Servicehinweise
Cassettenteil berprfen Sie vor Beginn der Service-Arbeiten, ob die Magnetkpfe, die Tonwelle und die Gummiandruckrolle frei von Bandabrieb sind. Zum Reinigen dieser Teile verwenden Sie ein mit Spiritus oder Reinigungsbenzin getrnktes Wattestbchen; dadurch verbessert sich der Aufnahme- und Wiedergabepegel, sowie der Bandlauf. CD-Teil Bei Ausbau der CD-Lasereinheit mu vor Abziehen der Steckverbindungen eine Schutzltstelle auf der Leiterplatte der Lasereinheit angebracht werden, um eine Zerstrung der Laserdiode durch statische Aufladung zu vermeiden. Beim Einbau einer neuen Lasereinheit (CD-Laufwerk) mu nach Einstecken der Steckverbinder die werkseitig angebrachte Schutzltstelle entfernt werden!

Cassette Section Before commencing service work, ensure that the magnetic heads, the capstan and the pinch roller are free from particles produced by tape abrasion. The recording and playback levels and the tape run can be improved by cleaning these parts with a cotton-wool tip soaked in spirit or cleaning benzine. CD Section When removing the Laser pick-up, the Laser pick-up PCB must be provided with a protective soldered joint before unplugging the connectors to avoid damage to the Laser diode by static charges. When inserting the new Laser pick-up (CD drive mechanism) the soldered joint fitted at the factory must be removed after the connectors are plugged in.

BEDIENUNG ALLGEMEIN
Ein- und Ausschalten Einstellen der Uhrzeit
Die Uhr kann in jeder Betriebsart eingestellt werden. Haben Sie TUNER oder CD gewhlt und wird die Zeit nicht angezeigt, auf der Fernbedienung DISPLAY drcken, bis die Zeit erscheint. Die Taste PROGRAM/TIME am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Die Stunden beginnen zu blinken. Die Stunden mit UP/ / /DOWN einstellen. Die Taste PROGRAM/TIME erneut drcken. Die Minuten beginnen zu blinken. Die Minuten mit UP/ / /DOWN einstellen. Die Taste PROGRAM/TIME erneut drcken, um die Einstellung zu speichern.
TUNER
Auswahl vom TUNER
Schalten Sie das Gert mit der Taste ON/OFF ein. Die Taste TUNER am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Die Anzeige TUNER 6 leuchtet auf.
Speichern von Stationen

Sie knnen bis zu 40 Stationen speichern. (20 x FM and 20 x AM). Den Wellenbereich mit der BAND-Taste whlen. Suchen Sie einen Sender durch Drcken der Taste UP///DOWN (am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung). Drcken Sie die Taste PROGRAM/TIME am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung. Die Anzeige 'MEMORY' fngt an zu blinken. Solange 'MEMORY' blinkt, whlen Sie den Kanal, dem Sie eine Station zuordnen mchten mit REPEAT/SCAN oder direkt mit den Tasten 1-0 / +10 auf der Fernbedienung. Drcken Sie die Taste PROGRAM/TIME, um die Station zu speichern. Die Anzeige 'MEMORY' erlischt. Im Display erscheint nun der senderbelegte Kanal, die Frequenz und der Wellenbereich. Wenn Sie eine Station einem Kanal zuordnen, der bereits mit einer Station belegt war, wird die alte gelscht und durch die neue ausgetauscht.
Zum Einschalten Taste ON/OFF drcken. Die Bereitschaftsanzeige Stand by 6 erlischt. Zum Ausschalten drcken Sie die Taste ON/OFF erneut. Das Gert ist, auch wenn es ausgeschaltet ist, stndig mit dem Netz verbunden. Die Bereitschaftsanzeige Stand by 6 leuchtet, sobald das Gert mit dem Netz verbunden ist. Wollen Sie das Gert ganz vom Netz trennen, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker. Hinweise: Bei Netzbetrieb knnen Sie auch die Taste ON/OFF an der Fernbedienung benutzen, um das Gert einund auszuschalten. Bei Batteriebetrieb knnen Sie das Gert nur ber die Taste ON/OFF am Gert einschalten. Diese Vorkehrung wurde getroffen, um das Batterieleben zu verlngern. Sie knnen das Gert jedoch ber die Fernbedienung ausschalten. Bei Batteriebetrieb ist die Bereitschaftsanzeige Stand by 6 stets aus und das Display nicht beleuchtet.
Radioantennen
Bei UKW-Empfang die Teleskopantenne herausziehen und durch Neigen und Drehen ausrichten. Bei zu starkem UKW-Signal (in Sendernhe) empfiehlt es sich die Antenne einzuschieben. Fr AM-Empfang hat das Gert eine eingebaute Antenne. Die Teleskopantenne kann also eingeschoben bleiben. Zum Ausrichten der Antenne das ganze Gert drehen.

Rundfunkempfang
Den Ton mit den Reglern VOLUME und UBS einstellen. Den Wellenbereich mit der BAND-Taste am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung whlen. Starten Sie den automatischen Sendersuchlauf, indem Sie die Tasten UP/ bzw. /DOWN (am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung) ein oder zwei Sekunden gedrckt halten und dann loslassen. Der Tuner sucht automatisch den ersten Sender mit ausreichender Signalstrke. Wiederholen Sie diese Schritte fr weitere Sender. Um schwache Sender abzustimmen, drcken Sie kurz auf die Taste UP/ bzw. /DOWN bis die richtige Frequenz angezeigt wird oder die Empfangsqualitt optimal ist. Wenn die Angabe 'ST' erscheint, empfangen Sie einen UKW-Stereo-Sender. Treten bei UKW-Stereo-Empfang aufgrund einer nicht ausreichenden Signalstrke Strungen auf, knnen diese unterdrckt werden, indem FM MONO/STEREO auf FM MONO geschaltet wird. Die 'ST'-Anzeige erlischt und der UKW-Sender wird in Mono wiedergegeben.

Stationswahl
Den Wellenbereich mit der BAND-Taste whlen. Whlen Sie den gewnschten Speicherplatz mit der Taste REPEAT/SCAN oder direkt mit den Tasten 1-0 / +10 auf der Fernbedienung. Die Speicherplatznummer, die Frequenz und der Wellenbereich werden angezeigt.
Wahl der Programmquellen

Die Taste fr die gewnschte Programmquelle drcken (CD, TUNER oder TAPE) am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung. Die Lampe der gewhlten Programmquelle (CD 6, TUNER 6 oder TAPE 6) leuchtet.

LAST STATION MEMORY bedeutet, das Gert merkt sich die jeweils zuletzt eingestellte Station. Mit dieser Funktion lt sich sicherstellen, da der Sender der vor dem Ausschalten eingestellt war nach dem Einschalten wieder zu hren ist.
CD-SPIELER
Umgang mit CDs
Nur digitale Audio-CDs verwenden. ( ). Um die CD aus der Box herauszunehmen, beim Anheben der CD gegen die Mittenachse drcken. Die CD niemals beschriften oder mit einem Aufkleber versehen. Fassen Sie die CD immer am Rande an und legen Sie sie immer in die Verpackung zurck. Zum Reinigen die CD anhauchen und mit einem weichen, nichtfasernden Tuch geradlinig von der Mitte aus in Richtung des Randes abwischen. Reinigungsmittel knnen die CD beschdigen! Schtzen Sie die CDs vor Regen und Feuchtigkeit, vor Sand und vor Hitze z.B. von Heizgerten oder im Innenraum von in der Sonne geparkten Autos.

Einlegen einer CD
Zum ffnen des Deckels auf OPEN drcken. Die CD mit der bedruckten Seite nach oben einlegen. Neben den herkmmlichen 12 cm CDs, knnen auch 8 cm CDs ohne Adapter verwendet werden. Den Deckel schlieen. Der CD-Spieler startet und tastet die Inhaltsangabe der CD ab. Danach erscheint im Display die Gesamtspielzeit und die Titelanzahl der CD.
SKIP UP / DOWN
Wahl eines anderen Titels whrend der Wiedergabe Taste UP/ oder /DOWN am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken, bis die Nummer des gewnschten Titels im Display erscheint. Der ausgewhlte Titel wird sofort wiedergegeben. Sie knnen auch die Titelnummer mit den Zifferntasten 1-0 / +10 auf der Fernbedienung direkt eingeben. Beginnen mit einem bestimmten Titel Taste UP/ oder /DOWN drcken, bis die Nummer des gewnschten Titels im Display erscheint. Taste PLAY/PAUSE 2; drcken. Die Wiedergabe beginnt beim ausgewhltem Titel. Sie knnen auch die Titelnummer mit den Zifferntasten 1-0 / +10 auf der Fernbedienung direkt eingeben.

Intro
In Stellung STOP, die Taste INTRO auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Die Anzeige 'INTRO' erscheint im Display. Die ersten 10 Sekunden jedes Titels der CD werden angespielt; der CD-Spieler beendet die Wiedergabe nach dem letzten Titel. Die Funktion wird beendet, wenn Sie die Taste STOP 9 oder INTRO drcken; in diesem Fall werden die nachfolgenden Stcke normal wiedergegeben. Die Funktion 'INTRO' ist nicht mglich, solange Sie ein Programm abspielen.

Abspielen einer CD
Zum Starten des Abspielens auf PLAY/PAUSE 2; drcken. Das Display zeigt die aktuelle Titelnummer und die abgelaufene Spielzeit des Titels an. Den Ton mit den Reglern VOLUME und UBS einstellen. Fr kurzzeitige Unterbrechungen auf PLAY/PAUSE 2; drcken. Die Zeitanzeige beginnt im Display zu blinken. Zum Fortsetzen der Wiedergabe die Taste PLAY/PAUSE 2; erneut drcken. Zum Stoppen auf STOP 9 drcken. Danach erscheint im Display die Gesamtspielzeit und die Titelanzahl der CD. Der CD-Spieler geht ebenfalls in Stellung STOP: wenn Sie auf OPEN drcken; wenn das Ende der CD erreicht ist; wenn die Batterien ausgehen oder bei anderen Stromunterbrechungen. Zum Herausnehmen der CD ffnen Sie den Deckel durch Drcken der OPEN-Taste. Den CD-Deckel erst ffnen wenn sich der CD-Spieler in Stellung STOP befindet.
Repeat
Wiederholung der CD Durch einmaliges Drcken von REPEAT/SCAN werden alle Musiktitel wiederholt. 'REPEAT' leuchtet auf; die CD wird jetzt stndig wiederholt. Wiederholung eines Titels Durch nochmaliges Drcken von REPEAT/SCAN wird ein Musiktitel wiederholt. 'REPEAT' fngt an zu blinken; der Titel wird jetzt stndig wiederholt. Um den REPEAT-Modus auszuschalten, drcken Sie die Taste REPEAT/SCAN erneut oder STOP 9. Whrend der Wiedergabe eines Programms kann nur die gesamte Reihenfolge, nicht jedoch einzelne Titel wiederholt werden.
Warnung
CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT bedeutet, da der Laser wegen seines technischen Aufbaus eigensicher ist, so da der maximal erlaubte Ausstrahlwert unter keinen Umstnden berschritten werden kann. VORSICHT: Wenn andere als die hier spezifizierten Bedienungseinrichtungen benutzt oder andere Verfahrensweisen ausgefhrt werden, kann es zu gefhrlicher Strahlungsexposition kommen.

Schalten Sie das Gert mit der Taste ON/OFF ein. Die Taste CD am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Die Anzeige CD 6 leuchtet auf. Selektieren Sie CD, solange keine CD eingelegt wurde oder diese nicht korrekt eingelegt wurde, zeigt das Display zunchst TRACK 00 00:00, anschlieend no d1SC.
Rasches Suchen einer Passage whrend der Wiedergabe Halten Sie UP/ oder /DOWN gedrckt, um eine bestimmte Stelle auf der CD in Vorwrts- oder Rckwrtsrichtung zu suchen. Die Wiedergabe wird whrend der Suche leise fortgesetzt. Lassen Sie die Taste los, wenn die gewnschte Stelle erreicht ist.

Drcken Sie die Taste DISPLAY auf der Fernbedienung whrend der Wiedergabe, erscheint die Anzeige der verbleibenden Gesamtspieldauer der CD Nach erneutem Drcken dieser Taste erscheint die aktuelle Uhrzeit. Nochmaliges Drcken zeigt die aktuelle Titelnummer und die abgelaufene Spielzeit des Titels an.

Taste RANDOM auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Die Anzeige 'RANDOM' erscheint im Display. Drcken Sie PLAY/PAUSE 2;. Die Musiktitel werden in zuflliger Reihenfolge abgespielt, bis jeder Titel einmal gespielt wurde. Drcken Sie die Taste RANDOM whrend der Wiedergabe, wird das Abspielen in zuflliger Reihenfolge ab Ende des aktuellen Titels gestartet. Die Funktion wird beendet, wenn Sie die Taste STOP 9 oder RANDOM drcken; in diesem Fall werden die nachfolgenden Stcke in gewohnter Reihenfolge wiedergegeben. Die Funktion 'RANDOM' ist nicht mglich, solange Sie ein Programm abspielen.

Ersetzen von gespeicherten Titeln Drcken Sie mehrmals PROGRAM/TIME, bis der Titel, den Sie ersetzen wollen, im Display erscheint. Whlen Sie den Titel aus, der an dieser Stellen gespeichert werden soll. Speichern Sie diese Nummer durch Drcken der PROGRAM/TIME -Taste. Titel dem Programm hinzufgen Drcken Sie mehrmals PROGRAM/TIME bis im Display der erste freie Speicherplatz erscheint. Nun knnen Sie zu der aktuellen Reihenfolge, wie oben beschrieben, weitere Titel speichern.
Compact-Cassetten
Verwenden Sie fr die Aufnahme nur NORMALCassetten (IEC I), bei denen die Laschen nicht herausgebrochen sind. Das Gert ist nicht geeignet zum Aufnehmen auf CHROM (IEC II) oder METALL (IEC IV) Cassetten. Fr die Wiedergabe knnen Sie jedoch jeden Cassettentyp einsetzen. Direkt am Anfang des Bandes erfolgt whrend der ersten 7 Sekunden, wenn der transparente Bandanfang vorbeiluft, keine Aufnahme. Jetzt lt sich diese Seite nicht mehr bespielen. Zum Aufheben dieser Lschsperre decken Sie die ffnung mit einem Stck Klebeband ab. Bevor Sie eine Cassette einlegen, sollten Sie mit einem Bleistift oder hnlichem Gegenstand Bandschlaufen in der Cassette beseitigen. Diese knnten einen Bandri zur Folge haben, oder das Band knnte sich im Bandlaufmechanismus verklemmen. C-120-Band ist extrem dnn and kann daher leicht verformt oder beschdigt werden. Es wird fr dieses Gert nicht empfohlen. Schtzen Sie die Cassetten vor Regen und Feuchtigkeit, vor Sand und vor Hitze, z.B. von Heizgerten oder im Innenraum von in der Sonne geparkten Autos. Abspielen des Programms

Drcken Sie einmal PROGRAM/TIME, um den ersten Titel des Programms anzeigen zu lassen. Taste PLAY/PAUSE 2; drcken. Das Abspielen beginnt mit dem ersten Programmtitel. Nach dem letzten Titel wird das Abspielen gestoppt. Danach erscheint im Display die Gesamtspielzeit und die Titelanzahl der CD. Hinweise: Sie knnen das Abspielen durch Drcken der Taste STOP 9 beenden. Whrend des Abspielens eines Programms knnen mit den Tasten UP/ oder /DOWN die gewnschten programmierten Titel angewhlt werden. Die Tasten 1-0 / +10 knnen nicht genutzt werden.
Speichern eines Programms

Sie knnen maximal 20 Titel in jeder beliebigen Reihenfolge speichern, wobei jedes Stck mehrmals programmiert werden kann. Beim Versuch mehr als 20 Titel zu speichern, wird die Programmierfunktion von Anfang an wiederholt. In Stellung STOP, die Taste PROGRAM/TIME am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Im Display erscheint 00 P-01 und 'MEMORY' und 'TRACK' blinken. Solange 'MEMORY' blinkt, whlen Sie den gewnschten Titel mit den Tasten UP/ oder /DOWN (oder 1-0 / +10 auf der Fernbedienung). Lschen eines Programms

Um alle programmierten Titel zu lschen, drcken Sie die Taste PROGRAM/TIME und danach STOP 9. Das Lschen von allen Titeln ist nur mglich, wenn der CD-Spieler auf STOP geschaltet ist. Der Inhalt des Programms wird auch gelscht: durch ffnen des CD-Fachs mit OPEN; wenn die Batterien ausgehen oder bei anderen Stromunterbrechungen.

In Stellung STOP, die Taste PROGRAM/TIME wiederholt drcken. Das Display zeigt nacheinander alle gespeicherten Stcknummern in Reihenfolge. 'MEMORY' und 'TRACK' blinken.

Die Anzeige REC 6 leuchtet auf. Wenn das Bandende erreicht ist, werden die Recordertasten freigegeben. Zum Unterbrechen der Aufnahme die Taste ; PAUSE drcken. Zum Fortsetzen der Aufnahme die Taste ; PAUSE erneut drcken. Die Taste 9// STOP/EJECT drcken, wenn die Aufnahme vor dem Bandende gestoppt werden soll. Die Anzeige REC 6 erlischt. Durch erneutes Drcken der Taste 9// STOP/EJECT ffnet sich das Cassettenfach. CD Synchro Aufnahme vom CD-Spieler Die Taste CD am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Sie brauchen den CD-Spieler nicht separat zu starten: sobald Sie auf 0 RECORD drcken, startet der CD-Spieler automatisch. Steht der CD-Spieler in Stellung STOP, startet die Aufnahme vom Anfang der CD (oder vom Anfang des gespeicherten Programms). Um eine Aufnahme in der Mitte eines Stcks zu starten, beginnen Sie die CD-Wiedergabe wie gewohnt. Sobald die gewnschte Passage erreicht ist, drcken Sie auf Pause und anschlieend auf 0 RECORD, um die Aufnahme zu starten. Aufnahme vom Radio Die Taste TUNER am Gert oder auf der Fernbedienung drcken. Den Wellenbereich mit der BAND-Taste whlen. Whlen Sie die gewnschte Station mit den Tasten UP///DOWN oder REPEAT/SCAN bzw. 1-0 / +10. Bei Aufnahmen von UKW-Sendern den Schalter FM MONO/STEREO auf die gewnschte Position stellen. Wenn whrend der Aufnahme eines AMSenders Pfeifgerusche zu hren sind, knnen diese unterdrckt werden, indem der Schalter BEAT CUT auf die andere Position gestellt wird.

Das Batteriefach (unten am Gert) ffnen und 8 Monozellen, Typ R14, UM2 oder C, einsetzen. Entfernen Sie die Batterien, wenn sie verbraucht sind oder lngere Zeit nicht benutzt werden. Die Batterien werden bei Netzbetrieb abgeschaltet. Zum Umschalten auf Batterien den Stecker aus der Netzbuchse AC INPUT herausziehen. Sttzbatterien fr Speicher Um gespeicherte Einstellungen whrend der Zeit, die das Gert ausgestellt ist, beizubehalten, mssen zwei zustzliche Sttzbatterien eingelegt werden. Legen Sie diese Alkalin-Batterien der Gre LR 06, AA, in das Batteriefach ein. Diese Batterien sollten immer eingelegt sein, unabhngig von der Stromversorgung (ob Netz- oder Batteriebetrieb).

Operating Instructions
This chapter contains excerpts from the operating instructions. For further particulars please refer to the appropriate user instructions the part number of which is indicated in the relevant spare parts list.
GENERAL OPERATION
Switching on and off Setting the clock
The clock can be set while the unit is in any mode of operation. If you are in TUNER or CD mode and the time is not being displayed, press DISPLAY on the remote control until the time is shown. Press PROGRAM/TIME on the unit or on the remote control. The hour starts flashing. Set the hour with UP/ / /DOWN. Press PROGRAM/TIME once more. The minutes start flashing. Set the minutes with UP/ / /DOWN. Press PROGRAM/TIME again to store the setting.

Selecting TUNER
Press the ON/OFF button to switch the unit on. Press the TUNER button on the unit or on the remote control. The TUNER indicator 6 lights up.
Storing stations
You can store a maximum of 40 stations (20 x FM and 20 x AM). Select the waveband using the BAND button. Select the desired station with the UP///DOWN buttons on the unit or on the remote control. Press the PROGRAM/TIME button on the unit or on the remote control. 'MEMORY' starts flashing on the display. While 'MEMORY' is flashing, select the channel you wish to assign to this station by repeatedly pressing the REPEAT/SCAN button or directly with the 1-0 / +10 buttons on the remote control. Press PROGRAM/TIME to store this station. 'MEMORY' disappears from the display. The display now indicates the station's assigned channel, its frequency and waveband. If you assign a station to a channel that had been previously assigned to a different station, the old station is deleted and replaced by the new one.

Press the ON/OFF button to switch the unit on. The Stand by indicator 6 goes out. To switch the unit to stand by press the ON/OFF button again. Even if you switch your unit off, it remains connected to the mains power supply. The Stand by indicator 6 is always on when the unit is connected to the mains power supply. If you want to completely disconnect the unit from the power supply, remove the plug from the mains socket. Notes: When using mains supply, you can also use the ON/OFF button on the remote control to switch the unit on and off. When using battery supply, you can only switch the unit on via the ON/OFF button on the set. This is done to save battery life. However, you can switch the unit to stand by via the remote control. When using battery supply, the Stand by indicator 6 is always off and the display is not illuminated.
Radio aerials
For FM, pull out the telescopic aerial. To improve FMreception, incline and turn the aerial. Reduce its length if the FM-signal is too strong (very close to a transmitter). For AM, the set is provided with a built-in aerial, so the telescopic aerial is not needed. Direct the aerial by turning the whole set.

Radio reception
Adjust the sound with the VOLUME and UBS controls. Select the waveband using the BAND button on the unit or on the remote control. Start the automatic station search by holding the UP/ or /DOWN button (on the unit or on the remote control) down for one or two seconds, and then releasing it. The tuner automatically searches for the first station with sufficient signal strength. Repeat this step to search for other stations. To tune to a weak station, briefly press the UP/ or /DOWN buttons several times until the correct frequency is displayed, or until reception is best. When 'ST' appears on the display, you are receiving an FM stereo transmitter. A disturbing noise, due to a weak FM stereo signal, can be suppressed by setting FM MONO/STEREO to FM MONO. The 'ST' indication goes out and you will hear the FM station in mono.

Calling up a stored station

Select the waveband using the BAND button. Select the desired memory channel by repeatedly pressing the REPEAT/SCAN button or directly with the 1-0 / +10 buttons on the remote control. The display indicates the selected channel, the station frequency and waveband.
Source selection
Select the desired source by pressing the respective button (CD, TUNER or TAPE) on the unit or on the remote control. The indicator of the selected source (CD 6, TUNER 6 or TAPE 6) lights up.

LAST STATION MEMORY means that the unit 'remembers' the last station that was tuned to. This function ensures that the station which was selected before the tuner was switched off is automatically selected again when your tuner is switched back on.

CD handling
Use only CDs which have the symbol . To take the CD out of its box easily, press the centre spindle while lifting the CD. Never write on a CD or attach any sticker to the CD. Always hold the CD at the edge and always store it in its box after use with the label facing up. To remove dust and dirt, breathe on the CD and wipe it with a soft, lint-free cloth in a straight line from the center towards the edge. Cleaning agents may damage the CD. Do not expose the CD to rain, moisture, sand, or to excessive heat. (E.g. from heating equipment or in motor cars parked in the sun).

Inserting a CD
Press OPEN to open the CD door. Insert the CD, printed side facing up. In addition to standard 12 cm CDs, you can also play 8 cm CD singles without an adaptor. Close the cover. The CD player scans the contents list of the CD. After that, the total number of tracks and the total playing time appear on the display.

Selecting another track during play Press UP/ or /DOWN on the unit or on the remote control.until the required track number appears in the display. The selected track begins to play. You can also select the desired track number directly with the 1-0 / +10 buttons on the remote control. Searching for a passage during playback Hold down the UP/ or /DOWN button during playback to find a particular passage in forward or backward direction. CD play continues at a low volume. Release the button when you have reached the desired passage.

In STOP mode, press the INTRO button on the remote control. 'INTRO' lights up on the display. Only the first 10 seconds of each title are played; after the last title, the CD player stops. The function is deactivated by pressing STOP 9 (in which case the CD stops) or INTRO; in this case the remaining tracks are played back in the normal way. The intro function is not possible during playback of a programme.

Repeating the CD By pressing REPEAT/SCAN once, all tracks are repeated. 'REPEAT' lights up; the CD will now be repeated continuously. Repeating a track By pressing REPEAT/SCAN twice, one track is repeated. 'REPEAT' starts flashing; the track will now be repeated continuously. To switch the repeat mode off, press REPEAT/SCAN one more time, or press STOP 9. During playback of a programme, it is only possible to repeat the whole programme, and not individual programmed tracks.
Playing a CD
Press PLAY/PAUSE 2; to start playback. The display shows the current track number and its elapsed playing time. Adjust the sound with the VOLUME and UBS controls. For brief interruptions, press PLAY/PAUSE 2;. The playing time indication starts flashing. To resume playback, press PLAY/PAUSE 2; again. To stop playback, press STOP 9. The total playing time and number of tracks will then appear on the display. The CD player also goes to position STOP: by pressing OPEN; when the end of the CD is reached; if the batteries run down or if the power supply is interrupted. To take out the CD, open the CD door by pressing OPEN. Open the CD door only if the CD player is in position STOP.

When you select CD when no disc is inserted or when the disc is not inserted correctly, the display will first show TRACK 00 00:00 and afterwards the indication no d1SC.
Display modes
During playback, press DISPLAY on the remote control and the display shows you the CDs remaining playing time. Press this button again to display the actual clock time. If you press this button once more, the display goes back to showing the current track number and its elapsed playing time.

Press the RANDOM button on the remote control. 'RANDOM' lights up on the display. Press PLAY/PAUSE 2;. The tracks are played in random order until all of them have been played once. By pressing RANDOM during playback, random play starts from the end of the playing track. The function is deactivated by pressing STOP 9 (in which case the CD stops) or RANDOM; in this case the remaining tracks are played in their normal order. The random function is not possible during playback of a programme.

Changing the programme
Replacing previously programmed tracks Press PROGRAM/TIME repeatedly until the display shows the track you wish to replace. Select the track you want to enter in its place. Store this track by pressing PROGRAM/TIME. Adding tracks to the programme Press PROGRAM/TIME repeatedly until the display shows the first empty memory location. You can now add tracks to the sequence as described above.
Compact cassettes
For recording, use a NORMAL (IEC type I) cassette on which the tabs are not broken out. This deck is not suited for recording on CHROME (IEC II) or METAL (IEC IV) cassettes. For playback, any cassette type may be inserted. At the very beginning and end of the tape, no recording will take place during the few seconds when the leader tape passes the recorder heads. To prevent the accidental erasure of a recording, keep the cassette side to be safeguarded in front of you and break out the left tab. Now, recording on this side is no longer possible. To render this safeguard ineffective, cover the hole with a piece of adhesive tape. Before use, check and tighten slack tape with a pencil to avoid jamming the deck mechanism or snapping the tape. The tape of a C-120 cassette is extremely thin and can be easily damaged. C-120 cassettes are not recommended for this unit. Do not expose the cassettes to rain, moisture, sand, or to excessive heat. (E.g. from heating equipment or in motor cars parked in the sun). Do not store cassettes near strong magnetic fields (for example, TV sets, speakers, engines, etc.). Copyright: Recording is permissible insofar as copyright or other rights of third parties are not infringed.

Cassette playback

For brief interruptions, press ; PAUSE. To restart playback, press this button once more. When the end of the tape is reached the B PLAY button is released. To stop, press 9// STOP/EJECT. On pressing again, the cassette holder will open.

Playing a programme

In STOP mode, press PROGRAM/TIME repeatedly. The display shows in sequence all programmed track numbers and 'MEMORY' and 'TRACK' start flashing.
To clear the programme, press the PROGRAM/TIME button and afterwards STOP 9. You can only erase the programme when the player is stopped. The programme is also erased: by opening the CD door using OPEN; if the batteries are exhausted or if the power supply is interrupted in another way.

When monitoring during recording, adjust the Recording from the CD player (CD synchro recording) Press the CD button on the unit or on the remote control. Its not necessary to start the CD player separately: by pressing 0 RECORD the CD player starts automatically. If the CD player is in STOP position, recording will start from the beginning of the CD (or from the beginning of the programmed selection). To start a recording in the middle of a track, play the CD in the normal way. As soon as the desired passage is reached, pause the CD and then start recording by pressing 0 RECORD. Recording from the radio Press the TUNER button on the unit or on the remote control. Select the desired waveband and station (see TUNER). In case of FM radio recordings, set the FM MONO/STEREO switch to the desired position. If during the recording of an AM station, a whistling sound is heard, this sound can be suppressed by setting the BEAT CUT switch to another position.

Battery Supply
Open the battery compartment (on the bottom of the set) and insert as shown 8 batteries, type R14, UM2 or C-cells. Remove the batteries if exhausted or if they will not be used again for a long period. The battery supply is switched off when the set is connected to the mains. To change over to battery supply, pull out the plug from the AC INPUT socket. Back-up batteries for preset memory In order to keep the presets stored in the memory during the time that the unit is switched off, it is necessary to insert two additional batteries. Place these batteries size LR06, AA, alkaline type in the battery compartment. These batteries should always be inserted, regardless of the power supply (mains voltage or batteries).

Extra buttons: DISPLAY to display the clock and change the display mode RANDOM to play the titles of a CD in random order INTRO to play only the first 10 seconds of each title MUTE for muting the speakers 1-0 to select CD tracks and radio channels directly +10 to select numbers above nine, press this button and then one of the 1-0 buttons to make the number you want (e.g., to select 12, press +10 and then 2).

Mains supply
Check if the mains voltage as shown on the type plate (at the rear of the set) corresponds to your local mains voltage. If it does not, consult your dealer or service organisation. Connect the mains lead to the AC INPUT socket and the wall socket. The mains supply is switched on. When you insert the power supply cable plug into the mains socket, the unit automatically switches to stand by. The Stand by indicator 6 lights up. To disconnect the set from the mains completely, withdraw the mains plug from the wall socket.

Note: When using battery supply, the ON/OFF button can only be used to switch the unit to stand by. To switch the unit on when using battery supply, use the ON/OFF button on the set (see 'Switching on and off').
Changing batteries If the range of your infrared remote control seems to decrease, or if certain functions can no longer be carried out, you should replace the batteries. Two mignon 1.5 Volt LR03, size AAA batteries are required. To change the batteries, open the compartment on the back of the remote control. Ensure that the batteries are inserted properly (note the markings in the compartment).

Ausbauhinweise
Alle Schrauben, die in Kunststoff eingedreht werden, sollten zuerst soweit gegen den Uhrzeigersinn gedreht werden, bis Sie merken, die Schraube hat den Gewindeanfang gefunden. Disassembly Instructions
All the screws which are screwed into plastic parts should be turned counter clockwise first until you notice that the screw has found the first thread. Then tighten the screw. This preventive measure ensures that no new threads are cut into the plastic material thus deteriorating the good fit of the screw. If screws secured with lacquer have to be loosened, they must be resecured in the same manner when the repair is completed.

5. Laser Pick-up When removing the laser pick-up, the laser pick-up PCB (Fig. 8) must be provided with a protective soldered joint before unplugging the connectors to avoid damage to the laser diode by static charges. When inserting the new laser pick-up (CD drive mechanism) the soldered joint fitted at the factory must be removed after the connectors are plugged in! - Remove the CD chassis (see para 4). - Undo 3 screws I (Fig. 6). - Bend the 2 clamps J open (Fig. 6) and remove the cover plate K. - Pull out the gear L. - Loosen the 4 screws M and move the guide rails N in the direction of arrow O (Fig. 7). - Remove the laser pick-up.
