With a different breed of fellow
Whose skin is black or yellow
They quick as winking chop him into beefsteak tartare.

POLLY.
POLLY: Oh. Mac. dont tear the heart out of my body Stay
with me and let us be happy.
POLLY: Oh, last night I had a dream. I was looking out the
window and I heard laughter in the street, and when I
looked out I saw our moon and the moon was all thin like a
worn-down penny. Dont forget me, Mac, in strange cities.
MAC. Adieu. Polly. Ab, singt hinter der Szene. Die Liebe
dauert oder dauert nicht
An dem oder jenem Ort.

in the most impecunious circumstances with one of you

MACHEATH.

CHORUS: For once you must try not to shirk the facts:
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts.
MRS PEACHUM: You say that girls may strip with your
permission.
You draw the lines dividing art from sin.
So first sort out the basic food position
Then start your preaching: thats where we begin.
You lot, who bank on your desires and our disgust
Should learn for all time how the world is run:
Whatever lies you tell, however much you twist
Food is the first thing. Morals follow on.
So first make sure that those who now are starving
Get proper helping when we do the carving.
CHORUS: For once you must try not to shirk the facts:
Mankind is kept alive by bestial acts.

Youll probably say the police can handle us poor folk. You
dont believe that yourself. How will it look if six hundred
poor cripples have to be clubbed down at the Coronation? It
will look bad. It will look disgusting. Nauseating.
AUSRUFER.
BALLAD SINGER: Mac the Knife, who has been with the
whores again, has again been betrayed by whores.
