Grammar
Plural Words
In German, In order to make something plural; It has to be under one of three conditions below:
• If the word ends with any letter but -e, Then we add the -e suffix.

• If the word end with an -e, Then we add the -n suffix.

• If the word is an English word then we simply add -s suffix (Same as in English).

- Examples:

• die Karotten • die Paprikas

• die Tomaten • die Brokkolis
• die Kopfsalate • die Birnen
• die Zitronen
• die Ananasse
• die Zwiebeln
• die Birnen
• die Kartoffeln
• die Kirschen
• die Äpfel
• die Ananasse (pineapples)
• die Kiwis
• die Erdbeeren
• die Bananen
• die Spinate • die Trauben (grapes)

• die Gurken • die Blumenkohle

• die Orangen • die Erdbeeren

Notice that for some words such as ”Zwiebeln”, ”Ananasse” or even ”Äpfel” don’t work under the conditions that
we’ve mentioned before. You can of course memorize these words and move on but if you don’t wanna memorize them

Furthermore, I need to point out that the article of plural words is always ”die”; No matter what article it had before.

Kein/Keine
As we’ve talked about Ein/Eine in the last lesson, Today we’re gonna talk about Kein/Keine which are the negative
form of Ein/Eine.

Example:
− Ist das eine Banane? (Is that a Banana?)
−− Nein, das ist keine Banane. (No, That’s not a Banana)

− Was ist das? (What is this?)

−− Das ist ein apfel. (That’s an apple)

Verbs

• mögen: to like. - Present Simple Tense:

Ich mag esse trinke bin
• essen: to eat. Du magst isst trinkst bist
er/sie/es mag isst trinkt ist
Wir mögen essen trinken sind
• trinken: to drink.
Ihr mögt esst trinkt seid
Sie mögen essen trinken sind
• sein: to be. For more verbs/tenses 2

gern: Favorite.
nicht: Not/Don’t.
− Was isst du gern? (What do you like to eat?)
−− Ich esse gern ...(Essen) (I like to eat...(Food name))

− Was trinkst du gern? (What do you like to drink?)

−− Ich trinke gern..(Trinken) (I like to drink (Beverage name))

− Trinkst du gern Kakao? (Do you like drinking cocoa?)

−− Ja, ich trinke gern Kakao, aber trinke keine (Yes, I like to drink cocoa, but I don’t drink...(Beverage name))

− Was magst du? (What do you like?)

−− Ich mag... (I like...)

− Was magst du nicht? (What do you don’t like?)

−− Ich mag ... nicht (I don’t like...)
