The Yes/ No – Questions are also called the decision question. If there is no question word in the
question, the answer is usually "yes" or "no". These two answers are possible if the question is
"positive" and the question does not contain the words "kein~none" or "nicht ~not".

The conjugation of German verbs is relatively easy. Almost all verbs have the ending -en (kaufen ~to
buy, lieben ~to love, malen ~to paint, ...).
If the verb is in its basic form (ending = -en), one speaks of the infinitive. Dictionaries always indicate
verbs with the infinitive.
If the verb is used in a sentence, it must be conjugated. Almost all verbs end with the same
conjugate ending. The only exceptions are the modal verbs (1st + 3rd person singular) and the
irregular verbs.

The irregular verbs, also called "strong verbs", represent only a small group in terms of numbers.
Of the approximately 200 strong verbs, however, many belong to the basic vocabulary.
The strong verbs are characterised by the fact that vowels from the verb stem are swapped during
conjugation.
In the present tense only the 2nd and 3rd person singular change. The plural is conjugated like the
regular verbs.
