Special protective equipment for firefighters:
In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Prevent skin contact by keeping a
safe distance or wearing suitable protective clothing.
Further information:
Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system.
Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray. Suppress (knock down)
dust/gases/vapours/mists with a water spray jet.

Zinc chloride:
Worker DNEL, longterm, systemic effects, inhalation: 1 mg/m³
Predicted No Effect Concentration (PNEC):
No data available.

8.2 Exposure controls:

Appropriate engineering controls:
Technical measures and appropriate working operations should have given priority over the use
of personal protective equipment (see section 7.1). Ensure good ventilation. This can be
achieved by local exhaust or general exhaust air.
Appropriate assessment methods for verifying the effectiveness of the protective measures
taken include metrological and non-metrological investigative methods such as those described
in the Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS) 402 and BS EN 14042 "Workplace
Areas, Guidance for the Implementation and Application of Procedures for Assessing Exposure
to Chemical and Biological Agents.".
Individual protection measures:
Protective clothing needs to be selected specifically for the workplace, depending on
concentrations and quantities of the hazardous substances handled. The chemical resistance of
the protective equipment should be enquired at the respective supplier.
Hygiene measures:
The product must be kept away from drinks, food and fodder. Remove contaminated clothing
immediately and wash before reuse. Wash the hands before taking a break and after end of
work. Avoid contact with the eyes and the skin. Do not eat, drink or smoke during work with the
product. Do not breathe in dust.
Personal protective equipment:
Eye/face protection:
Use safety goggles with side protection according to EN166: 2001.
* Hand protection:
For prolonged or repeated contact use chemical-resistant protective gloves (EN 374) (made of
nitrile or butyl rubber; thickness 0,3 mm; permeation time > 480 min).
Other protective equipment:
Wear protective clothing if skin contact can occur for this product. Working clothes must not
consist of textiles, which show a dangerous melting behaviour in case of fire.
* Respiratory protection:
Required when dust/vapours/aerosols are generated (filter A2B2E2K2-P3). Observe the wearing
time limit and the rules for the use of breathing apparatus (BGR 190).
Environmental exposure controls:
Do not empty into drains.
