now is great peace, save pause, for thus nun ist groß’ Fried’ ohn’ Unterlaß,
all fights and feuds are ending. all’ Fehd’ hat nun ein Ende.

1. We trust, believing, one true God, 1. Wir glauben all’ an einen Gott,
shaper of the earth and heaven, Schöpfer Himmels und der Erden,
who, that his children we’d be vowed, der sich zum Vater geben hat,
as the Father him has given. daß wir seine Kinder werden.
He will us at all times nourish, Er will uns allzeit ernähren,
soul and body well maintaining, Leib und Seel’ auch wohl bewahren,
ev’ry mischance makes he perish, allem Unfall will er wehren,
no harm shall befall, us paining; kein Leid soll uns widerfahren.
With care he tends us, guards in watch; Eer sorget für uns, hüt’t und wacht;
all stands within his might as such. es steht alles in seiner Macht.

God with Father, Son, together, Gott mit Vater un dem Sohne,
the Comf’ter who the faint calls yet, der aller Blöden (Schwachen) Tröster heisst
and with gifts adorns here hither, und mit Gaben zieret schöne,
who earth’s Christendom is holding die ganz’ Christenheit auf Erden
in one sense, indeed it cleaving; hält in einem Sinn gar eben;
here, sin’s pardon she’s unfolding, hier all’ Sünd’ vergeben werden,
that flesh shall again be living. das Fleisch soll auch wieder leben.
Past this great mis’ry t’us shall be Nach diesem Elend ist bereit

Isaiah, seer and prophet, this did chance:
that he in spirit saw the Lord in stance
upon a lofty throne, ’mid blazing light,
his garment’s hem the choir to fill in fright.
There stood by him two stately seraphim,
six wings he saw had each to rev’rence him:
with twain they veiled their shining faces clear,
with twain they decked their feet in all arrear,
and with the other twain they flew on high,
and called to one another with great cry:
“Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!1
Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!
Holy is God, the Lord of Sabaoth!
His glory all the world has filled there ’bout!”
From forth their cry the sills and rafters shook,
the house in whole to fill with mist and smoke.

1. Our Father ’mid the heavens’ reign,
thou bid us all alike again
kindred to be and thee invoke
with this thy pray’r for ev’ry folk;
grant that alone the mouth not sound
but pray from out the heart’s own ground!
2. Hallow’d thy name be, ne’er profane;
thy Word with us help pure remain,
that likewise live we hallow’dly,
after thy name respectably.
Protect us, Lord, from falsesome lore;
convert poor folk misled from yore!
3. Thy reign, it comes within this age,
too, ’pon eternity’s great stage;
the Holy Ghost by us make dwell,
with all its various gifts and swell;
break Satan’s wrath and violence great,
preserving thy dear Church in state!
4. Thy will be done, Lord God, on earth
as in the heavens’ reign and worth;
grant patience in our times of woe,
obedience in each love and low;
restrain and check all flesh and blood
that ’gainst thy will acts unsubdued!
5. Grant us this day our daily bread
and what be fit for bod’ly need;
Lord, guard us ’fore dissensions’ strife,
’fore plague and times of scarcest life,
that we in goodly peace might stay,
concerns and greeds to cast away!

6. All our own guilt forgive us, Lord,
that trouble it no more accord,
as we our guilty gladly grieve,
their guilt and failings to forgive;
to serve make us prepared, that we
bear righteous love and unity!

grant us resistance strong to fight
in faith that’s firm and armed and just
and through the Holy Ghost’s true trust!

8. Von allem Übel uns erlöβ,
es sind die Zeit und Tage böβ;
erlös uns von dem ew’gen Tod

9. “AMEN!”, that is, “So be it true!”
Strengthen our faith forever through
that we not doubt nor fear there ’pon
what we herewith have prayed as one
upon thy Word and in thy name;
thus we the great “AMEN” proclaim!
