I. Vocabs quiz
II. Lecture
a. Konsekutive Zusammenhänge
- Consecutive connectors and prepositions express what follows a situation or action has.
- Consecutive sentences can be formed verbally with connectors or nominally with prepositions.
Nominal expressions with prepositions are typical of written language.
- They indicate a sequence for the utterance in the main clause.
- so oder derartig stehen vor einem Adjektiv oder Adverb.
- S + V + TKML, sodass + S + TKML + V
- The connector infolgedessen (as a result) has causal-consecutive meaning. Consecutive clauses
combine two clauses that have a reason-consecutive relationship.
- S + V + infolgedessen + TKML
- Infolgedesse + V + S + TKML
- Beispiel
- Es schneite sehr stark, infolgedessen musste das Fußballspiel abgebrochen werden. It was snowing
heavily, as a result of which the football match had to be cancelled.
- er ist erst kurz hier; infolgedessen hat er wenig Erfahrung.
- he's only here a short time; consequently he has little experience
b. Feste Verbindung von Nomen mit Verben
- Expressions in which nouns and verbs appear in fixed combinations are in the
- written language frequently. In spoken language, the place of the fixed connection is often just a
verb with the same or a similar meaning.
