The stepping motor rotates the 360° card via a two-step toothed wheel gearing with a transmission ratio of 1:36. The 10° card is equipped with a graduation of 1/10° and the 360° card with a gradua- tion of 5°. Both cards are translucent and are lit up around the lubber line by green LEDs. If itis intended to indicate data via an NMEA RS 422 interface (possible from Version E02), the repeater compass recognizes this type of interface and changes automatically over to gyro / magnetic compass operation. In addition to analog course display by the 360° and the 10° card, the steering repeater compass is also equipped with a digital course display on the left display PCB. This course display cannot be desynchronized (refer here to Fig. 3-1). The corresponding course sig- nal processing is also carried out on the steering repeater PCB. This digital display also reports any possible error or alarm by means of a preset display code. ‘LED — also mounted on the left display PCB — signalizes the status of the repeater com- pass and of the telegram: = ted: Repeater compass is defective (alarm indication) or the telegram is not o. k. = green: Repeater compass is available and telegram is 0. k. is converter steps on the steering repeater PCB for the Various functions can be selected via two keys on the right display PCB: — 18'Function: DIM This function is constantly on and is not displayed specially.
