WHAT IS A FOREST?
 A forest can be defined as a region with
a high density of trees.
 Forest is the habitat for a variety of
living beings including plants, animals
and microorganisms.
 It can also be explained as a large area
thickly covered with different varieties
of trees and plants.
Trees and Plants
 Trees and plants give us clean water to drink, air to
breathe, shade and food to humans, animals and plants.
 They provide habitats for numerous species of fauna and
flora, firewood for cooking and heat, materials for
buildings and places of spiritual, cultural and recreational
importance.
Other than Plants
Other than trees, forest consist of a wide
variety of mosses, algae, fungi, insects,
mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, etc.
First, the known forest arose in the Devonian
period. A forest consists of a large number of
fern-like and tree-like plants of Archaeopteris.
IMPORTANCE OF FORESTS

 Provide Oxygen  Sound and pollution


 Reduce global warming absorber
 Regulate climate and  Keep balance in ecosystem
temperature  Place to connect with nature
 Mitigate natural hazards  Source to study nature and
like food its elements
 Source of multiple food  Home to many animals
items and material

 They produce large quantities of oxygen and take in carbon
dioxide.
