Assembly Instructions replacing the drive unit
Wichtige Hinweise
1. Alle Arbeiten dürfen nur von qualifiziertem
Fachpersonal durchgeführt werden. Vor Beginn
jeder Arbeit am SIMODRIVE POSMO A müs-
sen die 5 Sicherheitsregeln beachtet werden:
Freischalten, gegen Wiedereinschalten
sichern, Spannungsfreiheit feststellen, Erden
und Kurzschließen und benachbarte unter
Spannung stehende Teile abdecken oder ab-
schranken.
2. Vorsicht beim Anfassen! Beim SIMODRIVE
POSMO A können während des Betriebs
Oberflächentemperaturen von über 100 C auf-
treten! Brandgefahr!
3. Schutzeinrichtungen auch beim Probebetrieb
nicht außer Funktion setzen.
Bei Wellenende mit Paßfeder ist beim Probebe-
trieb ohne Abtriebselemente die Paßfeder zu
sichern. Drehrichtung im ungekuppelten Zu-
stand kontrollieren.
4. Bei extremen Vibrations–/Schockbeanspru-
chungen muß der Motor über die drei
M5–Gewindebohrungen mit einer entsprechen-
den Halterung abgestützt werden.
5. Um die Schutzart zu gewährleisten müssen
alle Anschlüsse mit einem Blindstopfen oder
mit einer PG–Verschraubung abgedichtet sein.
6. Beim Auf– und Abziehen von Abtriebselemen-
ten auf die Abgangswelle dürfen keine Schläge
(z. B. mit einem Hammer) oder größere als die
maximal zulässige Axial– oder Radiallast auf
das Wellenende wirken.
7. Auf gute Flanschbefestigung und genaue Aus-
richtung achten. Bei erhöhten Geräuschen/
Schwingungen/Temperaturen im Zweifelsfall
abschalten.
8. Alle Leistungsschilder, Warnschilder und Hin-
weisschilder am SIMODRIVE POSMO A sind
zu beachten!
9. Die Anschlußdeckel für POSMO A – 75 W und
POSMO A – 300 W sind verstecksicher, d. h.
der Anschlußdeckel für den 75 W–Motor passt
nicht auf den 300 W–Motor und umgekehrt.
10. Nach der Lebensdauer des Produktes sind die
einzelnen Teile entsprechend den landesspezi-
fischen Vorschriften zu entsorgen.
11. Weitere Hinweise sind dem aktuellen Benutzer-
handbuch des Produktes zu entnehmen.

Important Instructions
1. Only trained, qualified technicians may work on
the equipment. Before you start working on or
with SIMODRIVE POSMO A, you must carefully
! observe 5 safety rules:
Isolate, lock–out against reclosure, check that
Warnung the equipment really is in a no–power condition,
Warning ground and short–circuit and cover or partition
off adjacent parts which are under voltage.
2. Be careful when coming into contact with the
equipment! When operational, SIMODRIVE
POSMO A can have surface temperatures ex-
ceeding 100 C! Danger of fire!
3. Do not disable the protective devices, even
when testing the equipment.
If the shaft end has a feather key when testing
the unit without drive–out elements, first secure
the feather key. Check the direction of rotation
with the unit uncoupled.
4. In the case of extreme vibration/shock loads, the
motor must be supported via the three M5 threa-
ded holes using the corresponding holding ele-

Caution 5. In order to guarantee the degree of protection, all
connections must be sealed with a dummy plug
or a PG gland.
6. When attaching and removing drive–out ele-
ments at the output shaft, it is not permissible to
subject the shaft end to knocks (e.g. using a
hammer) or more than the maximum permissible
axial or radial load at the shaft end.
7. Ensure that the unit is correctly mounted at the

9. The connection covers for POSMO A – 75 W
Note and POSMO A – 300 W can only be inserted at
the correct locations, i. e. the connection cover
for the 75 W motor does not fit onto that of the
300 W motor and vice versa.
10. When the service life of the product has expired,
the individual parts must be disposed of accor-
ding to the country–specific regulations.
11. Further information is provided in the current
user documentation of the product.

1. Werkzeuge
– Schraubendreher Größe 4 (1.0 x 6.5)
– Innensechskantschlüssel SW 3
2. Neue Antriebseinheit
3. Parametersatz der alten Antriebseinheit
Wie ist der Montageablauf beim Tauschen
der Antriebseinheit?
1. Anschlußdeckel abmontieren
– Schraubendreher Größe 4 (1.0 x 6.5)
2. Die vier Befestigungsschrauben der
Antriebseinheit lösen
– Innensechskantschlüssel SW 3
3. Die alte Antriebseinheit abziehen
4. Die neue Antriebseinheit stecken
5. Die vier Befestigungsschrauben der
Antriebseinheit anziehen
– Innensechskantschlüssel SW 3
– Schrauben wechselnd diagonal anziehen
– Drehmoment: 2.5 – 3.0 Nm
6. Anschlußdeckel stecken und festschrauben
– Schraubendreher Größe 4 (1.0 x 6.5)
7. Parametersatz laden
Es muß der bereitgestellte Parametersatz
von der alten Antriebseinheit in die neue
Antriebseinheit geladen werden.

What do you need when replacing the drive
unit?
1. Tools
– Screwdrivers, Size 4 (1.0 x 6.5)
– Allen key, Size 3
2. New drive unit
3. Parameter set of the old drive unit
How is the drive unit replaced?
1. Remove the connection cover
– Screwdriver, Size 4 (1.0 x 6.5)
2. Release the four screws retaining the drive unit
– Allen key, Size 3
3. Remove the old drive unit
4. Insert the new drive unit
5. Tighten the four screws retaining the drive unit
– Allen key, Size 3
– Tighten–up the screws alternating diago-
nally
– Torque: 2.5 – 3.0 Nm
6. Insert the connection cover and screw into
place
– Screwdriver, Size 4 (1.0 x 6.5)
7. Download the parameter set
The prepared parameter set from the old drive
unit must be downloaded into the new drive
unit.
8. Test the positioning motor
