sen, von denen in diesem Hcft sechs,,Duos galants
pour deux musettes,vielles et autres instrunrents"
(,,Galantc Duos fi.ir Dudelsi&e, Drehleicrn und
andere Instrumente") herausgegebenwerden. Eine
Auswahl alter franzcisisclerVolksweisenund Wcih-
nadrtslieder,von Ch6dcvillcfiir zwei gleicheMclodie-
instrumente gesetzt (,,Kleine Weihnachtsmusikdes
Herrn Ch6deville"),ersdrienals Birenreiter-Ausgabe
965.
Obwohl die vorliegenden Suiten audr fiir ,,andcre
Instrumente" komponiert wurdcn, sollten sie wegen
ihres ausgesprochcnbldscrisdren Charaktcrs von
Flciten,Oboen oder Klarinetten gespieltwerden. Sie
eignen sich audr vorziiglidr fiir dic Wiedcrgabc auf
zwei Alt-Blo&flciten.
Alle Akzente, Vorhalte und Verzierungenstamrnen
vom Komponisten. Die Akzente verlangen cine
leidrte Intensivierungdes Tons. Die Vorhalte diirfen
ungefdhr den halben Wert des Haupttons beanspru-
dren. Die Verzierungen,nach damaliger Gewohnhcit
nur durd-r ein * angcdeutet, sollten von geiibteren
Spielern unbedingt beadrtet wcrden, da der Reidr-
tum und die Mannigfaltigkeit des Ornaments cin
Wesensmerkmalaller Rokokokunst bilden. Die Aus-
fiihrung der Verzierungerr bleibt dcm tedrnisdren
Kcinnen und besondersdem Stilgcftihl des Bldsers
iiberlassen, der selbst entsdrciden mu0, weldre
,,Manieren" (Pralltriller, Mordent, Triller, Vorsdrlag
oder Doppelsd,lag)an dcn bezcidrnetenStellensinn-
voll und klangsdrcin ersdreinen.
Sicherlidr werden sidr die Anfinger im Blo&flciten-
spiel freuen, wenn sie einmal grciBere,leidrte, ab-
wedrslungsreidreund eingdngige originale BIiser-
konzerte bewdltigen kcinnen; filr die Fortgesdrrit-

old French folh-sougs and noels, set by Ch{deville
for two cqual instruwents, is published as Baren-
reiter 965 (Short Pieces of ChristuaasMusic by
E. Ph. Chtdevillc). Although the presentsuites were
also cowposedlor "other instruwents", ou account
of thcir pronounccdwind-lihe character they should
be played by llutes, oboesor clarinets.They are also
extrewely suitable lor perlorwance by two treble
r ecorders.

The accents requirc a light intensification of tone.
Thc grace notes should be approxiwately half the
value of thc wain note. The orharilentsaccordingto
the custow ol thc tiwe indicated only by * , should
iwplicitly be observed by the wore shilled player,
since the abuudanceand variety of ornawents is an
essential characteristicof all rococo art. The per-
forwance of the ornatucnts is lelt to the tedrnical
ability and parriculatly the feeling for style of the
player, who ,uust hirilself decide which ornan4ent
(mordent, trill, appogiaturaor turn) is suitable in a
particulat placc, and will sound well.
The Iess experienced recorder player will surely
