1 Voraussetzungen
1.1 Hardware-Voraussetzungen
Rechner Das Produkt CP-5412/Windows NT kann nur auf einem AT-

kompatiblen PC mit ISA-Steckplatz eingesetzt werden.
☞ Bitte lesen Sie hierzu auch die Datei LIESMICH.TXT auf der
SIMATIC NET CD.
CP 5412 (A2) Zum Betrieb benötigen Sie einen SIMATIC NET-Kommunikations-

prozessor CP 5412 (A2). Stellen Sie bitte vor dem Einbau des
CP 5412 (A2) dessen E/A-Bereich so ein, wie es von der Installations-
prozedur vorgeschlagen wird. Beim Einbau von mehreren Baugruppen
ist darauf zu achten, daß auf jedem CP ein anderer E/A-Bereich ein-
gestellt ist.
E/A-Bereich Jeder CP 5412 (A2) belegt vier fortlaufende Adressen des E/A-
Adreßraums ab einer einstellbaren Basisadresse. Als Basisadressen
(hex.) stehen zur Auswahl:
240, 244, 248, 24C,
280, 284, 288, 28C,
300, 304, 308, 30C,
390, 394, 398, 39C
Die Einstellung der Adresse (per DIL-Schalter) wird im Kapitel 6
„Anhang - Installationsanleitung des CP 5412 (A2)“ beschrieben.
Stellen Sie bitte sicher, daß die von Ihnen bei der Konfiguration ge-
wählten E/A-Bereiche in Ihrem Rechner nicht anderweitig belegt sind.

1.2 Software-Voraussetzungen
Betriebssystem Als Betriebssystem wird Windows NT ab Version 4.0 vorausgesetzt.
Interrupt Jeder CP 5412 (A2) belegt im Betrieb einen Interrupt. Dieser ist über
die Software einstellbar und kann unter den folgenden Werten gewählt
werden:
IRQ 5, IRQ 10, IRQ 11, IRQ 12, IRQ 15.
Stellen Sie bitte sicher, daß der von Ihnen gewählte Interrupt in Ihrem
Rechner nicht anderweitig belegt ist.
Dualport-RAM- Jeder CP 5412 (A2) belegt beim Betrieb einen Speicherbereich von
Adreßbereich 16 Kbyte. Die Lage des Bereichs wird im Konfigurationsprogramm
eingestellt.
Stellen Sie bitte sicher, daß der von Ihnen gewählte Speicherbereich
von keiner anderen Komponente des Rechners benutzt wird.
☞ Bei einigen Rechnermodellen ist bei einem Speicherausbau

über 16 MByte der Zugriff auf den ISA-Bus nur im Bereich
D 0000H - D FFFFH oder E 0000H - E FFFFH möglich. Eventuell
müssen Sie Einstellungen im BIOS Ihres Rechners vorneh-
men. Lesen Sie hierzu die BIOS-Beschreibung Ihres Rechners.
SIMATIC NET-CD Das Programmpaket wird zusammen mit anderen SIMATIC NET-
Produkten auf einer CD-ROM geliefert.
Die rote Diskette (Schlüsseldiskette) enthält die Autorisierungsinforma-
tion für das Programmpaket und ist nicht schreibgeschützt.
Speicherbedarf auf Der Speicherbedarf des Produkts wird bei der Installation angezeigt
der Festplatte und der vorhandene Platz auf dem Ziellaufwerk überprüft.

2 Hardware-Einschränkungen
2.1 Rechner mit SCSI-Controller
Speicherbereich- Beachten Sie bitte bei allen SCSI-Controllern die Beschreibung des
auswahl Herstellers bezüglich des verwendeten Speicherbereichs.
So wird z. B. unter Windows NT 4.0 von der SCSI-Controller-Familie
AHA 154x der verwendete Speicherbereich (Werkseinstellung:
D 8000H - D BFFFH) nicht dem Betriebssystem angemeldet. Sie müs-
sen darauf achten, daß sich in diesem Fall der Speicherbereich des
CP 5412 (A2) damit nicht überschneidet.
Falls sich die Speicherbereiche des CP und des

SCSI-Controllers überschneiden, kann es zu einem Speicher-
☞ fehler kommen, der zum Abbruch von Windows führt. Um
Windows erneut erfolgreich starten zu können, muß in diesem
Fall mindestens einer der betroffenen Treiber entfernt oder de-
aktiviert werden. Befragen Sie hierzu Ihren Systemadministra-
tor.
☞ Eine Überschneidung der Speicherbereiche kann u.U. auch zur

Zerstörung der Daten auf der Festplatte führen.
☞ Befindet sich der SCSI-Controller auf dem Motherboard, kann

es bei Speicherbereichsüberschneidungen zum Löschen des
BIOS kommen. Deswegen empfehlen wir in diesem Fall die
Benutzung höherliegender Speicherbereiche für CP 1413 bzw.
CP 5412 (A2).

3 Autorisierung
Schlüsseldiskette Jedes Produkt wird mit einer Schlüsseldiskette (Autorisierungsdiskette)

ausgeliefert. Auf dieser befindet sich ein Autorisierungsschlüssel, der
für den Betrieb des Produkts notwendig ist. Bei der Installation wird
dieser Schlüssel auf Ihrer Festplatte abgelegt. Jedes installierte Pro-
dukt benötigt für den uneingeschränkten Betrieb eine gültige Autorisie-
rung. Fehlende Autorisierungsinformationen werden während des Be-
triebs regelmäßig auf dem Bildschirm gemeldet.
☞ Die Schlüsseldiskette kann nicht kopiert werden.

☞ Löschen Sie bitte nicht das Verzeichnis „\ax nf zz“ oder darin
abgelegte Dateien!
Falls Sie Ihre Festplatte neu formatieren wollen, müssen Sie die
Autorisierungsinformation vorher mit dem Programm
AUTHORSW.EXE auf die Schlüsseldiskette zurück übertragen.
Andernfalls geht die Autorisierungsinformation verloren, und Sie
können das Produkt nicht weiter nutzen. Stellen Sie bei der Rück-
übertragung sicher, daß Sie die Diskette eingelegt haben, von der
Sie die Autorisierungsinformation installiert haben.
Es ist nicht möglich, die Autorisierungsinformation durch einfa-
ches Kopieren von der Festplatte auf eine Diskette oder von der
Diskette auf die Festplatte zu übertragen.
Autorisierung bei Wenn Sie eine Update der SIMATIC NET Software durchführen
Update-Paketen wollen, ist es nicht notwendig, die Autorisierung wieder neu zu
übertragen. Sie können statt dessen im Setup-Dialog „Ziellauf-
werke“ den Haken „Autorisierung automatisch durchführen“ her-
ausnehmen oder später im Dialog „Schlüsseldiskette“ die Schalt-
fläche „Übergehen“ betätigen.

4 Installation der Software
4.1 Vorbereitung
Vorbereitung der Zur Vorbereitung der Software-Installation gehen Sie bitte wie folgt

✓ Lesen Sie die Datei LIESMICH.TXT auf der CD-ROM.
✓ Lesen Sie die vorliegende Installationsanleitung sorgfältig durch.
Installation mit CD Das von Ihnen gewünschte Produkt ist auf der beigefügten CD enthal-
ten.
Unter Windows 98 und Windows NT erfolgt die Installation über das
Installationsprogramm SETUP.EXE im Hauptverzeichnis der CD.
Installation mit Wenn das gewünschte Produkt auf einem Rechner ohne CD-ROM-
Disketten Laufwerk installiert werden soll, ist es notwendig, das gewünschte Pro-
dukt von der CD auf Disketten zu kopieren.
Dann kann das Produkt durch Aufruf von SETUP.EXE auf der ersten
Diskette installiert werden.
Kopieren des Nachfolgend wird beschrieben, wie Sie das gewünschte Produkt von
gewünschten der beigefügten CD auf Disketten kopieren können:

gewünschten Produkts. Dort befindet sich für jede Diskette,
die Sie kopieren müssen, ein Verzeichnis mit der Bezeich-
nung DISK1, DISK2 usw.

2 Kopieren Sie die Inhalte der Diskettenverzeichnisse auf

einzelne Disketten.

4.2 Hinweise zur Installation
Benötigte Rechte Zur Installation benötigen Sie Administratorrechte (Sie müssen Mit-
unter Windows NT glied der lokalen Gruppe “Administratoren” sein), für den Betrieb
nicht.
Ohne Administratorrechte können Sie Applikationen für die verschie-

denen Protokolle (DP, FMS, S7, FDL, TF oder Send/Receive) betrei-
ben.
Administrator- Administratorrechte benötigen Sie, um die Software zu installieren

rechte und zum Starten und Beenden von Treibern. Dies bedeutet, daß Sie
alle Operationen des Werkzeugs „PG/PC-Schnittstelle einstellen“, die
einen Neuanlauf der Baugruppenparametrierung erfordern, nur als
Administrator ausführen können.
Als Nutzer ohne Administratorrechte erhalten Sie die Meldung „Sie
haben keine ausreichenden Rechte, um einen Neuanlauf des CP’s
durchzuführen“.
Sie müssen neu starten oder sich mit Administratorrechten anmel-
den. Die Vorgehensweise schlagen Sie bitte in den Windows NT-
Unterlagen nach.
NTFS-Dateisystem Falls Sie das NTFS-Dateisystem von Windows NT einsetzen, können

für jede Datei benutzerspezifische Zugriffsrechte vergeben werden.
Sie müssen daher sicherstellen, daß der Nutzer einer Funktion auch
berechtigt ist, auf die für die Operation benötigten Dateien zuzugrei-
fen.
Sie können eine Datenbasis z. B. nur in einem Verzeichnis ablegen,
für das Sie auch Schreibrechte haben; bei eingeschaltetem Trace
müssen Sie Schreibrechte für die Trace-Datei haben; dasselbe gilt
für andere Log-Dateien, die Sie mit den Diagnosewerkzeugen anle-
gen können.
Notwendige Der Anwender benötigt Leserechte an den Einträgen unter

Rechte an der HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens.
Registrier-
datenbank von Falls Änderungen durch die Konfigurationswerkzeuge erlaubt sein
Windows NT sollen, muß der Anwender auch Schreibrechte am Unterschlüssel
SINEC und dessen Unterschlüsseln besitzen.
Standardmäßig ist für alle Benutzer der lesende und schreibende
Zugriff auf die Schlüssel unter
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens erlaubt.
Zugriffsrechte für Bitte beachten sie die besonderen Zugriffsrechte für OPC (siehe
die OPC- OPC-Dokumentation).
Schnittstelle

Bildschirmschoner Bei Einsatz eines Bildschirmschoners ist zu beachten, daß die Bear-
beitung CPU-Zeit kostet und damit zu Überlast des Systems führen
kann. Es sind Bildschirmschoner bekannt, bei denen Hauptspeicher-
anteile nicht mehr freigegeben werden. Dadurch reduziert sich konti-
nuierlich der nutzbare Hauptspeicher.
Viren-Scanner Der Einsatz eines Viren-Scanners im laufenden Betrieb kann zur Stö-
rung von Hardware-Erweiterungen führen.
Es wird empfohlen, Virentests nicht während des Betriebs von
CP-5412/Windows NT auszuführen. Nach dem Virentest sollte der
Rechner rückgesetzt werden, bevor Sie eine Prozeßkopplung aktivie-
ren.
Bei der Installation Bitte stellen Sie sicher, daß vor der Installation des vorliegenden
beachten Produkts keine Applikationen gestartet werden, die bereits installierte
SIMATIC NET-Komponenten nutzen.
☞ ACHTUNG!!!
Falls bei der Installation des vorliegenden Produkts auszutau-
schende Software-Komponenten in Gebrauch sind, so werden sie
nicht ersetzt. Dies führt zu einer unvollständigen Installation, was
sich anschließend in Betriebsstörungen äußern kann.
Installation im Falls Sie bereits ein SINEC- oder SIMATIC NET-Produkt installiert
selben Laufwerk haben, sollten Sie die neue Installation unbedingt auf dem selben
Laufwerk durchführen!
☞
Der Dienst Bei der Installation unter Windows NT wird ein „SIMATIC NET Syn-
„SIMATIC NET chronisation Service“ eingerichtet und immer automatisch gestartet.

☞ Beenden Sie diesen Dienst keinesfalls und deaktivieren Sie Ihn
auch nicht in der Systemsteuerung. Sie dürfen auch den zu-
gehörigen Prozeß „Sim9Sync“ nicht beenden. Das Produkt
kann ohne diesen Prozeß nicht korrekt arbeiten.

Uninstaller und Beim Deinstallieren dieses Produkts mit einem Programm, das
Lizenz Software aus Windows deinstalliert (Uninstaller), kann die Lizenz
☞ verlorengehen.
Erläuterung
Die oben genannte Warnung gilt für alle diejenigen Anwender, die
dieses Produkt mit einem Uninstaller installiert haben.
Wenn Sie nun dieses Produkt mit dem Uninstaller deinstallieren wol-
len, müssen Sie vor der Deinstallation die Lizenz wieder auf Ihre
Schlüsseldiskette zurückübertragen! Benutzen Sie hierfür das Pro-
gramm „AUTHORSW.EXE“ auf der Schlüsseldiskette.
Andernfalls kann es, je nach Uninstaller, dazu führen, daß dieser wäh-
rend der Deinstallation die Lizenz für dieses Produkt zerstört.

4.3 Start
Start der SW- Die Installation der Software muß mit dem mitgelieferten Installations-
Installation programm erfolgen, da ein Teil der Software komprimiert auf der CD
vorliegt.
Zur Software-Installation gehen Sie bitte wie folgt vor:
✓ Starten Sie Ihren Rechner mit MS-Windows NT.
Melden Sie sich als Administrator bei Ihrem Windows NT-System an.
✓
Legen Sie die SIMATIC NET-CD in Ihr CD-ROM-Laufwerk ein.
✓
Starten Sie die Datei SETUP.EXE auf Ihrer CD.
✓
✓ Folgen Sie den Anweisungen des Installationsprogramms.
Aktivieren Sie in dem Dialog „Produktauswahl“ die Kontrollkästchen für

✓ die Produkte, die Sie installieren wollen.

☞ Falls Sie bereits SIMATIC NET-Produkte installiert haben wird im

Verlauf des Setups der Dialog „Update-Auswahl“ angezeigt.
Da die Parallelinstallation von SIMATIC NET Produkten nur für die
auf der gleichen CD ausgelieferten Versionen freigegeben ist,
sollten Sie für alle auf Ihrem Rechner bereits installierten
SIMATIC NET Produkte ein Update durchführen lassen.
Weiteres Vorgehen Nach der Software-Installation erfolgt die Baugruppenkonfiguration, bei

der Sie einen CP installieren und ihm Ressourcen zuordnen. Danach
erfolgt die Software-Konfiguration, bei der Sie einen Zugangspunkt für
die Applikation erstellen und diesem eine Schnittstellenparametrierung
zuordnen.

4.4 Konfiguration
Vorbereitung der Nach der Übertragung der Software auf Ihre Festplatte starten Sie bitte

Software übergehen.

Wie gelange ich in In das Konfigurationsprogramm mit dem Dialogfeld „Baugruppe instal-
das lieren/deinstallieren“ können Sie über drei Wege gelangen:

• Über das „Setup“-Programm, wenn Sie im letzten Dialogfeld des
programm? Setup-Programms die Option „Ja, Konfigurations-Programm jetzt
starten“ gewählt haben.
• Über den SIMATIC-Pfad (Task-Leiste Start ➜ Simatic ➜
SIMATIC NET ➜ PG-PC-Schnittstelle einstellen).
• Über die Systemsteuerung von Windows NT (Task-Leiste Start ➜
Einstellungen ➜ Systemsteuerung ➜ PG/PC-Schnittstelle
einstellen).
Informationen zu Freie Ressourcen (Interrupt, E/A-Bereich, RAM-Adresse) können unter

Hardware- Windows NT mit der NT-Diagnose bestimmt werden (Task-Leiste Start
Ressourcen ➜ Programme ➜ Verwaltung (Allgemein) ➜ Windows NT-Diag-
nose ➜ Ressourcen).

Vorgehen bei der Nachdem das Konfigurationsprogramm gestartet ist, fahren Sie wie

„E/A-Bereich“ die Angabe eines Wertepaares, z. B. 0240H
- 0243H. Merken Sie sich den Wert, Sie benötigen ihn zur
Einstellung des E/A-Bereichs des CP 5412 (A2).
Konfiguration der Nachdem Sie die Hardware-Parameter festgelegt haben, müssen Sie

zum Register „Zugriffsweg“, in dem Sie die Software konfigurieren
können.
Vorgehen bei der Fahren Sie in dem Register „Zugriffsweg“ wie in folgender Tabelle

1 Wählen Sie in dem Listenfeld „Zugangspunkt der Applika-
tion“ einen Zugangspunkt aus.
Sie können auch durch Auswahl des Eintrags „<Hinzufü-
gen/Löschen>“ einen neuen Zugangspunkt erstellen.
2 Wählen Sie in dem Listenfeld „Benutzte Schnittstellenpa-
rametrierung“ eine Schnittstellenparametrierung aus.
3 Konfigurieren Sie die gewählte Schnittstellenparametrie-
rung über die Schaltfläche „Eigenschaften“.

CP_L2_x ist dem CP 5412 (A2) (PROFIBUS) zuzuordnen.

4.5 SAPI-S7-Datenbasis erstellen
Datenbasis Wenn Sie eine SAPI-S7-Datenbasis erstellen wollen, gibt es zwei

erstellen Möglichkeiten:
1. Möglichkeit
Sie erstellen eine Datenbasis mit dem Programm „STEP 7“ (emp-
fohlen).
Hier können Sie das Format wählen, mit dem Sie die Datenbasis er-
stellen wollen:
• LDB-Format oder
• XDB-Format
Vorgehensweise: Lesen Sie bitte dazu die Dokumentation, die bei
STEP 7 (ab Version 4.2) enthalten ist.
2. Möglichkeit
Sie erstellen eine Datenbasis mit dem Programm „COML S7“. Das
Format der Datenbasis ist „LDB“.
Vorgehensweise: Starten Sie das Programm „COML S7“ über den
Simatic-Pfad (Start-Leiste Start ➜ Simatic ➜ SIMATIC NET ➜
COML S7).
☞ Sie können weiterhin die mit COML-S7 erzeugten Datenbasen

(LDB-Datei) verwenden, auch gleichzeitig mit der
XDB-Konfigurationsdatei. Es wird aber empfohlen, nur
XDB-Konfigurationsdateien zu verwenden.
Vorteile XDB mit • Es ist nur ein Werkzeug erforderlich (STEP 7).

• In STEP 7 projektieren Sie alle PCs und SIMATIC-S7 Stationen in
einem Projekt.
• Die Busparameter und die Stationsadresse der Netzwerkkarte auf
dem PC werden automatisch richtig eingestellt.
• Die erforderlichen Verbindungs-Ressourcen werden automatische
überprüft.
Voraussetzung Es ist STEP 7 Version 5 mit Service Pack 3 erforderlich.

Hardware- Der CP 5412 (A2) ist eine Steckkarte für IBM-AT-kompatible PC/PG
voraussetzungen und benötigt für den Betrieb einen 16-Bit-breiten ISA-Slot.
☞ Bitte beachten Sie beim Einbau der Baugruppe die Maßnahmen

gegen elektrostatische Aufladung (EGB).
☞ Das Öffnen des PC/PG sowie das Stecken und Ziehen der Bau-
gruppe ist nur im spannungslosen Zustand erlaubt.
☞ Bitte lesen Sie vor dem Einbau der Baugruppe im Handbuch Ihres
PC/PG das Kapitel „Einbau von Baugruppen“ o. ä. ganz durch
und beachten Sie die Anweisungen.
Konfigurations- Über das Konfigurationsregister werden sämtliche, für den Betrieb der
register Baugruppe benötigten Werte, über die Software auf den CP geladen.
Das Konfigurationsregister belegt vier Adressen im Ein-/Ausgabe-
bereich (auch E/A-Bereich genannt) des PC. Die 4 Adressen, die be-
legt werden, werden über den DIL-Schalter eingestellt. Die Lage des
DIL-Schalters auf der Baugruppe ist Bild 6.1 zu entnehmen.

1 Requirements
1.1 Hardware- Requirements
Computer The product CP-5412/Windows NT can only be used on AT-compatible

PCs with an ISA slot.
☞ Please read the README.TXT file on the SIMATIC NET CD.
CP 5412 (A2) You require a CP 5412 (A2) SIMATIC NET communications processor
for operation. Before plugging in the CP 5412 (A2) module please set
the DIP switch to the I/O range proposed by the installation program. If
you are installing several modules, make sure that a different I/O
range is set on each CP.
I/O Range Each CP 5412 (A2) occupies four continuous addresses in the I/O
address area starting at a selectable base address. The following base
addresses (hex) are available:
240, 244, 248, 24C,
280, 284, 288, 28C,
300, 304, 308, 30C,
390, 394, 398, 39C.
How to set the address (with a DIL switch) is described in Chapter 6,
„Appendix - Installation Instructions for the CP 5412 (A2)“.
Please make sure that the I/O range you have selected is not used for
any other purpose in your system.

1.2 Software- Requirements
Operating System The product requires Windows NT version 4.0 or higher as the
operating system.
Interrupt Each CP 5412 (A2) requires one interrupt for operation. This can be
set in the software. Make sure that one of the following interrupts on
your system is free for the CP 5412 (A2):
IRQ 5, IRQ 10, IRQ 11, IRQ 12, IRQ 15
You should also make sure that the interrupt you selected is not being
used already by other components in your system.
Dual-port RAM Each CP 5412 (A2) occupies a memory area of 16 Kbytes during
Address Area operation. The location of the area is set in the configuration program.
Make sure that the memory you select is not used by any other
component in your system.
☞ On some computer models with a memory configuration greater

than 16 Mbytes, access to the ISA bus is only possible in areas
D 0000H - D FFFFH or E 0000H - E FFFFH. You may have to change
settings in the BIOS of your computer. For more information,
read the BIOS description of your computer.
SIMATIC NET-CD The program package is shipped along with other

SIMATIC NET products on a CD-ROM.
The red diskette (key diskette) contains the authorization information
for the program package and is not read only.

2 Hardware Restrictions
2.1 Computers with an SCSI Controller

Under Windows NT 4.0, the SCSI controller family AHA 154x, for
example, does not report the memory range used (default: D 8000H -
D BFFFH) to the operating system. In this case, make sure that the
memory range of the CP 5412 (A2) does not overlap this range.
If the memory ranges of the CP and the SCSI controller over-

lap, this can result in a memory error that will cause Win-
dows to crash. To restart Windows successfully, at least one
of the drivers involved must be removed or deactivated. Check
with your system administrator about the best course of ac-
tion.
☞ An overlap of the memory areas may also destroy the data on

the hard disk.
☞ If the SCSI controller is located on the motherboard, it is pos-

sible that the BIOS will be deleted if memory ranges overlap. In
this situation, we therefore recommend that you use the higher
memory ranges for the CP 1413 or CP 5412 (A2).

3 Authorization
Key Diskette Each product is shipped with a key diskette (authorization diskette).
This contains an authorization key required to operate the product.
During installation, the key is copied to your hard disk. Each product
installed requires a valid authorization for unrestricted operation. If
authorization information is missing, a message to this effect is
displayed at regular intervals.
☞ The authorization diskette cannot be copied.

If you want to reformat your hard disk, you must first transfer the
authorization information back to the key diskette using the
AUTHORSW.EXE program. If you do not do this, the authorization
information is lost and you can no longer use the product. When
you uninstall the authorization information, make sure that you
use the original diskette from which you installed the
authorization information.
The authorization information cannot be transferred from the
hard disk to a diskette or from a diskette to the hard disk by
simply using the normal copy function.

mark from the “Run automatic authorization” check box in the
“Target drive” dialog or later click the “Skip” button in the “Key

4 Software Installation
4.1 First Steps

4.2 Installation Notes
Required Rights To install products you require Administrator rights (you must belong to
the local group "Administrators"). This is not necessary for operation.
Without administrator rights, you can run the applications for the
various protocols (DP, FMS, S7, FDL, TF or SEND/RECEIVE).

NTFS file system If you use the NTFS file system of Windows NT, you can assign
individual, user-specific rights for each individual file.
To run some functions, files must be accessed and the required result
is only achieved when the user of the function has adequate rights to
access the file and folder.
If, for example, you do not have write permission for the folder in
which you want to save a database, you will not be able to save a
database in that folder. A trace functions only when you have write
permission for the trace file. The same applies to other log files that
can be created by diagnostic tools.
Required Rights The user requires permission to read entries under the key
Relating the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Siemens".

Virus Scanner Using a virus scanner during operation can cause problems with
hardware expansions.
It is recommended that you do not run virus tests while
CP-5412/Windows NT is active. After a virus test, you should reset
your computer before you activate an interface to the process.
Important Note Before you install this product, please make sure that no other

If software components that would normally be replaced during
installation of this product are already in use, they are retained
and not replaced without any error message being displayed.
This means that the installation is incomplete and you may
encounter problems later during operation.

4.3 Start

Preparing to Install To install the CP 5412 (A2) you require the value set for the I/O range

4.5 Creating the SAPI-S7 Database

Configuration Using the configuration register all the values required for operating the
Register module are loaded on the CP by software. the configuration register
occupies four addresses in the I/O area of the PC. The 4 occupied
addresses are set using the DIP switch. Fig. 6.1 shows the position of
the DIP switch on the module.

6.1 Problems Assigning Hardware Resources
If you see error messages displayed when you restart the module or
the computer, you have the following diagnostic tools available:
• Event Viewer in Windows NT
• Windows NT Diagnostics (Start ➜ Programs ➜ Administra-
tive Tools (Common) ➜ Windows NT Diagnostics)
• Message from the PG/PC interface
• Checking the BIOS settings
Event Viewer in You can display the event viewer of Windows NT by navigating Start
Windows NT: ➜ Programs ➜ Administrative Tools (Common) ➜ Event

The event viewer displays the last system messages. In the Source
