RATIONALE

The reason why I do this study is to show awareness to the children who are not aware

of what watching television could lead to. Television has been loved by many people. As far as I

know television can be good but it can’t be good also. This study is not only focusing on the

children but it would be a great help to the parents to know that letting their children watching

too much television could lead to bad and good effects.

Many people saying that watching television is good but without minding that it could

also lead to positive and negative effects. We can’t control someone’s life to choose what shows

or movies they want to watch but we are talking about what influence in watching television we

could have. One of the biggest influences in this century is television. We should not let the

children engaged to the negative sides of television. Viewers sometime imitate violent, criminal,

sexual, or other risky behavior they see on TV and up in trouble, in jail, or in a hospital as a

result. And also it would be danger to our health. A psychiatrist Dr. Victor Cline argued in 1089

that all the pictures they see in television it can clearly affects the self image then, later behavior

of young people. Although in watching television it has a positive side such as it can expand our

mind, it helped as fell less lonely and lastly accesses some information.

We can’t tell that television is good to children but we should think if television is really

helpful to children. Be aware of what circumstances television has because every too much is

bad for us. We should set up a when-then routine, quit negotiating, and refuse to engage of

watching television. This study showed consciousness of watching television.

ABSTRACT

This study has made and aimed to show what would be the effects of watching too much of
television and what positive and negative effects could television could give to the students.
There were five (5) junior high students-respondents of Libertad National High School in this
study which was selected using the face-to-face Method. This research conducted during the
school year 2019-2020. The researcher engages an in-depth interview using the guide
questionnaire that made personally by the researcher to gather information. This study found
out that the students are not aware of what television could lead to them and it shows
awareness to the viewers of television. On the other hand the students should know that
television is not only a tool for entertaining but it can affect their behavior, and morality.
