Im Flugzeug
In the aeroplane

Tom and Kate Walker are off to Germany.

They board a plane to Stuttgart via Frankfurt
and squeeze past a fellow passenger,
who is sitting in their row.

Tom: Entschuldigen Sie, /Excuse me,

wir haben Platz neun a und neun b. /we have seat 9a and 9b.
Klaus: O ja, einem Momenten bitte./Oh, yes, a moment please.
Tom: Guten Tag. /(Hello).
Wir sind Tom und Kate Walker. /We are Tom and Kate Walker.
Klaus: Guten Tag. /Good day.
Mein Name ist Becker. /My name is Becker
Tom: Boris Becker? /Boris Becker?
Klaus: Nein, leider nicht. /No, unfortunately not.
Ich bin Klaus Becker. /I am Klaus Becker.
Tom: Wir fliegen nach Stutgart. /We are flying to Stuttgart.
Sie auch? /You also?
Klaus: Nein, ich fliege nach Frankfurt./No, I am flying to Frankfurt.
Aber ich bin aus Koln. /But I am from Cologne.
Tom: Ich war im Mai in Koln. /I was in May in Cologne.
Die Stadt ist sehr schon. /The town is very beautiful.
Ich war fur meine Firma in Koln. /I was for my Firm in Cologne.
Klaus: Was machen Sie? /What do you do?
Tom : Computer. /Computers.
Ich arbeite bei Unilever. /I work at Unilever.
Klaus: Und Sie, Frau Walker? /And you, Mrs Walker?
Was machen Sie? /What do yo do?
Wo arbeiten Sie? /Where do you work?
Kate: Ich war in einem Reiseburo. / I was in a travel agency.
Ich arbeite jetzt bei Rover. /I work now at Rover.
Der job ist besser. /The job is better.
Klaus: Sind Sie aus London?/Are you from London?
Kate: Nein, wir sind aus Manchester./No, we are from Manchester.
Wir waren drei Jahre in London/We were three years in London
und ein Jahre in New York./and a year in New York.
Wir sind jetzt in Birmingham./We are now in Birmingham.
Klaus: Ich war bei Shell./I was at shell.
Ich bin jetzt bei Deutchen Bank./I am now at the Deutsche Bank.
Tom: Wie ist die Job bei der Bank? Gut?/How is your job at the bank? Good?
Klaus: Der Job ist langweilig./The job is boring.
Aber es gibt mehr Geld./But there is more money.
Ich habe ein grosses Haus,/I have a big house,
einen Mercedes, eine Frau/a Mercedes, a wife
und vier Kinder./and four children.
Meine Frau ist aus America./My wife is from America.
Sie hat Eltern in Los Angeles/She has parents in Los Angeles
und eine Freudin in Florida/and a girlfriend in Florida
und telefonieret immer./and telephones always.
Das kostet viel Geld./That costs a lot of money.
Kate: Wir haben jetzt Urlaub./We have now holiday.
Sie auch?/You, too?
Klaus: Nein, leider nicht./No unfortuntely not.
Ich habe im September Urlaub./I have in September holiday.
Wir fliegen nach Mallorca/We are flying to Mallorca
aber ohne die Kinder./ but whithout the children.
Wir haben da ein Haus/We have there a house
ohne Telefon und ohne Handy!/ - whithout telephone and without mobile!
