4. Betriebsspannung

9. Technische Daten
1. Before installation
The information given in the present manual must by all means be carefully read and observed.
Only then can a perfect functioning of the Shaking Water Bath be guaranteed.
A free of charge guarantee repair cannot be granted for defects due to improper installation or
handling.
All free openings of the water connections on the right-hand side of the unit are covered with
tape. These transport protections have to be removed before installation.
The glass valve must be screwed together with the mono-distillate outlet (left-hand front of the
unit) and outlet tube must be screwed together with the bi-distillate outlet.
4. Voltage
Main switch of the Double Distiller must be in OFF position.
Mains voltage and voltage stated on the name plate at the left-hand side of the unit must
be identical.
If this applies, unit can be connected.
Please also refer to item 12 of these operating instructions "Examples for power connections".
5. Water connections
All water connections of the water still, except the distillate withdrawals, are on the right-hand
side of the unit. Hoses for water inlet and outlet are not supplied and have to be obtained by the
users themselves.
Both hose connections must by all means be secured with hose clamps!
5.2 Inlet separate water supply (2) (accessory, article number 2903)
The water inlet for the separate water supply (2) feeds pretreated water through a solenoid valve
with built-in quantity regulator (0.5 l/min) into the boiler of the water still.
The hose connection must be connected with a ½" pressure hose and a blockable water
connection (5, cut-off valve).
Both hose connections must by all means be secured with hose clamps!
5.3 Outlet separate water supply (4) (accessory, article number 2903)
Connect a ½" hose to the outlet connection of the separate water supply (4) and lead it to a drain
on a lower level. It must not be longer than approx 1.5 m.
It must have a slope on the complete length and must not be obstructed.
6. Initiation
After assembling all power and water connections, the cut-off valves of the mains supply (3, 5)
must be opened and the main switch must be switched on.
The first few litres of distillate produced (mono and bi distillate) should not be used.
Between switching the unit off and on again, always wait for approx 10 seconds, as otherwise the
unit will be switched into "Cleaning" mode.
All cut-off valves of the mains supply should be closed when the still
is not in operation.
7. Functional description
7.1 Double Distillers
GFL Double Distillers are fully automatic.
After switching the unit on via the main switch, the green pilot lamp in the main switch will glow.
The built-in solenoid valve is opened. Water flows through the cooling coil of the bi stage glass
condenser of the bi stage and the cooling coil of the mono stage condenser and fills the boiler of
the mono stage with tap water, regulated by a mechanical water level regulator.
The water level regulator controls the water level in the boiler. Water that will not be used for
vaporization flows off through the cooling water outlet.
The water level in the boilers is controlled by float switches that cause the heating elements to be
switched on and that protect the unit against running dry.
Additionally, the heating elements in both distillation stages are protected against over
temperature by thermostatic low water cut-offs.
When the heating elements of the mono stage boiler are below water level, they are switched on
and bring the water to the boil.
Steam will rise up and condense on the cooling coil of the mono stage condenser.
Mono distillate can be withdrawn from the glass tap at the front of the unit.
If the glass valve for withdrawal of mono distillate is closed, the distilled water from the mono
stage will be led to the boiler of the second stage.
When the heating elements of the bi stage boiler are below water level, the heating elements are
switched on. The mono distillate in the bi stage boiler is brought to the boil. The steam will
condense in the glass condenser of the bi stage and then flows off as bi distillate through the
outlet tube with dust guard shield that is screwed to the condenser. The maximum water level in
the bi stage boiler is limited by an overflow to the cooling water outlet.
Operation mode of the heating elements in both stages is indicated by yellow pilot lamps.
When the Double Distiller is operated for the first time, the procedure until production of bi-
distillate will take approx 2 hours.
7.3 Degassing
Carbon dioxide is released through the two exhaust tubes on the top of the unit.
8.1 Descaling
Depending on the degree of hardness of the tap water, the double distiller must be descaled in
regular intervals. For this purpose, remove the glass fittings, the outer hood, the condenser of the
mono stage and the deflector under the condenser (observe exact position for re-
installation!).
A suitable descaling agent would be a mixture of 10% formic acid, 10% acetic acid and 80%
distilled water. Usual commercial descaling agents can also be used (eg "tin-be" by Dr. Otto
Hartmann, 71665 Vaihingen/Enz, Germany).
Do not use hydrochloric acid!
Fill this solution into the boiler up to the top rim of the scalings and heat to approx 70°C. For this,
close valves (3 + 5) and switch on the distiller until the temperature is reached. After approx 30
minutes, drain the descaling agent/scale mixture through the drain cock "drain cock mono stage
boiler" (8) and rinse the boiler with clear water several times.
To re-install, fit all removed parts in reverse order, open the valves for water supply (3 + 5) and
switch on the main switch of the unit.
After descalings, the first few litres of distillate produced should not be used as they could
contain traces of vaporized descaling agent. The contents of the bi stage boiler are to be
discarded, as well as the first few litres of freshly produced mono distillate in the bi stage boiler
(Valves7).
8.2 Sterilising
By closing the water supply valve for cooling water (3) during operation the clean water area
(condensers) can be sterilised for a maximum of 3 minutes.
The steam produced by the heating elements exhausts through the exhaust tubes, through the
opened glass valve for mono distillate withdrawal and the outlet tube for bi distillate.
Caution!
Heavy steam formation.
Danger of scaldings!
The mono stage boiler must now be drained through the drain cock "Drainage Mono Stage
Boiler" (8) and rinsed with clear water several times. Water to rinse the boiler can be fed to the
unit by switching it on until the mono stage is switched on (yellow pilot lamp mono stage).
The shutdown "Clean" will be cleared by switching the unit off, waiting for 10 seconds, then
switching it on again.
GFL Double Distillers are produced of first class materials and are made to withstand even
rough service conditions. Nevertheless, the unit should only be subjected to rough conditions
within sensible limits.
Please make sure that no fluids come into contact with cable connections or the
electrical parts of the inside unit!
The pulver-coated surfaces and the front screen of the unit can be cleaned with mild detergents,
if necessary.
Only original spare parts must be used. Always demand a detailed confirmation of the carried out
tasks by the person in charge (company, date, signature).
9. Technical Data
Destillierapparates an.
