Residenza
Mit dem Projekt «residenza» möchten wir Kunst- und Kul-
turschaffenden die Möglichkeit bieten, sich für ihre Arbeit
zurückzuziehen und sich intensiv mit ortsbezogenen The-
men auseinanderzusetzen.

Das Projekt entstand im Jahr 2023 aus dem Gedanken her-

aus, den im Sommer leerstehenden Wohnraum in Tersnaus
zu beleben und einen kulturellen Mehrwert, eine Aussen-
perspektive auf die Region zu kreieren.

Wohnraum
Das 1934 erbaute ehemalige Schulhaus befindet sich zwi-
schen Kirche, Schreinerei und landwirtschaftlichem Hof.
Küche, Bad, Schlafzimmer und Wohnzimmer mit Aussicht
stehen zur Verfügung. Je nach Umständen wird die Woh-
nung mit einem/einer anderen Künstler*in geteilt.

Tersnaus
Das 40-Seelen-Dorf befindet sich in der Gemeinde Lumne-
zia und geografisch am Eingang des Valsertals. Nach dem
Dorfbrand im Jahre 1900 wurde es Schachbrettförmig wie-
deraufgebaut, was dem Dorf eine charakteristisches Archi-
tekturbild gibt. Zurzeit sind 5 landwirtschaftliche Höfe und
eine Schreinerei aktiv. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt es in
Ilanz (mit Postauto 20 Minuten), die nächste Beiz im Nach-
bardorf Uors.

Organisation
Seit 2024 läuft das Projekt «residenza» unter der Fundazi-
un da Cultura Lumnezia und arbeitet eng mit der Casa d'An-
gel zusammen. Geleitet wird die Residenz von Leander Albin
(Musik- und Theaterschaffender, Lehrer und Schreiner) und
Aline Schoch (Animationsfilmschaffende und Sound Desig-
nerin). Für die Auswahl der Projekte wird ein Mitglied der
Kulturstiftung und die Leiterin des bündner Kunstvereins
Iris Aschwanden hinzugezogen.

Casa d'Angel
Die Casa d'Angel in Lumbrein ist seit 2015 das Kultur- und
Ausstellungshaus der Lumnezia. Hier werden zu aktuellen
Themen und mit namhaften Gastkurator*innen kunst- und
kulturhistorische Ausstellungen realisiert. Ein Begleitpro-
gramm mit Vorträgen, kleinen Konzerten und Führungen
gehört dazu, ebenso die professionellen Vermittlungsange-
bote für Kinder, Jugendliche, Familien und Senior*innen. Das
alte Bauernhaus steht seit über 400 Jahren neben der Kir-
che S. Martin in Lumbrein. 1987 wurde es vom Architektur-
büro Peter Zumthor renoviert und als Gemeindehaus ge-
nutzt.

Thema
2025 wird in der Casa d‘Angel im Rahmen des «Festival da la
chanzun rumantscha» eine Ausstellung zu rätoromani-
scher Musik und Gesang stattfinden. Ausgewählte Arbeiten
aus der Residenz können dort ausgestellt werden. Wir freu-
en uns besonders auf Eingaben im folgendem Themenfeld:

Aufenthalt
Wir bieten drei Zeiträume für einen vier- oder
sechswöchigen Aufenthalt an.
Residenza I: 03.06. - 09.07.
Residenza II: 22.07. - 16.08.
Residenza III: 19.08. - 13.09.

Am Ankunftstag gibt es eine kleine Einführung im Schul-

haus sowie einen Spaziergang im Dorf. Am Tag darauf wer-
den die Künstler*innen zu einem Abendessen eingeladen,
um sich kennenzulernen und über den Aufenthalt zu spre-
chen. Bis kurz vor der Vernissage am Ende des Aufenthaltes
sind die Kunstschaffenden frei, sich ihrer Arbeit zu widmen.
Die Vernissage wird in der letzten Woche zusammen mit
dem Organisationsteam gestaltet.

Sensibilität
Es ist uns sehr wichtig, dass die Künstler*innen einen sen-
siblen Umgang mit dem Ort und dessen Bewohnenden ha-
ben. Nur so entsteht ein nachhaltiger kultureller Austausch,
welcher Nährboden für neue künstlerische Arbeiten sein
kann. Für viele Menschen ist das Dorf Lebensmittelpunkt,
Alltags- oder Rückzugsort. Wiesen sind wichtig für die Heu-
ernte, Ruhe ein wertvolles Gut, Privatsphäre geht über das
Haus hinaus. Um sich mit ortsbezogenen Themen ausein-
andersetzen zu können, kann der Miteinbezug von Dorfbe-
wohnenden jedoch wichtig sein und sich auch sehr positiv
auf die Arbeit, die Auseinandersetzung mit Themen und die
Resonanz auswirken. Wir sind uns diesem Grat bewusst
und stehen bei der Kontaktsuche mit Dorfbewohnenden für
partizipative Projekte gerne zur Verfügung.

Bewerbung
Das Bewerbungsfenster ist bis zum 7. April 2024 geöffnet.
Die Künstler*innen können sich für eine oder mehrere der
aufgelisteten Residenzen (I-III) bewerben. Andere Zeiträu-
me stehen nicht zur Verfügung. Auch benötigen wir eine
Angabe über die Bereitschaft, den Wohnraum mit anderen
Kunstschaffenden zu teilen.
In der Anmeldung enthalten sein müssen die Projektidee
(1-3 Seiten), CV und Portfolio der Kunstschaffenden. Die Un-
terlagen sind in PDF-Form entweder vereint oder in separa-
ten Files per Mail an residenza@casadangel.ch zu senden
(falls die Dateien zu gross sind, per Downloadlink).

Residenza
With the «residenza» project, we want to offer the oppor-
tunity for artists to retreat for their work and engage inten-
sively with local themes.

The project was launched in 2023 with the idea of revitali-

sing the living space in Tersnaus that is vacant in the sum-
mer and creating added cultural value and an external per-
spective on the region.

Living space
The former schoolhouse, built in 1934, is located between
the church, the carpentry and a farmyard. A kitchen, ba-
throom, bedroom and living room with a view are available.
Depending on the circumstances, the flat may be shared
with another artist.

Tersnaus
The village of 40 inhabitants is located in the municipality
of Lumnezia and geographically at the entrance to the Vals
Valley. After the village fire in 1900, it was rebuilt in the sha-
pe of a chessboard, giving the village a characteristic archi-
tectural appearance. There are currently 5 active farms and
a carpentry workshop. There are shops in Ilanz (20 minutes
by post bus) and the nearest pub in the neighbouring village
of Uors.

Organisation
The «residenza» project has been running under the Cultu-
ral Foundation of Lumnezia since 2024 and works closely
with the Casa d'Angel. The residency is run by Leander Albin
(musician and theatre maker, teacher and carpenter) and
Aline Schoch (animation film maker and sound designer). A
member of the Cultural Foundation and Iris Aschwanden,
director of the Graubünden Art Association, will be involved
in selecting the projects.

Casa d'Angel
The Casa d'Angel in Lumbrein has been the cultural and ex-
hibition centre of Lumnezia since 2015. Art and cultural-
historical exhibitions on current topics are organised with
renowned guest curators. An accompanying programme
with lectures, small concerts and guided tours is also part
of the museum, as are professional educational services for
children, teenagers, families and seniors. The old farmhouse
has stood next to the church of St. Martin in Lumbrein for
over 400 years. In 1987, it was renovated by the architect Pe-
ter Zumthor and used as a community centre.

Theme
In 2025, the Casa d'Angel will host an exhibition on Ro-
mansh music and singing as part of the «Festival da la
chanzun rumantscha». Selected works from the residency
can be exhibited there. We are especially looking forward to
submissions in the following subject area:

Stay
We offer three periods for a four- or
six-week stay.
Residenza I: 03.06. - 09.07.
Residenza II: 22.07. - 16.08.
Residenza III: 19.08. - 13.09.

On the day of arrival there will be a short introduction in

the schoolhouse and a walk in the village. The following day,
the artists are invited to a dinner to get to know each other
and talk about the residency. The artists are free to devote
themselves to their work until shortly before the vernissage
at the end of the residency. The vernissage is organised in
the last week together with the organisation team.

Sensitivity
It is very important to us that the artists have a sensitive
approach to the location and its residents. This is the only
way to create a sustainable cultural exchange that can be a
breeding ground for new artistic works. For many people,
the village is the centre of their lives, a place of everyday life
or a place of retreat. Meadows are important for the hay
harvest, tranquillity is a valuable commodity, privacy ex-
tends beyond the house. However, the involvement of villa-
gers can be important for dealing with local issues and can
also have a very positive effect on the work, the discussion of
topics and the response. We are aware of this and are happy
to help you find contact with villagers for participatory pro-
jects.

Application
The application window is open until 7th of April 2024.
Artists can apply for one or more of the residencies listed
(I-III). Other periods are not available. We also require infor-
mation about the willingness to share the living space with
other artists. The application must include the project idea
(1-3 pages), CV and portfolio of the artists. The documents
must be sent in PDF form either together or as separate files
by e-mail to residenza@casadangel.ch (if the files are too
large, use a download link).
