TM EWM Integration
Business Cases

 Today’s digital supply chain is advanced central process driving all the industry
operations. Improvement in the efficiency of a supply chain is one of the major aims for
most customers. SAP TM helps in the reduction of freight costs with optimization of
capacity of Transportation resources (for example; Trucks, Trailers) and SAP EWM
assists in the improvement of warehouse efficiencies.

 Now the SAP TM-EWM Embedded in S/4HANA, SAP also offers direct integration
between SAP TM and EWM.

 Packages Building functionality for Transportation management provides the option to

build overall pallets/HU’s with the most appropriate packaging materials to optimize the
capacity of the truck. Direct integration between TM & EWM can now transfer the
packaging material in TM to EWM so that the warehouse manger arranges to also pack
the deliveries of materials with the same packaging materials, complete picking, loading
and dispatch goods to customer.

 S/4HANA core business document (Sales Order/Delivery/Purchase Order) triggers the

creation of Transportation Request as Freight Unit in SAP TM, Transport planners
complies the planning using Transportation Cockpit, resulting into creation of Freight
Order/Freight Booking. Planner then sets the status of FO/FB to “Load plan finalized” or
sends loading instructions to SAP EWM. EWM receives the trigger from TM with
required details and creates Transportation Unit for picking, loading and goods issue to
customer.
