Functions
Layout
It is a compact unit combining the advantages of the
space-saving heating circuit arrangement of a compact
manifold with the functionality of a hydraulic separator.
The Sinus manifold features two consecutive flow and
return chambers separated by a sinusoidal parting wall.
At the Sinus HydroFixx, two openings of the subjacent
hydraulic separator lead into the aforementioned
chambers. Since these openings are situated close
to the end caps of the junction body, the hydraulic
separators entire water content can be used as a
buffer volume for longer response times of the control
system at the hydraulic balancing.
The essentail function of hydraulic separators in
heating systems is to ensure the hydraulic decoupling
between the boiler circuit and the consumer circuit(s).
In particular, if the volume flows of the heat consumers
and heat generator(s) are of different sizes, hydraulic
separators are the ideal solution in order to eliminate
faulty hydraulic switching operations.
In vertically built-in hydraulic separators, temperature
stratification emerges due to the temperature
difference and, as a result, a difference in density. This
state continues as long as no admixing takes place.
However, the described phenomenon only occurs in
heating systems in full-load operation. Therefore, today,
temperature stratification is not placed at an increased
value. When using condensing
boilers, part of the return water is

either vertically or horizontally without impairing

the main function of hydraulic decoupling. These
facts were taken as a basis for the Sinus HydroFixx
development and in turn designing a system
component which is highly flexible to install.
To operate the Sinus HydroFixx smoothly, it is
necessary to provide a requirement-specific
dimensioning of the base bodies and a proper
positioning of the inlet and outlet openings between
the junction and manifold. As with vertical hydraulic
separators, integrated junctions are designed in a way
that laminar flow conditions prevail. Consequently,
the cross-sectional area of the junction must be a
multiple of the feed pipe cross section. Observing
these criteria during the design phase ensures both
the smooth operation of the heating unit and the
flawless functioning of the hydraulic system.

return chamber

Hydraulic separator
As a consequence, the hydraulic
separator is always flown through
in by-pass operation preventing any thermal layering.
Accordingly, it is not imperative anymore to position the
hydraulic separator vertically as the force fields there
(buoyancy and gravitation force) cannot influence the
flow force due to the deliberate admission. Based on
that knowledge, hydraulic separators can be built in

Perfect combination
HydroFixx with magnetite separation
Due to its large cross-section and the associated low
flow velocity, the HydroFixx is the ideal point for sludge
removal and magnetite separation. Only through the
consistent development of the HydroFixx models is it
now possible to combine more technology within one
component. Let your HydroFixx models take care of
reliability with the magnetite separation option. Your
heating system will reward you with a particularly long
operating life!
Dont settle for less!

Fields of Application
The Sinus HydroFixx combines many positive features
in one component. Its integrated hydraulic separator
ensures optimum hydraulic decoupling of the boiler
circuit from the consumer circuits, and the Sinus
compact manifold placed horizontally above it offers a
space-saving configuration of the heating circuits.

flow adjustment. The Sinus HydroFixx records the

system supply temperature and compares it to the
boiler supply temperature. In this way, the volumetric
flow conditions in the hydraulic separator can be
inferred, and the speed of the integrated pump is
adjusted accordingly.

Developed for building services, especially for use

in single-boiler systems, the small-scale HydroFixx
is the optimum solution for combined and spacesaving heating circuit configurations. A system with
two or more heating circuits neither needs additional
installation resources nor additional space. Return
temperature increase is prevented if the condensing
unit has a junction control with primary-side volumetric

These advantages apply in particular to the largescale HydroFixx designs. Assembly time savings,
hydraulic decoupling, and minimised space
requirement have a particularly positive impact on
construction costs and plant efficiency. There are
several good reasons for combining the manifold
and the hydraulic separator.
