Welcome 2010
Ein paar mal werden wir noch wach
und dann kannst Du entscheiden,
ob Du zu Mama und Papa unter den
Weihnachtsbaum fährst, bis zum
umfallen feierst oder Dich zuhause
für psychedelische Experimente ein-
schließt, um den Hammer-Sommer
Revue passieren zu lassen. Trotz
aller Tendenzen der Diversifikation
und Abspaltungen in Dark, Prog,
Psy, Tech & Co haben wir den Unity-
Gedanken nicht verloren, schließlich
feiern wir doch meistens noch alle
gemeinsam.
Uns hat das Jahr mit Euch wie-
der einmal viel Spaß gemacht. Und
weil Ihr (naja die meisten jeden-
falls) brav gewesen seid, lässt sich
die psychedelische Weihnachtsfliege
vom Titelbild nicht lumpen und hat
ein paar Geschenke mitgebracht. In
allen mushroom Abos mit Welcome
Pack gibt es nämlich, für Bestel-
lungen, die bis zum 19.12. abgege-

besonderes Augen- bzw. Ohren-

außerdem auf der harmonischen
Verknüpfung von intensiven Bäs-
sen und den markanten Lead-
sounds. Neben diesen essen-
ziellen Zutaten seines persön-
lichen Ohrwurmrezepts hat mir
Hannes übrigens auch sein größtes
Abenteuer im Touralltag verraten:

gressive Trance, one will inevi-
tably have to mention the work
of Hannes Klitta sooner or later.
With his project Vaishiyas, he
ranks among the currently most
popular producers of this genre,
and that not only since yester-
day. His gigs at Boom 2006 or
Universo Paralello the
same year have
become unforgettable moments
because he managed to make the
dancefloors go entirely banana
despite having been sceptic initi-
ally due to his very modern and
straightforward sounds.
Now the founder of Spintwist
Records just presented his fourth
album “Satisflaxion” on his own
label, the launch will be celebra-
ted on the 12th December in the
Fabrik at Wöbbelin. The result of six
months of diligent studio work, only
interrupted by one complaint of
the neighbours, expresses a repea-
ted evolution of his style: “The new
album is definitely more 4-to-the-
floor, the songs are more suitable
for DJs and the whole thing became
very well-structured concerning
the song writing. I also put a lot of
emphasis on catchy melodies, that
often resulted from jam sessions
with Live 8, as one can hear in Hold
On, Axon & John or Satisflaxion, for
example”. Considering that his last
works had not really bad feedbacks
from the dancefloors also, this is
a pretty interesting statemen. Spe-
cial attention has also been paid to
the harmonic connection of intense
basses and distinctive lead sounds.
Beside this essential ingredients of
his personal recipe for catchyness,
Hannes also told me the biggest
adventure he experienced while
touring around: This was namely,
when he locked himself into the toi-
let only 20 minutes before his gig

Als Pascal 1989 seine ersten Ver-
suche mit dem Mixen machte, hatte
er die typischen Probleme eines
Anfängers: Saubere Synchronisation
und Gigs finden. Seine Behinderung

blem dar. Dank des starken Rück-
halts in seiner Familie hatte er schon
von klein auf gelernt, alle Tätig-
keiten, die andere mit ihren Händen

pilation „A Concept in Psy“ an

Vollkommen neu ist BMSS aber
eigentlich nicht, denn als fester
Bestandteil des Untergrunds verfolgen
DJ Boom Shankar und sein Tribe mit
diesem Projekt schon seit zehn Jah-
ren ihre Vision von Trance- Kultur. Die
Gründung des Labels war in diesem
Zusammenhang ein logischer Schritt:
Von hier aus können sie den Sound
der vielen talentierten Künstler,
die sie im Laufe der Jahre entdeckt
haben, hinaus in die globale Trance
Community senden. Eine erste, von Dj
Saltaux zusammengestellte Kostprobe

Creating a musical mirror of the
current Psy Trance scene: Nothing
less is the aim of the South Ger-
man label BMSS, that hides behind
the acronym. For this very purpose
the first compilation, “A Concept
In Psy”, is ready to be launched
these days.
What is the story of BMSS, is it just
another Trance label?
Boom Shankar: BMSS is not recently-
founded. Furthermore, it is a project
mainly active in the underground for
a decade now. We organized festivals
and parties in different countries of
Europe. BMSS Records is just the next
logical step in this kind of evolution.
We want to support the vision and
the artists we featured in the line-ups
of our events, spreading the musical
message as far as possible. We have
the goal to make BMSS a mirror for
the steadily evolving Psy Trance scene
with all its colours. We are not only
focussed on night time Trance, day
time music has the same relevance.
The only element which is important
and thus necessary: The music has to
be intelligent and psychedelic!
The name of your first compilation
is pretty meaningful: “A Concept in
Psy”. What ideas did you have in
mind while compiling this one?
Saltaux: We wanted to give our best
for the Psy Trance scene with our
favourite artists presented on our first
release, which is out on 11th Decem-
ber. So the result is a wide-spread
selection of artists like Slug, Kode Six,
Shotu, Tsabeat and Zion Linguist.
What can we expect next from
BMSS Records?
Boom Shankar: Expect a lot! We are
already in the selection phase for
our second compilation. This time it‘s
gonna be compiled by ABS. Alexsoph
and myself will gather some nice
gems for night time and day time as
well, resulting in a killer double disc
which should be released in February.
Our VJ Maex Steel worked hard as
well during the past months, putting
the videos from our Fantasia Festival
into a fantastic journey of sound and
vision. These videos and more tracks
will be free to download from our
homepage soon.

gesprochen vielfältig: So war es
zunächst die Musik von Compu-
terspielen, die ihn faszinierte. Ab
14 standen dann Rave, Techno,
Jungle und Drum’n’Bass auf dem
Programm und vor etwa neun
Jahren entdeckte er die Welten
von Chill Out und Easy Listening.
Was ihn an diesen ruhigeren Gang-
arten elektronischer Musik beson-
ders reizt, ist die Tatsache, dass
er hier abschalten und entspan-
nen kann: „Ich empfinde melan-
cholische, harmonische Musik als
schön, weil sie einen zum nachden-
ken anregt. Das muss nicht heißen,
dass es einen dann runterzieht, das
kommt immer auf die Stimmung
drauf an, bei mir löst es eher Freu-
dentränen aus. Man geht bei Ambi-
ent nicht so nach dem Baukasten-
schema vor, wie es bei Tanzmu-
sik notwendig ist, es sind keine

Mankind is facing a leap
in evolution!
The world is facing big changes not only in the fantasy
of some epic movie producers! In fact our planet is just
undergoing some radical change. One does not have
to be a prophet like Nostradamus to predict a “dark
cloud moving around the globe”. A glance at all the cur-
rent visions about the last days of the world might really
arouse the impression that mankind is running straight
towards the abyss just like a flock of lemmings.
Why it is the year 2012 specifically, that marks a distinct
turning point in the history of mankind, derives from a
variety of prophetic traditions. The most distinct clues
are delivered by the New Age author Jose Arguelles
(The Maya Factor), who did some close inspections of
the concept of the Maya calendar.
REVOLUTION 2012 documents the topic of a global apo-
calyptic destruction from the viewpoint of a holistic-
thinking scientist. The sophisticatedly produced movie

The focus of the various scientific considerations is the
idea of a spiritual progress that catapults the mental

the crucial meaning of light has triggered a torrent of
insights during the past decades. Terms like photons,
morphogenetic fields or positive thinking have caused
a very own way to think and act in the life of many

red participation in the world affairs.

Nach seinem Studium an der Kunst-
schule versuchte der Niederländer
Johan Potma sich als freischaffender
Illustrator durchzuschlagen, doch es
war sehr schwer. Ein Glück für die
Welt der Gegenwartskunst, dass er
wenig später in seiner Wahlheimat
Berlin den ihn stilistisch wunderbar
ergänzenden Künstler Mateo ken-
nen lernte...
Dieser regte ihn an, sich mehr auf sein
eigentliches Talent, die Malerei, zu kon-
zentrieren und auf diesem Gebiet noch
mehr Erfahrung zu sammeln. Nach
kurzer Zeit sollte sich nicht nur eine
tiefe Freundschaft entwickeln, sondern
auch die gemeinsame Galerie Zozo-

ville in der Mainzer Str. eröffnen, heute
mit ihrem freakigen Charme eine
spektakuläre Sehenswürdigkeit der
Hauptstadt. Einen typischen Arbeits-
tag kennt Johan nicht, jedoch geht er
nach wie vor darin auf, sich im spiele-
rischen Kritzeln mit dem Stift zu verlie-
ren und so entstehen dann auch seine
vom Alltag in all seinen Facetten inspi-
rierten Motive. Ein großes Kompliment
war für ihn, dass sich jemand eines
seiner Bilder tätowieren ließ. Aber
am meisten freut es Johan eigentlich,
wenn junge wie alte Menschen beim
betrachten seiner Arbeit frei zu lachen
beginnen.

trator, but it was tough going. For-
tunately for contemporary art he
met the artist Mateo in his adop-
tive home Berlin a short time after-
wards, who is complementing him
stylistically quite wonderfully...

This one, whose creative work wonder-
fully completed with the style of Johan,
encouraged him to rather focus on
his real talent, painting, and to gather
more experience. Some time later not
only a deep friendship had develo-
ped but also the mutual gallery Zozo-
ville in Berlin’s Mainzer Straße opened,
a place that with its freaky charm has
become a spectacular sight of the Ger-
man capital. There is no typical wor-
king day for Johan but he still loves to
get lost in playful doodling with a pen.
This is also the intuitive way in which
his motives evolve, inspired by every-
day life in all its different facets. A huge
compliment for him was somebody
had one of his paintings tattooed. But
still Johan is pleased most when old
and young people look at his work and
start laughing freely.

sicht Anlass zur Vorfreude. Zum
einen wäre da ihr Austragungs-
ort: Nach anderthalb Jahren Pause
öffnet der Hühnerposten näm-
lich endlich wieder seine Tore! In
direkter Nähe zum Hauptbahnhof
gelegen, bieten die weitläufigen
Räumlichkeiten dieser beliebten
Hamburger Veranstaltungsört-
lichkeit großzügigen Platz für
zwei Dancefloors sowie eine chil-
lige Lounge und somit den per-
fekten Rahmen für eine gelun-
gene Indoor- Sause.
So populär der Hühnerposten des-
halb auch immer war, so möchten
wir an dieser Stelle doch nicht ver-
schweigen, dass es in der Vergan-

genheit auch immer wieder Kritik
gab: Die teilweise leider unentspan-
nte und schikanöse Securitypolitik
und hohe Getränkepreise verursach-
ten bei dem einen oder der ande-
ren einen bitteren Nachgeschmack.
So war es unser oberstes Anliegen,
diese Missstände zu beseitigen. Und
erfreulicherweise ist uns dies auch
gelungen: Eine neue Securityfirma
und moderate Getränkepreise wer-
ten die Location um einiges auf.
Natürlich darf man auch in musi-
kalischer Hinsicht auf viele Inno-
vationen gespannt sein. Sowohl
Freunden der schnelleren Gangart
als auch Liebhabern von progres-
siven Klängen dürfte beim Anblick
des Line-up das Wasser im Munde
zusammen laufen: Der franzö-
sische Polaris oder die schwedischen
Herren von Tegma sind lediglich
zwei besondere Highlights aus dem
durchweg bunten und kurzweiligen
Musikprogramm, welches den Hüh-
nerposten während der kommenden
Intact im Takt ihrer kraftvollen Beats

On the one hand, there is the
venue: After a break of one and
half a year, the famous Hühner-
posten opens its gates again!
Situated very close to the cen-
tral station, the extensive loca-
lity of this popular venue in Ham-
burg features spacious room for
two dance floors as well as a
chilly lounge area and therefore
the perfect location for a great
indoor party.
But though Hühnerposten always used
to be really popular, we don’t want to
shy away from the fact that there has
been criticism time and again: The
sometimes uneasy and rude security
policy as well as high prices for drinks
left a rather bad impression with one or
the other. So it was our highest aim to
solve these problems. And we are very
glad that we have been successful: A
new security crew and moderate prices
at the bar will increase the value of the
beautiful venue pretty much.
Of course, you may also be excited
with respect to music. A glance at the
lineup will have a mouth-watering
effect on both, friends of the rather fast
styles as well as lovers of progressive
sounds: The French Polaris or the two
gentlemen of Tegma from Sweden are
just two highlights of a really coloured
and entertaining musical program
that will make the whole venue boun-
cing and boosting from powerful beats
during the upcoming Intact party.

„Die Gäste sollen mit einem guten
Gefühl auf die Party kommen und
die Party auch mit einem guten
Gefühl verlassen“ – so lautet die
Losung der kommenden Brother-
hood of Trance. Zu diesem Zweck
wird der Geist einer gleichnamigen
Veranstaltungsreihe aus den Mitt-
neunzigern noch einmal wieder-
belebt. Die Besucher erwartet also
ein für heutige Verhältnisse außer-
gewöhnliches Konzept, bei dem
das Vergnügen der Gäste ausdrück-
lich im Vordergrund steht.
Wer kennt das nicht: Man hat sich
gerade erst eingegroovt und die Feier-
laune wird immer besser, da ist der Spaß
auch schon wieder vorbei, die letzte
Platte läuft aus, die Lichter gehen an
und die Party ist zu Ende. Dieses uner-
freuliche Phänomen kannte man natür-
lich auch schon vor über 10 Jahren und
Psytrance Party in Hamburg in the Nineties - Brotherhood wants to reclaim the spirit
so war es der Anspruch der ersten Brot-
herhood of Trance Veranstaltungen, das
Vergnügen einer ausgelassenen Sause
über ein ganzes Wochenende auszudeh-
nen. Denn damals wie heute gilt: Gut
Trance will Weile haben! Und so wird
es am ersten Märzwochenende ganze
48 Stunden ohne Unterbrechung zur
Sache gehen. Eine sorgsam ausgewählte
Mischung von Plattendrehern wird in
extra langen Sets ihre Fähigkeiten unter
Beweis stellen und dafür sorgen, dass
es den Gästen das Gegenteil von Lang-
weilig wird. Und nicht nur die musika-
lischen Räume laden zu spannenden
Erkundungen ein: Als Veranstaltungsört-
lichkeit wurde der Hamburger Festplatz
Nord gewählt, dessen weitläufige Räum-
lichkeiten zur Feier des Wochenendes
vollständig geöffnet werden und inner-
halb des Clubs für interessante Abwechs-
lungen sorgen. Wie Eingangs erwähnt,
steht das Amüsement und das Wohler-
gehen der Gäste auf der Bortherhood of
Trance im Vordergrund, daher soll auch
der Eintrittspreis für die mehrtägige Party
keinesfalls als Spaßbremse wirken und
auch die Getränkepreise an den Theken
sind sehr moderat angesetzt. Manche
behaupten, diese ursprüngliche Form
von Trance Partys sei heute nicht mehr
möglich. Ob es trotzdem noch geht, wer-
den die Gäste zeigen!
„The guests shall come to the party
with a positive feeling and also
leave the party with a positive fee-
ling“ – this is the motto of the upco-
ming Brotherhood of Trance. For
this purpose, the spirit of a same-
named party series from the mid-
nineties will be revived.
Who does not know this: One just got
into the groove of a party but sud-
denly the whole thing is finished- the
last record is played, the lights are
switched on and the party is over. For
this reason, the idea of the first Brot-
herhood of Trance events was to
extend the frisky pleasure of a party
to an entire weekend, because real
Trance just needs some time. This
approach is carried on also on the first
weekend of March, the party will run
for full 48 hours without a break. All
areas of the vast venue, Hamburg’s
Festplatz Nord, will be opened and
filled with sophisticated music. And
for a maximum of convenience, the
entry fee for the whole weekend will
be not much higher than for one eve-
ning at other parties and also the pri-
ces for drinks will remain at a cheap
level. So all together a truly classical
Trance party!
