Imagine that you are hard of hearing and did not completely understand the following
statements. Ask a question about the italicized element. Remember that things use a wo-compound, but people
need a preposition + pronoun.
B. Antworten. When answering questions, it’s normal not to repeat all of the information in the original
question, but instead to substitute with pronouns or compounds. Write a complete sentence to answer the
following questions with a da-compound (for things) or a preposition + pronoun (for people). You may need to
add in a “nicht” or “kein” for negative answers!
C. Unsere Pläne. In these questions and answers, you need to pay attention to what you’re saying -- look at the
verb in your answer (the right-side column) in order to decide which preposition + pronoun or da-compound to
use.
E. Ganz einfach. At this point you should be fairly comfortable knowing which prepositions belong with which
verbs. Purely as a reinforcement drill, fill in the following blanks with the correct preposition that goes with
each verb. Try to do this without reference to your notes, and feel free to correct your answers using the course
webpage.
