2.2 Lizenzen
Between CISCO and Telefonica a “pay for use” license concept is negotiated. The licenses are organized
in 100G/10G portions of activated Interface capacity and in Right-of-use (RTU) and SIA. Licenses are
valid for one year and for 3 year (1-year license are much more expensive then the 3-year licenses).
For this Telefonica will operate a license server (operational responsibility in BO-IP). After integration the
router contacts the Telefonica internal license server and reserves the needed licenses based on
activated port capacity.
HW and License ordering are decoupled. So HW ordering will be done without licenses, the license
server will be monitored, and new licenses will be ordered if needed.
Monitored by BO-IP/MAT => ordered by MAT
Port address consists of 4 digits (with exception of NCS520) but there is no slot and module structure
visible in the router-HW. The address system is not consistent over the families, for NCS 560 the MPA
position (=card slot) is in the 2nd digit, for NCS57C3 the MPA slot is in the 3rd digit. NCS 540 and 520
doesn’t have slots nevertheless the port address consists of 4 or 3 digits.
On some Interface cards the Router supports different port modes at the same port position depending of
this usage, the preamble of the port address changes depending on the configuration and the used SFP.
So the “Interface Type” defines the preamble of the port address for the configuration.
Interface Type Port preamble
Auto % or GigEthernet GigabitEthernet
10GigEthernet TenGigE
25GigEthernet TwentyFiveGigE
100GigEthernet HundredGigE
The Portnaming is set on a default value e.g. TenGigE , but when populated with a SFP (1G) instead of a
SFP+ the port name changed to GigabitEthernet. In case the configuration is done before the correct SFP
is inserted the configuration will be present as “preconfiguration”, in the moment the correct SFP is
inserted the configuration is swapped from preconfiguration to the port configuration and die actual port
configuration (if a configuration exists) is swapped to “preconfiguration”.

Card can provide 16*1GE if using cSFP(compact-Size SFP) Telefonica will use only bi-directional SFP,
so the card provides 8*1G(SFP) plus 1*10G (SFP+)

In Telefonica network the default setting for 1G port (electrical and optical) is autonegotation, at this
device only the 8*1G+1*10G supports this function. For this reason mobile station with 1G has to be

1G port at this card doesn’t support autonegotation for this reason these ports shouldn’t be used for
mobile access devises because the configuration of non-autonegotation is not supported in the toolchain.

2.4.3 Ordering
There are no bundles defined between Telefonica and ITALTEL/CISCO
Following Bundle definitions are TEF internal as a proposal for the planer, but can be adapted according
to site specific requirements.

Managmentport: MgmtEth0/RP0/CPU0/0
The Cisco NCS 540 1RU Router has the following fixed ETHERNET_PORTs:
24 x 10G SFP+ Ports (Support DWDM & ZR Optics)
8 x 25G SFP28 Ports
2 x 100G QSFP28 Ports
TenGigE0/0/0/<0….23>
TwentyFiveGigE0/0/0/<24….31> 3
HundredGigE0/0/1/<0…1>
2.5.2 Ordering
The NCS540 is a fixed 1RU router, so there is only on position for the chassis plus the needed SFP:
The NCS57C3 will be used as a SWD-H in the Telefonica network (Not connected to NOKIA BSC, see
below !!!)
NCS57C3 is used as ROUTER GROUP (xakta) if connected to a BSC (Huawei)
HW Restiction:
Because of HW restriction the NCS57C3 can’t support 100MBit/s for this reason a pre-switch (NCS520)
must be implemented to every NCS57C3. If no need of 100Mbit/s interfaces is visible, the planer can
decide not to implement the NCS520.
In case of a HL4 swap including FE connectivity the NCS520 must be realized and integrated at the
legacy router in advance to the swap.
Also, the NCS57C3 is not able to support auto-negotation for opt. 1G interfaces for this reason the router
must not be used to connect a NOKIA BSC4 to the network. For elektr. SFP Autonegotation is supported
but only 1G BW.
3
The ports can be changed to 10Gig by configuration, this must not be supported by xakta because 24
1G/10G-ports are fully sufficient at the access point of the network where this router will be used.
4
At Nokia BSC (Card ???) it is not possible to disable the auto-negotation at 1G opt. Ports
The Router is a 3RU Chassis with several fixed ports and 3 slots (MPA) to be populated with Interface
cards
These Ports support different Interface modes depending on the configuration and SFP used at the
particular port position.

2.6.2 Ordering
The NCS57C3 carries 48 ETHERNET_PORTs on the Chassis, so the proposed default configuration is
just the Chassis with the needed SFP, additional the NCS520 for FE connectivity has to be ordered, as
mentioned above the planer can skip this position if no 100Mbit/s used is visible:
Because of the usage of the NCS520 switch between BSC and HRAN Router as a media converter FE
(el.) to 10GE (opt) the routing model in xakta has to be adapted (see appendix)

Ca. 2,8 kg following specifications.
Front clearance—5 inches (12.7 centimeters)
Rear clearance—3.93 inches (10 centimeters)”
2.7.2 Ordering
See NCS57C3
It is not foreseen to order a NCS520 without a NCS57C3, nevertheless it is possible from HW point of
view.
In case of a HL4 swap including FE connectivity the NCS520 must be realized and integrated at the
legacy router in advance to the swap.
3 Appendix
3.1 Orderingposition
There are bundles for chassis including Controller, PSU, FAN, Mountigkits,…. , Interface card can be
ordered by need per site, nevertheless standard ordering bundles are described here as a Telefonica
internal definition.
