2 Features SIPLACE Pro 5.0

2.1 Features in combination with Station Software 604

2.1.1 Support of SIPLACE Machines with Station Software 604

SIPLACE Pro 5.0 supports the SIPLACE machine types running with station software 604
You find a more detailed list in Appendix C: Platform – Station Software – Machine.

2.1.2 Higher placement performance of C&P20 heads of X series

With station software 604 the placement performance of C&P20 Heads of the X Series machine types
increases. This means for example for an X4 with four C&P20 Heads an increased placement performance
from 80,000 to 90,000 cph. But this performance increase is only working together with the new hardware
components (axis card A364, …).

2.1.3 Increased Machine Performance due to Reduced Board Clamping during Transport
In SIPLACE Pro 5.0 you can edit in the line editor the transport space from 0 – 40 mm. This means the
board is transported as soon as the transport space has entered the reached value.
For stations with station software 40x/50x the default value is 40 mm. For stations with station software 601 –
603 the default vaules are 40 mm or 20 mm.

2.1.4 01005 Placement for X Series and D Series

SIPLACE Pro 5.0 enables 01005 placement for the X series and D series. For successful 01005 placement
you have to mark the check box in the component shape editor.
For 01005 placement following hardware and software requirements are essential. In addition, for the
nozzles special segments are required for the C&P heads.

Note:
In SIPLACE Pro the component shapes 96 and 97 are pre-configurated for 01005 placement.

2.1.5 New Dip Module for X Series

The new dip module “Linear Dipping Unit X” is running on all X series stations with station software 604.
The new dip module has to be setup manually on the new changeover table and is only running on X tables
with station software 604.
Please consider following restrictions when using the dip module:
• For each placement head SIPLACE Pro allows only one dip module..
• The user has to setup the dip module manually. The optimizer does the setup of the dipped
component automatically.
• SIPLACE Pro does not check the geometry of the component in the dipping area.
• And it is not checked if the placement head can reach the dip module.
• The download provides dummy data for the dip module.

The following table shows which heads and tables are compatible to the new dip module LDU_X:
Twin head C&P 6/12 C&P20 P&P

X series(S feeder) No No No -

X-series (X feeder) Yes Yes No -

D series - No - No

2.1.6 Intelligent S Feeder with Automatic Pitch Download

In SIPLACE Pro 5.0 the user must not set the pitch of the S feeder manually at the feeder. This is done
automatically by the pitch download. You simply have to activate in Line Control GUI the option “Overwrite
Feeder Information on each Download”.
Thus for all X and S feeders the pitch is set for all components or component shapes in the component or
component shape editor. For all feeder types equipped with this special component the same pitch is valid.
Please consider following restrictions:
• Surftape feeder are not supported.
• No check of the current pitch. The pitch is only set when downloading. If the feeder is exchanged
later on the new feeder is not provided with the updated pitch from SIPLACE Pro.
• For each placement head SIPLACE Pro allows only one dip module..

13 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

• The user has to setup the dip module manually. The optimizer sets the dipped component
automatically.
• A manual pitch change at the feeder is not recognized by the station.
• All feeders that support the pitch download have a different version number. You find more detailed
information in the version description of station software 604.

2.1.7 Shutterless S Feeder (3 x 8 mm SL)

SIPLACE Pro 5.0 supports a new tape feeder – Shutterless-S Feeder 3 x 8 mm SL. The new feeder type is
similar to the 3 x 8 mm S feeder except for the two new pickup positions. These pickup positions are shifted
backwards by 4 mm in direction of the y-axis. The Shutterless Feeder is useable on all S tables.
The Shutterless-Feeder can be setup on the following machines.
Station software Machine type
604 D1, D2, D3, D4
X2, X3, X4
505 S-25HM, S-27HM, HS-50,
HS-50+, HS-60, HF, HF/3

Note:
Station software 505 and 604 support the Shutterless-Feeder. For station software 505 the
user must make sure that the station software 505.04 SP1 is installed on all PII stations..

2.1.8 Licensing Setup Center

SIPLACE Pro 5.0 checks the different licenses for Setup Center:
- Check if license for Setup Center forced verification with station software 40x and 50x.
- Check if license for Setup Center forced verificationl with station software 60x and higher.
There are 3 license keys that can be entered in SIPLACE Pro License Manager for Setup Center. The
SIPLACE Setup Center is always used.

2.1.9 Coplanarity Tolerances in Component Shape Editor

SIPLACE Pro enables the component shape editor to activate following two features of the 3D coplanarity.
Make sure that you choose before the function “Coplanarity”.
- Tolerance of coplanarity measurement: gives the maximum permissible deviation between the
calculated coplanarity level and the lead which is furthest away.
- Placement even if the measurement fails

14- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

For more details please refer to the online help.

2.1.10 3-Support of Optical Inspection Systems of SIPLACE OS Family

In SIPLACE Pro 5.0 it is possible to provide board data for the optical inspection systems during a download.
For each line a shared network directory can be configured. In that directory all board data are copied during
a download. The operator only has to import the provided board data in the optical inspection system. The
board data are available as .qd file. The file name for the provided board data in the line computer (qd file) is
formed as follows: “<board name_<conveyor lane number>.qd“
In order to have access to the network directory a user account has to be configured. Normally, this is a local
user account on the computer for the optical inspection system (domain field is empty). Alternatively, you can
also configure a domain user account for a network directory on a different computer.
For more detailed information on the configuration please refer to the online help.

2.2 General Improvements in SIPLACE Pro Desk

2.2.1 Redesign Lead Groups in Component Shape Editor

From SIPLACE Pro 5.0 on, in the component shape editor the lead groups are clearly arranged (new
functions: rename and sort).

(rename) renames the lead groups

(sort by name) sorts the lead groups by name in the list view

(sort by lead type) sorts the lead groups by type in the list view

2.2.2 New Functions in ASCII Centroid Wizard

In the ASCII Centroid Wizard (Step 3) of SIPLACE Pro 5.0 there is a new column „Transparent“. In case
there is a column available with the identification 0/1 (0 = not transparent, 1 = transparent), the user can
assign the designation „Transparent“ to this column. This makes it possible to show individual components
transparently.

15 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

2.2.3 Simple Alignment of a Graphic behind a Board in the Board Editor

In the board editor of SIPLACE Pro it is possible to align a graphic (bmp, jpg, gif) in a much simpler way
behind a board. You just have to define two pairs of points (board and graphic). For more detailed
information please refer to the online help.

16- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

2.2.4 Show and Hide Individual Panels on a Board

It is not only possible to hide and show placement positions of complete boards but also to hide and show
single panels. This setting is only locally visible in the board editor and it is not saved. The optimizer
considers all boards and does not consider if these panels are shown or hidden.

Note:
Panels from the 3rd level (main level = level 0) can not be shown or hidden..

2.3 Optimizer Features

2.3.1 Identical Nozzlee Configuration for C&P Heads for all Recipes in a Job
In SIPLACE Pro 5.0 there is a new option (Generate identical C&P head nozzle configuration for all recipes)
in the optimizer parameters. This option enables the same nozzle configuration (fixed setup) on the C&P
heads for all recipes of a job. This configuration avoids a nozzle change if several recipes have to be placed
in a job.

Note:
This function is also valid for the special segments required for 01005 placement of the D
series. The segments do not have to be changed for every recipe.

17 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

2.3.2 Avoid Redistributing Components on Placement Heads

In SIPLACE Pro 5.0 there is the new option „Do not change placement sequence“. This option can only be
activated in optimizer level 2 and in expert mode. This new option is an addition to the already existing option
“Avoid redistributing placement positions for each head”.
This new option avoids redistributing the placement positions for each head. And in this additional option the
placement sequence during optimization remains the same.
Activate this function if you have already achieved an optimal production during successful optimization but
you need to optimize again. The optimization results you have already achieved for the production time
remain the same after a new optimization.

18- 72

2.3.3 Save Optimizer SPOT Files in a Separate Default Folder

In SIPLACE Pro 5.0 the SPOT files created by the optimizer are saved in a default folder SPOT or in a
different user-specifc folder. For more details please refer to the online help and chapter 5.3.2. Creating a
SPOT file.

2.4 Features of LC GUI

2.4.1 Flexible Setup Management

In the LC GUI of SIPLACE Pro 5.0 it is possible to choose the recipes to be produced and to deliver the
necessary information which recipes are produced when and in which job or production schedule. For
activation of the flexible setup management you have to mark the checkbox “Permit selection of the recipes
to be produced next” first. After that the operator can mark the individual recipes in the LC GUI or an external
application (via SPI) can mark them. For more details please refer to the online help.

enables the next recipe to be produced from the currrent job/production schedule list.

disables the marked recipe in the current job/production schedule list.

switches over to a second job/production schedule for the same line in which recipes are also marked
for production.
This is valid for the download of production schedules or jobs (barcode mode).

19 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

2.4.2 Download of Partial Setups

SIPLACE Pro 5.0 enables a download of partial setups. First of all you have to activate the download of
partial setups via Configuration -> Download -> Partial Setup. The setups which are sent to the stations
contain only those components which are needed for the selected recipes. The recipe selection can be done
manually or refers automatically to the downloaded recipe. For more details please refer to the online help.
Restrictions:
- Asynchronous dual conveyor: If a recipe is being downloaded to a conveyor lane and the same or
another recipe has already been downloaded to the other lane in dual asynchronous mode, there
can be a conflict if the filtered partial setups differ. In order to solve this conflict you have to
download the recipes for both conveyor lanes. The option “Avoid redistributing components” avoids
that the line is completely emptied.
- The barcode mode supports the manual recipe selection only since the line control does not know
which board type is currently in the line.
- If in barcode mode the manual recipe selection is changed there can be a conflict that the filtered
partial setup changes. All active recipes have to refer in barcode mode to the same filtered partial
setup. In order to solve this conflict all active recipes have to be downloaded together. The option
“Avoid redistribution of components” avoids that the line is completely emptied.

enables and disables the download of partial setup for the marked line/recipe. These icons are only
possible during manual recipe selection.

switches over to another recipe to be produced (job or production schedule).

2.5 Support of SOKOs/special design constructions

2.5.1 Support of SOKO/special design construction for Traceability 407

SIPLACE Pro 3.2 SP1, SIPLACE Pro 4.1SP1 and SIPLACE Pro 5.0 support the SOKO for Traceability 407
and have implemented a solution to automatically transfer the data to stations with 407 station software. This
solution requires some minor changes on the station computer, which are described in this chapter.
Note
Please note that this feature has only been implemented in SIPLACE Pro 3.2 SP1, SIPLACE
Pro 4.1SP1 and SIPLACE Pro 5.0.

To activate this SOKO, the following steps are necessary in SIPLACE Pro:
1. In the station editor for each station with software version 407, activate the checkbox “Supports
Traceability SOKO 407.”
2. For each component that should be traced, open the appropriate component and activate the
checkboxes for “Validate” and then also for “Trace”.
3. Verify that each Component and associated Component Shape has a Feeder pitch for each feeder
in the list.

On the station, Traceability should already be activated with the appropriate CD. Log in as Administrator and
make the following changes:
1. Configure the share for the folder C:\SRDaten. To do this,
a. right click on the folder and choose Sharing and Security.
b. Select the radio-button “Share this folder” and note that the name “SRDaten” is automatically
entered in the field. This is correct.

2. Now click on the button “Permissions” and verify that “everyone” has “Full Control”. If this isn’t the
case, change the permissions for “Everyone”.

21 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

3. Return to the Permissions window and switch to the Security tab. Choose Advanced. In the new
window that opens make sure the checkbox “Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply
to child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here” is selected.

4. Close all windows and reboot the station.

After the station has rebooted, you can perfom a download. The Traceability data is saved in the folder
C:\SRDaten\SrcMa to a file called TraceBE.dat. This file is read automatically when you choose to configure
the Trace parameters via the station software.

4.2 SIPLACE Pro Client

The following Hardware is recommended for the SIPLACE Pro Client:
• Pentium 4 with 3.0 GHz (Minimum: Pentium III 1 GHz)
• 80 GB hard disk
• 1024 MB memory (min. 512 MB), depends on the complexity of the data content
• 21“ screen (CRT), 19“ min. with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixel at minimum (small fonts)

Note:
The XML Import/Export feature is limited to a file size of 50 MB (this corresponds
approximately to an optimized job with 7 boards with 1500 placement positions for the top
and the bottom). But this limit is already exceeded with a central memory of 512 MB. For
this reason we recommend to increase the central memory of the SIPLACE Pro Client
System to 1 GB when using XML ImportExport.

Note:
Make sure that all dialogs and editors are completely readable and displayed on the
screen by using “small fonts” (Settings –> Control Panel –> Display –> Appearance -
Advanced –> Small Fonts).

The following Software is recommended:

• Windows XP Professional with SP2 and MSDE 2000 with SP4/SQL 2005 Express

Note:
SIPLACE Pro requires Microsoft ®.NET Framework 1.1 SP1 and 2.0. If the setup
program does not find the Microsoft ®.NET Framework 2.0, the user is asked to install
the framework right from the product CD. If you decide to use the .Net Framework 1.1,
1.1 SP1 or 2.0, you should carefully test other applications on your computer for
compatibility with this version of the Framework.
Note:
A hard disk with 500 MB or more free space should be used for installation.

Note:
If the SIPLACE Pro server is also used as SIPLACE Pro client, make sure that you use a
21” monitor.

5 Limitations
In this section, we discuss system limitations. We will list all restricted features.
Note:
On Windows 2003 Server users without administration rights cannot use the bug report, as
long as they are not assigned to the local user group "Performance Counter Users".

5.1 Restrictions
• Complete LCU import of customer data may occur slowly (up to several hours), depending on the amount
of data.
• Linear 10 and 15 reserves cannot be combined on the same Linear Feeder Module.
• When using bitmaps for boards to verify component placements and rotations, limit the size of the image
file to 10 MBs for best performance; larger file sizes may significantly degrade system performance.
• When importing setup files (.rt files) from the line computer, you can not import more than one Tray per
Carrier (Level). In case you import more than one Tray per Carrier (Level), you have to create them
manually in SIPLACE Pro.
• In a multi-client scenario, when different users optimize the same job at the same time, the last Job to
finish will overwrite the other new Setups.
• The operator has to put Manual Tray Carriers (Carrier 30, Carrier 51, Carrier X) manually in the initial
setup.
• If you work with a reduced acceleration for a component shape you have a special case and the accuracy
of 5% of the simulated optimizer production time is not kept.
• The optimizer does not check if the tray size is bigger than the carrier.
• The WPC can take up to 10 different components types per level.

32- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

5.2 Known Issues/Problems (General)

5.2.1 Installation
• When configuring a SIPLACE Pro machine, do not assign SIPLACEPro as computer name (case
insensitive).

Note:
If the machine name is already "SIPLACEPro" and during upgrade the system encounters the
problem with number of users connected (when no other users are connected), then rename
the machine or stop the SQL-Sever-Agent, perform the install, and, if necessary, restart the
SQL-Sever-Agent.

To stop the SQL-Server-Agent,

1. Open the SQL Enterprise Manager.

2. In the tree control, expand Microsoft SQL Servers Æ SQL Server Group Æ Server Name
(SIPLACEPRO) ÆManagement Æ SQL-Server-Agent.
3. Right click the Agent: a context menu appears.
4. Click Stop.
5. Close the Enterprise Manager.

• To re-start the SQL-Server-Agent after installation, repeat the steps above except for step 4: Choose
Start rather than Stop.

5.2.2 Placement Machine

• If the machine’s configuration (e.g., camera was not correctly configured) does not match the
configuration that has been sent to the machine via a download, SIPLACE Pro displays a “Data
Preparation Error” message.
o Mismatch of Head Type, Nozzle Changer Type, or Vision System has to be fixed in the
programming system.

Caution:
If the user does not correct the nozzle mismatch problem at the machine (as opposed to the
programming system), but instead switches the operating mode of the machine from SIPLACE
Pro to Stand Alone, then the machine will not accept any further downloads. In this case, the
machine has to be rebooted. This issue applies mainly to the HS-50, but may appear on other
Placement Systems as well.

5.2.3 Station-wise Download

• When the line control server is rebooted, station-wise downloading will be cancelled. After rebooting, you
will need to perform a complete line download to restart production.
• Station-wise downloading supports setup changes with simultaneous recipe definition at both conveyors,
when run in asynchronous dual operation.
• Station-wise download does not support synchronous dual conveyor operation.

33 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

5.2.4 Export restrictions from SIPLACE Pro to the Line Computer

It is possible to export Restrictions from SIPLACE Pro 2.0 onwards to the Line Computer, but because of
data structure differences Line Computer and SIPLACE Pro are different. The two main differences are:

1. The Line Computer forces you to select a specific Recipe and the created restriction is based on this
Recipe only. In SIPLACE Pro, you are free to use every Restriction with any Recipe in any Job.
The Line Computer cannot identify to which Recipe the Restriction belongs to and therefore the Line
Computer doesn't know where to save the restriction.

2. On the Line Computer, within each Restriction (i.e. for each Recipe), you bind specific Components
or Component Shapes with their Feeders to or exclude them from specific Tables or Machines. It
isn't possible to assign a Component or Component Shape without its Feeder because it’s part of the
data set.
In SIPLACE Pro, you restrict three specific objects (Feeders, Components and Component
Shapes) to or from Machines or Machine Sides. Here, the feeder is missing in the restriction.
The only Restrictions that can be exported from SIPLACE Pro are the Transport side (right or left) and the
Feeder as they are assigned to specific Components or Component Shapes. In SIPLACE Pro, this is the
work-around:

1. Create a Restriction for all relevant Components and Component Shapes you wish to restrict.

2. Open each of the Components and Component Shapes and determine which feeders are assigned
as default if not already available.

3. Back in the Restriction editor, add a new line for each of the default feeders. Please assign the
Feeder (target [station], right or left transport side [conveyer lane]).
Result: You should now have one line for each Component or Component Shape and another line
for each feeder, with all of those Objects assigned.
All entries are immediately saved in the database.

Note:
Make sure that you choose for all objects (Component, Component Shape, Feeder) the same
targets and sub targets.

Note:
You could only export the right or left machine side (conveyor lane) if you have selected „All“,
„Left“ or „Right“.

4. Start the Line Computer Export (Extras -> Export).

In the first screen, choose a destination path and the Restriction file you wish to export.

5. In the rest of the Line Computer Export, choose the Components and Component Shapes you want
added to the .ri file.

Note:
Be sure to check the box marked "Update feeder information." If you don't check the box
or select these Components and Component Shapes, then their information will not be added
to the .ri file make sure that you choose for all objects (Component, Component Shape,
Feeder) the same targets and sub targets.
6. When the export is complete, the result is shown in the notification window.

34- 72

5.2.5 Miscellaneous
• From SIPLACE Pro 2.0 onwards there is no body offset (x, y) in the component shape description. With
the body offset in former versions you could move the basic body of the component shape.
Following restrictions should be considered:
o Station software ≥ 504
All databases from SIPLACE Pro 1.4.x.x are adapted to SIPLACE Pro 3.0. The body offset
is automatically considered in the pickup point.
o Station software ≤ 504
Stations with this station software do not support any pickup point. Setups with component
shapes that are described in SIPLACE Pro 1.4.x.x with a body offset have to be adapted
manually to SIPLACE Pro 3.0.
• If a user modifies a Component Package's values after assigning it to a Component, then these values
will not be updated for the Component.
Workaround: Re-assign the Component Package to the Component after modifying Component
Package values.
• In previous SIPLACE Pro versions, the optimizer generated a placement sequence without regard for the
z-axis of tower feeders, e.g. WPC and MTC. Starting with SIPLACE Pro 3.2, all tower feeders are
automatically optimized so that the travel paths in the z-direction are reduced to a minimum. This is
intended to extend the lifetime of these z-axes.
• Please note that the feature “Support of SOKO/special design construction for Traceability 407” has only
been implemented in SIPLACE Pro 3.2 SP1, SIPLACE Pro 4.1SP1 and SIPLACE Pro 5.0.

5.3 Troubleshooting

5.3.1 Error Reporting Tool

The error report enables you to send details of errors occuring in SIPLACE Pro to Siemens AG. For more
details please refer to the Appendix D and the online help.

5.3.2 Creating a SPOT file

If the optimization result shows (in very few cases) an unsolvable error, you have the possibility to create a
SPOT file. Save this file, for example, on floppy disk and/or send the file with email to the software service
(SIPLACE.hotline@siemens.com).

With SIPLACE Pro 5.0 the SPOT files that are created by the optimizer are saved in the default folder “Spot”
or in a user specific folder. For more details please refer to the online help.

The new Error Reporting Tool collects all available SPOT files. In addition to the Error Reporting Tool the
user can also create individual SPOT files of certain actions. As default a SPOT file will be created.

• In SIPLACE Pro Desk, start the Job Editor.

• Click the Configure button:

36- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

• Choose the tab Logging.

• In the Optimization Support field, check the Save optimization results in support format box:

Use the online and context-sensitive help functions to obtain a detailed explanation of the SPOT file.
Note:
Users logged on as operator (without Administrative Rights) cannot write into a folder below
"C:\Program Files" using Windows 2000/Windows Server 2003/Windows XP.
Workaround: The user can type in or copy and paste a valid path in front of the Spot file
name. The path and name will be saved to the database.

Enter the context-sensitive help via:

• Online help from the menu bar

• Help button of the respective dialog
• F1 for context-sensitive help in some window display areas

5.3.3 Troubleshooting if a system feature is not usable after installation

Note:
Please note that is necessary to have administrative user rights to install SIPLACE Pro.

In rare cases it is possible that parts of the system are only installed when a specific feature (e.g. reporting)
is used for the first time after the installation. If the SetupCD is available in the drive from where the software
has been installed, this post-installation is automatically performed.
If the SetupCD is not in the drive (what is most likely the case), invocation of that feature will fail and produce
error messages like "could not load DLL" or even more cryptic like in the screen shot.

38- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

If you experience such messages after installation, please check in the Event Log to see if the error message
is in fact caused by a failed post-installation. Please follow these steps to do this:
1. To open the Event Viewer, go to StartMenu->Run, enter "eventvwr" and click OK.
2. Select "Application Log". All logged application events will be displayed. The latest is at the top of
the list.
3. Check for entries of type "Error" from Source "MsiInstaller" at the correct time.
If you find such entries with a timestamp matching the time when you received the error, it is likely
that a post-installation has been invoked and failed due to the missing SetupCD.
If no such entries are found in the eventlog, the error message has another unknown reason.
If the above check had a positive result (point 3 above), the problem can be solved by
1. inserting the SetupCD in the drive from where you installed the software. If you installed from a
network drive, be sure that you use the same share with the same drive letter. If the installation
program starts automatically, please cancel.
2. retrying to invoke the feature which just failed. As soon as the post-installation has been performed
(with or without user feedback), the feature should start as expected. If it doesn't, the error message
has another unknown reason.

6 Notes
In this section, we provide information to enhance user productivity by ensuring

• SIPLACE Pro features are used correctly the first time and
• Users spend less time engaging in known courses of action that render inappropriate
results.

6.1 Preparation for Installation

• When upgrading from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000 with an existing SIPLACE Pro database (e.g.,
one with production data), you have to use the “Manual Setup” for the installation of the operating
system (do not use the "Unattended Setup" because it deletes all content on the hard drive prior to
installation).

Note:
Any time a new database is created, it is necessary to import the master data:
In SIPLACE Pro desk go to Tools -->Import -->XML Import Wizard... or go to Tools-->Import
--> Component Shape Library...

Note:
SIPLACE Pro requires an NTFS partition to be installed on. FAT or FAT32 file systems are not
supported. The installation of SIPLACE Pro on FAT partitions is interrupted by the setup
program.

Note:
SIPLACE Pro object names (e.g., Recipe) must not exceed 125 ASCII characters (including
folder names). If the station being downloaded to has station software 504 or lower, then the
name will be truncated to 20 ASCII characters.

40- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

6.2 Nozzles

6.2.1 9xx Nozzles on the Twin Head

9xx nozzles can only be used on the Twin Head with the aid of a nozzle adapter.
→ The nozzles must be defined as customized nozzles on the SIPLACE Pro Programming
system.
→ The following parameters must be adapted to allow the 9xx nozzles to be used optimally on
the Twin Head (Nozzle Properties – „Vacuum Settings“ field):
♦ Nozzle length (Nominal Length)
♦ Minimum difference
♦ Cubic Vacuum
♦ Non-cubic Vacuum
♦ Leaky Tolerance

→ The parameters for the corresponding 9xx nozzle are used as a template for the customer
nozzle.
Note:
It is important to ensure that the value for the parameter " non-cubic Vacuum " for the 9xx
nozzle is taken as the value for the " Cubic Vacuum " parameter of the new 5xx nozzle.

6.2.2 Meaning of the nozzle parameters and recommended values for the 9xx nozzles as
5xx nozzles on the Twin Head
• Nozzle Length (Nominal Length):
The nominal Z axis positions for pickup and placement are calculated using the specified nozzle
length.
A length value which is too high leads to a loss of placement performance while the automatic Z
height correction function of the machine compensates for the discrepancy.
Too low a value means that the Z axis makes contact at too high a speed with the component
during pickup and with the board during placement.
The nozzle length is calculated by adding the length of the nozzle adapter (without 9xx nozzle
seating) of 9.5 mm to the length of the 9xx nozzle. The total length to be entered corresponds to the
distance between the tip of the nozzle and the outer face of the adapter (without Twin Head
adapter).

Nozzle
adapter

41 - 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

• Minimum Vacuum (Min_Vak_Abstand):

This value corresponds to the minimum permitted difference in vacuum between the open nozzle
(without component) and the closed nozzle and is used to monitor wear and contamination (e.g. by
solder paste) of the nozzle. Monitoring is carried out during the overall reference run of the machine
and after a nozzle has been changed. If the minimum value is not achieved during the check, the
following error message is issued at the station: "The difference between open and closed vacuum
values is too small".
The parameter is entered as an absolute pressure value in units of 0.1 mbar.
The original value of the corresponding 9xx nozzle should be used when creating the 5xx customer
nozzle.
• Cubic Vacuum (Kub_Vak_Schwellwert):
This parameter is used on the Twin Head as the threshold for checking whether a component is on
the nozzle. If the detected value is below this threshold, a component is detected as being on the
nozzle.
The specified value is a percentage value (in units of 0.01 %) of the difference between the open
and closed vacuum value of the nozzle. The checking threshold is thus calculated as the open
vacuum value and the percentage difference value which is added to the open vacuum value.
For customer nozzles, the "Cubic Vacuum" parameter for the 9xx nozzle must be entered.
Values which are too high can lead to components not being detected on the nozzle and thus
possibly to incorrect placement (incorrect components being placed).
Values which are too low cause components to be incorrectly detected (vacuum value okay, but
no component on the nozzle).
• Non-cubic Vacuum (Nkub_Vak_Schwellwert):
This parameter is used on the Twin Head to determine the pickup threshold of a component. Once
the detected value has fallen below the pickup threshold, the pickup process is completed and the Z
axis can be positioned upward.
The pickup threshold is calculated in the same way as the "Cubic Vacuum" parameter.
For customer nozzles, it is recommended that a higher value is entered here than for the "Cubic
Vacuum" parameter. A guideline is to enter double the value of the "Cubic Vacuum" parameter.
If the value entered is too high, this may unnecessarily lengthen the pickup process, which
leads to a decrease in placement performance.
Values which are too low can negatively impact pickup reliability.
• Leaky Tolerance (Zul_Undichtigkeit):
This parameter is used on the Twin Head to define the air kiss pressure for placing components.
Once the detected value has exceeded the threshold value, the placement process is completed and
the Z axis can be positioned upward. The parameter value is calculated as a percentage value (in
units of 0.01 %) of the placement pressure entered for the component shape.
The value of the parameter depends on the degree of airtightness between the component and the
nozzle. The guideline value for the parameter is 5000 (i.e. 50%).
A value which is too low can cause components to be pulled up again and a value which is too
high can extend the placement process, thus causing a decrease in placement performance.

42- 72
Software Version Description Programming System SIPLACE Pro

6.3 Component Shape

• Object names in SIPLACE Pro (e.g. Recipe name) may not be longer than 50 ASCII characters (including
folder name). If the station software is 504 or older, these names are shortened to 20 ASCII characters.
• If Component Shapes are selected in the ASCII Centroid Import Wizard, all the existing links between
Components and Component Shapes will be overwritten with the imported information.
• New Component Shape GF 1051 for new Component 1206 Capacity heavy 3.2 x 1.6 x 1.8
The new component shape GF 1051 of the standard component shape library places thicker capacitors
without any problems. In contrast to GF 1050 the new GF 1051 uses only the bigger nozzles.
Component Shape (CS): 1051
Component: 1206 Capacity heavy 3.2 x 1.6 x 1.8 (mm)
Nozzles: 713, 733, 913, 933, 1033, 1133

6.4 Printing Reports

The generated reports can be sorted by various criteria (such as placement list etc.).
Within the printing preview the sort criteria can be modified as well.
Note:
If you have printing problems when printing reports please check your specific printer
properties (e.g. borderless printout).

6.5 Backup of System Feeder Inventory

When upgrading SIPLACE Pro (starting with SIPLACE Pro 3.0) an updated system feeder inventory is
imported (SystemFeederInventory.xml) in order to consider all new feeder types. The feeder inventory that is
already existing in SIPLACE is renamed (Backup of System Feeder Inventory_X). All existing jobs are not
changed. All new jobs contain the updated (newly imported) feeder inventory.

Supported Feeder Modules

SIPLACE Pro 5.0 supports the following Surftape feeder modules:

• 8mm ST, 12mm ST, 16mm ST, 24mm ST

Note:
Station Software 504 supports surftape feeder for the revolver heads but not for the TwinHead.
In case of fixed setups the user must know that he/she has to set up the surftape feeder on
the revolver head side.
In case of optimized setups the user should / must ensure that the surftape feeder won't be
used by the Twin Head by configuring the nozzles accordingly.
Therefore, the user must not assign Twin Head nozzles to component shapes already
assigned to a surftape feeder.
With Station Software 505 the surftape feeder will be available even for the TwinHead.

Appendix D: Data Collection Policy

SIPLACE Pro Error Reporting asks users to send error report data to Siemens. The following explains the
nature of the data, why it is collected, and what is done with it.

Why error data is collected

Error report data is used to find and fix problems in the software you use. It is not used for marketing
purposes.

What data is collected

To fix problems in the software you use, we need information about what the software was doing when it
experienced the problem, and about your machine configuration. For a description of the categories of data
we collect, see the section below called Types of Data.
When collecting information, it is possible for personal or confidential information to be present in the report.
For instance, a snapshot of memory may include your name, part of a document you were working on, or
data you recently submitted to a Web site. It is also possible for personal information to be included in a log
file, a portion of the registry, or other product specific files needed to determine the cause of the problem. If
you are concerned that the report may contain personal or confidential information, please do not send the
report.
You may be asked to answer a survey after sending an error report. Responding to the survey is optional. If
you send an error report without sending survey information, your error report remains anonymous. If you
choose to provide a phone number or email address then we may contact you to ask for additional data that
will help us solve a problem.

How data is stored

When you submit an error report, we protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket
Layer (SSL) protocol. When we receive an error report, we use a variety of security technologies and
procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For
example, we store the error reports you provide on computer servers with limited access.

Who has access to error report data

Siemens employees, contractors and vendors who have a business need to use the error report data are
provided access. If the error report indicates that a third-party product is involved, Siemens may send the
data to the vendor of that product, who may in turn send the data to sub-vendors and partners.

Types of Data
The Error Reporting service is integrated into Siemens products and is used to report a wide variety of
errors. This section presents many of the potential pieces of data that may be collected as part of the error
report, but is not an exhaustive list. The type of data and amount of data we request is dependent on the
severity of the error and relevance of the data to troubleshooting the problem.
