Upper Drau Valley Outdoorpark, with its 8 holiday villages along the
River Drau, offers exciting sport and leisure activities in the midst of
nature, as well as oases of peace and relaxation. The unique natural
landscapes in the midst of the gentle peaks of the Kreuzeck Group to
the north, the striking mountain ranges of the Gailtaler Alps to the
south and the Lienzer Dolomites to the west, the pleasantly mild, bra-

At the point where three geological worlds intersect, hikes are particu-
larly multifaceted and full of variety. The gentle peaks of the Kreuzeck

Group are studded with scenic charms and fantastic panoramic views.
Innumerable clear mountain lakes, gently murmuring mountain stre-
ams and an astonishing silence characterise the mountain world to the
north of the Drau Valley. For those who like long Alpine hikes, crossing
the Kreuzeck Group on the Heinrich Hecht Path is an unforgettable
adventure.
The opposite side, whose gorges and canyons present a challenge to
rock climbers, is bizarre and ruggedly romantic. Mountain hikers and
rock climbers are drawn to the Hochstadel and the highest rock face in
the adjacent Lienzer Dolomites. Many Alpine pasture farmhouses and
mountain refuges pamper the visitor with regional specialities, while
at the same time opening up breathtaking views of the surrounding
mountain scenery.

logically valuable river valleys in the Southern Alps, stretches between
Oberdrauburg and Sachsenburg. The enchanting water meadow land-
scape, adventure-laden canyons, the wild beauty of the flowing water
and the soft plashing of crystal-clear mountain streams – everything
is asking to be discovered, explored or climbed. The element water
offers individual pleasures. Adventure-seekers will find just the right
mixture of sporting challenge and cool water in canyoning or soft raf-
ting. Bathing enthusiasts prefer to cavort on the waterslide of an
adventure pool or in the nearby bathing lake. Others would rather
explore the River Drau on a Drau Safari on the historically reconstruc-
ted Drau Barge, or individually - by canoe or rubber dinghy.

erwartet Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene, Groß und Klein mit 5
Liften, 2 Schischulen, einer Beschneiungsanlage und bestens
präparierten Pisten. Ein ausgedehntes Loipennetz, Rodelbahnen
und eine überdachte Natureisbahn sorgen auch außerhalb des
Pistenvergnügens für ausgedehnten Winterspaß.
Die sonnseitigen Almen der Kreuzeckgruppe sind jedoch für
Schneeschuhwanderer und Schitourengeher ein echter Geheim-
tipp. Abseits vom üblichen Pistentrubel setzen Sie Ihre Spur in
frischen Schnee.

Even in the cold season, the Upper Drau Valley Outdoorpark offers inter-
esting leisure activities. The Emberger Alm awaits beginner and advan-
ced skiers, big and small, with 5 lifts, 2 ski schools, a snow machine
and optimally-prepared pistes. An extensive network of cross-country
ski tracks, toboggan runs and a canopied natural skating rink also
ensure a variety of winter fun opportunities besides the pleasures of the
piste.
The south-facing Alpine pastures of the Kreuzeck Group are, however, a
real insiders’ tip for those who love snowshoe hiking and ski tours.
Make your own tracks in freshly-fallen snow, far from the usual hustle
and bustle of the piste.
