Datei herunterladen.

Ausgangspunkte
How do you write fugues with strettos? How do you find topics that are suitable for
strettos? How do you find technically correct strettos for a given topic? These
questions were at the beginning of my reflections on melody and canon. Of course you
can try it out. This is quite complex, unfortunately only sometimes leads to the goal
and ultimately remains unsatisfactory. But there is a connection between the melodic
structure of a theme and the way it can be imitated. For canons and strettos this
means: not every topic is suitable for a canon or for a stretto. Rather, a theme must
have a specific melodic structure so that it can be narrowed down.
The attempt to solve the problems systematically and to express the relationships in a
lawful form showed that there are rule systems for certain types of constriction and that
there are algorithms with which these rule systems can be constructed. These algorithms
can be implemented as computer programs. After a program had determined some
systems of rules, topics could be written that were designed directly for strettos.
The question of whether given topics could be narrowed down was also solved
systematically. In the beginning there was a methodical idea for teaching analysis. To
my surprise, it could be expanded into a procedure that was generally applicable.
That's how I came up with the auxiliary sound method. Over time I found many
extensions and was able to apply it to many more typesetting tasks than I ever
imagined.
When examining references, there were often connections between a topic and its
narrowing, which corresponded to the rule systems or combinations that I had found
with the new methods. I would hardly have discovered them with traditional analysis
methods. Such connections will be discussed below.

An erster

Felix Stephan
machte mich auf einen grammatikalischen Irrtum aufmerksam. Dina Pohl hat für mich
im russischen Internet recherchiert.
