von
media.net BerlinBrandenburg und der Club Commission
Berlin durchführte. Die gewonnen Eindrücke fasst dieser
Guide zusammen.
Die Club Commission ( www.clubcommission.de) ist
ein Verein, der sich als Zusammenschluss von Berliner
Club-, Party- und Kulturereignisveranstaltern der
unterschiedlichsten Bereiche versteht. Der Verein setzt
sich für Berlins Nachtleben ein und organisiert unter
anderem regelmäßig die Clubnacht.
Berlin In Your Pocket ( www.inyourpocket.com) ist
Berlins beliebter englischsprachiger Stadtführer. Er
erscheint alle zwei Monate und stellt ausländischen
Besuchern der Stadt Hunderte von Restaurants, Bars,
Clubs, Hotels und vieles mehr vor. Erhältlich ist der

cocktails clubs.
This Club & Trend guide presents the best of Berlin‘s
clubs, and is a combined effort of the Nachtschwärmer
Team, the Berlin Club Commission, the Berlin In Your
Pocket city guide and Zitty magazine.
The three-person Nachtschwärmer team
(„nightcrawlers“; www.nachtschwaermer-projekt.de) is
made up of music and media management students
who have done a club trend study at the request of
media.net BerlinBrandenburg and the Clubcommission.
They’ve summarized the impressions they gained in
this club guide.
The Club Commission (www.clubcommission.de) is
the association of clubs, cultural and nightlife venues, a
unique cooperation that promotes Berlin‘s nightlife and
organises the regular Clubnacht night.
Berlin In Your Pocket (www.inyourpocket.com)
is Berlin‘s acclaimed English-language city guide.
Distributed in most mid to top-range hotels and via the
tourist offices, and with all content also available online,
it has hundreds of reviews of restaurants, bars, clubs
and hotels.
Zitty (www.zitty.de) is Berlin‘s leading German-
language city magazine. Published every two weeks,
it features reviews, articles and news about concerts,

Lage des Polar TV´s
ist einen Besuch wert. Der Blick auf die erleuchtete
Glaskuppel des Reichstags und die riesige Glashalle
des neuen Lehrter Bahnhofs lässt die Partygäste schon
vor dem Betreten staunen. Das wechselnde Programm
mit Live-Konzerten und DJ-Sessions ist so bunt, wie die
Innenbeleuchtung des Clubs. Selbst die Premieren-
Feiern großer Hollywood Kinofilme finden hier statt.
Nicht verpassen: Große Gastauftritte haben hier zum
Beispiel die DJs Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Carl Craig.
The central location alone makes Polar TV worth
visiting. On the way there partiers are treated to a
view of the glass cupola of the Reichstag and the
enormous glass hall of the new main train station.
The program of live concerts and DJ sessions is
as intense as the interior lighting. Even Hollywood
films have celebrated their premier nights here.
Look for major guest appearances here, such as by
DJs Sven Väth, Carl Cox and Carl Craig.

Die Kunstfabrik Schlot ist einer der renommiertesten
Cabaret- und Jazzclubs in Berlin. In den ehemaligen
Kellerräumen einer alten Fabrik erklingen bei lauschiger
Atmosphäre bekannte und neue Klänge von Duos bis
Big Bands. Das Ambiente aus Stein und Holz vermittelt
ein freundliches und kreatives Flair und bietet unter dem
Gewölbe viele Sitzarrangements sowie eine Tanzfläche.
Neben dem Programm sorgt die gutbestückte Bar für gute
Laune: hier gibt’s kleine Snacks von der Schmalzstulle bis
zum Käseteller bis in die frühen Morgenstunden.
Kunstfabrik Schlot is one of Berlin’s most renowned
cabarets and jazz clubs. The cellar rooms of an old
factory host anything from duos to big bands. The
stone and wood setting conveys a friendly and cre-
ative flair and provides many seating arrangements
beneath the vaulted ceilings as well as a dance floor.
Along with the live acts, the bar keeps up a good vibe
into the wee morning hours, serving up small snacks
from schmalz (lard) spreads to cheese plates.

encourages lounging with its landscape of black leather

Im Retro-Stil der 20er Jahre
finden zwischen runden Kaf-
fee-Tischchen und gediegenem
Holztresen zwei- bis dreimal die Woche Literatur-Abende
mit Lesungen und Diskussionen statt. Im Anschluss wird
zu Live-Klängen (häufig osteuropäische und russische
Bands) oder DJ-Sets verschiedenster Gattungen bis zum
Morgengrauen gefeiert. Berühmt geworden durch Wladimir
Kaminers gleichnamigen Roman ist die „Russendisko“, die
hier jeden zweiten Samstag steigt.
Two to three times a week literature nights with read-
ings and discussions take place within a retro 1920s
setting of round coffee tables and a solid wood bar.
Following the readings are live sounds (mostly from
eastern European and Russian bands) or DJ sets of any
genre, and partying into the grey hours of the morning.
Made famous through the similarly named novel by Ber-
lin transplant Vladimir Kaminer, Russian Disco nights

Volksbühne einerseits an Großmutters Wohnzimmer, aber auch
der Vergleich mit dem Vereinsraum der Dackelzüchter ist nicht
so weit hergeholt. Das soll dem Spaß keinen Abbruch tun – im
Gegenteil. Spiegeltüren, Ventilatoren und ein Hauch von Sozi-
alismus gepaart mit Drum’n’Bass, 60´s, 80’s, Pop und Dance
macht die Abende in dieser ausgefallenen Location zu einem

on the side of the Volksbühne theater reminds us of our
grandmother’s living room, but the comparison to the
dachshund breeders clubhouse isn’t that farfetched either.
But that shouldn’t dampen the fun – just the opposite. Mir-
rored doors, ceiling fans and a hint of socialism paired with
drum n’ bass, 60´s, 80´s, pop and dance tunes makes the
nights in this worn location special.

Der jüngste Club der Kulturbrauerei befindet sich im
Untergeschoss von „Pool & Cigars“, der ehema-
ligen Pichhalle der Brauerei. Kupferne Wände mit
Dekortapeten, braun-beige Sofasessel und ein
überschaubarer Floor vermitteln eine intime Partyat-
mosphäre. Die kleine Bühne ist ideal für Konzerte
mit engem Kontakt zum Publikum. Hier feiern nette
Leute, die obercoole Szene bleibt draußen.
Beneath the Pool & Cigars pool hall is the young-
est club in the Kulturbrauerei complex. Copper-
clad walls with decorative rugs, brown and beige
overstuffed chairs and an easy to view dance
floor make for an intimate party atmosphere.
The small stage is ideal for concerts. The crowd
here is nice – the too-cool-for-you scene stays
outside.

the legendary Frannz Klub opened its doors in 2004 after a
seven year hiatus. For every taste and wallet, the restaurant
and lounge serve warm food continuously from 10:00 to
04:00. In the neighbouring room everything from salsa
dance classes to rock concerts and theme parties take
place. Sunday is family day: a relaxed brunch for the parents
and creative hands-on activities for the children.

The former turbine hall at the Kulturbrauerei is
an extremely variable location. Thanks to its at-
tractive gallery, two bars and the multifunctional
