0 Motorölsorten / Viskositätsklassen

Je nach Motor- und Fahrzeugtyp schreibt BMW unterschiedliche Motorölsorten vor. Andere als die hier
genannten Spezifikationen oder Begriffe wie z. B. "Leichtlauföl, Vollsynthetisches" usw. geben keinen Hinweis
auf die Verwendbarkeit in Motoren der BMW Group.
Longlife-04 Öle
Wurden entwickelt, um eine optimale Lebensdauer der Partikelfilter in Dieselmotoren zu gewährleisten. Diese
Öle sind für alle Dieselmotoren mit Partikelfilter vorgeschrieben, können aber auch in fast allen anderen BMW
Motoren eingesetzt werden. Sie erfüllen ebenso wie die Longlife-01 und Longlife-01 FE Öle die derzeit
höchsten Qualitätsanforderungen von BMW. In Ländern außerhalb Europas (EU plus Schweiz, Norwegen und
Liechtenstein) dürfen Longlife-04 Öle nicht in BMW Ottomotoren verwendet werden.
Longlife-01 Öle
Weisen eine vergleichbare hohe Qualität auf wie Longlife-04 und Longlife-01 FE Öle und sind in den meisten
BMW Motoren einsetzbar.
Longlife-01 FE Öle
Können aufgrund ihrer besonders niedrigen Viskosität den Kraftstoffverbrauch günstig beeinflussen. Sie sind
jedoch nur in Motoren einsetzbar, die konstruktiv für den Betrieb mit solch niedrig viskosen Ölen ausgelegt sind
(Ottomotoren mit Valvetronic).
Longlife-98 Öle
Erfüllen die erstmals 1998 mit der Einführung der verlängerten Ölwechselintervalle definierten Anforderungen.
Für die aktuellen Ottomotoren und Dieselmotoren ist die Qualität nicht mehr ausreichend.
Spezialöle:
Werden - mit einer Ausnahme - nicht mehr ...gelistet, sind aber weiterhin für Fahrzeuge mit
Ölwechselintervallen bis 15000 km einsetzbar.
ACEA-Spezifikation
Für ältere Fahrzeuge können noch Öle verwendet werden, die ebenfalls nicht namentlich gelistet sind aber
folgende Spezifikation aufweisen:
Ottomotoren: A2/B2, A3/B3 oder A3/B4
Dieselmotoren: A3/B3 oder A3/B4
Hinweis zu Erstbetriebs- oder Einlaufölen:
In BMW Motoren kommen keine speziellen Einlauföle zum Einsatz. Daher gelten für die Befüllung oder zum
Nachfüllen vor dem 1. Ölservice an neuen, überholten oder Austauschmotoren ebenfalls die genannten
Ölvorschriften.
Viskositätsklassen
Die Viskosität ist ein Maß für die Zähflüssigkeit eines Motoröls. Sie weist eine ausgeprägte Abhängigkeit von
der Öltemperatur auf, d. h. je höher die Temperatur, desto niedriger ist die Viskosität. Die Öltemperatur wiederum
ist u. a. von der Umgebungstemperatur abhängig, bei der das Fahrzeug betrieben wird.
Bei niedrigen Außentemperaturen darf das Öl nicht zu zähflüssig sein, damit bei kaltem Motor eine rasche
Versorgung aller Schmierstellen gewährleistet ist. Bei hohen Öl- bzw. Motortemperaturen muss das Öl eine
gewisse Mindestviskosität zum Aufbau einer ausreichenden Schmierfilmdicke aufweisen.
Moderne Mehrbereichsöle verbinden gute Tieftemperatureigenschaften mit ausreichender Schmierung auch
bei hohen Öltemperaturen, wodurch bei Wahl einer geeigneten Viskositätsklasse rein jahreszeitlich bedingte
Ölwechsel vermieden werden können.
Bei Verwendung von Motorölen gemäß Anlage 3 gelten folgende Regeln für die Wahl der geeigneten
Viskositätsklasse:
BMW Longlife Öle:
BMW Longlife Öle, wie sie ab 1998 für alle BMW Modelle vorgeschrieben sind, werden von BMW darauf
geprüft, dass sie bei beliebigen Umgebungstemperaturen weltweit ganzjährig einsetzbar sind. Bei BMW
Longlife Ölen muss deshalb auf die Viskositätsklasse nicht weiter geachtet werden. Ausnahme M47TÜ2, für
SAE 5W-X Öle gilt eine untere Temperaturgrenze von -20°C, bei Unterschreiten dieser Grenze kann es zu

 Beeinträchtigungen des Kaltstarts kommen. Bei Ländern mit häufigen Außentemperaturen unter -20°C
empfehlen wir daher 0W anstatt 5W Produkte.BWM Longlife Öle gibt es nur in den Viskositätsklassen SAE
0W-30, SAE 0W-40, SAE 5W-30 und SAE 5W-40.
BMW Spezial Öle:
SAE 0W-X und SAE 5W-X Öle (X steht dabei für 30, 40, 50 oder 60) können bei beliebigen
Umgebungstemperaturen weltweit ganzjährig eingesetzt werden. Für SAE 10W-X Öle gilt eine untere
Temperaturgrenze von -20°C, bei Unterschreiten dieser Grenze kann es zu Beeinträchtigungen des Kaltstarts
kommen.
ACEA-Spezifikation:
Die geeignete Viskositätsklasse ist nach dem Viskositäts/Temperatur-Schaubild zu wählen. Auch hier können
bei richtiger Wahl rein jahreszeitlich bedingte Ölwechsel vermieden werden (z. B. SAE 15W-40 für Mitteleuropa).
Die im Schaubild dargestellten Temperaturgrenzen dürfen kurzzeitig über- oder unterschritten werden. Bei
Überschreiten der Temperaturgrenze sind hohe Motordrehzahlen und große Motorbelastung über einen
längeren Zeitraum zu vermeiden. Bei Unterschreiten der Temperaturgrenze kann es zu Beeinträchtigungen des
Kaltstarts kommen.

A = Longlife-Öle (nach Anlagen 4, 5, 6)

B = Spezialöle(nach Anlage 8)
C = ACEA-Spezifikation für Dieselmotoren (nach Anlage 11)
D = ACEA-Spezifikation für Ottomotoren (nach Anlage 11)
