Intended Use
HSRate-CONTROL is a control designed to monitor erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
values obtained from manual and automated ESR methods. Please refer to the assay
table for specific methods.
When handled like a patient sample and assayed on a properly calibrated and
functioning instrument, the control will provide values within the expected range
indicated on the assay sheet.
Daily use of these controls provides quality control data to confirm the precision and
accuracy of instrument operation.
HSRate-CONTROL is intended for in vitro diagnostic use by trained personnel.
Summary
HSRate-CONTROL is a quality control material of 2 levels with target values in the
normal and high range. The concentrations have been selected to ensure periodic
quality control of the ESR methods mentioned in the target value table. It is sampled in
the same manner as an EDTA anti-coagulated patient sample.
Reagents and Contents
[LEVEL1] 1 x 2 ml normal range (green cap)
[LEVEL2] 1 x 2 ml high range (red cap)
All reagents are ready to use.
Content: Mammalian erythrocytes suspended in a plasma-like fluid with preservatives.
Stability
Unopened tubes when stored at 2...8°C, HSRate-CONTROL are stable up to the expiry
date printed on the individual label.
Stability after opening: 30 days, provided they are handled properly. Protect tubes from
overheating and freezing. On HumaSRate 24PT, tubes never get opened.
Procedure
Caution: It is critically important to mix HSRate-CONTROL thoroughly at all mixing
steps
1. Remove one tube of each [LEVEL] from refrigerator and warm for 15 minutes to
room temperature (20…25°C) before mixing.
2. To mix, hold a tube horizontally between the palms of the hands.
Do not pre-mix on a mechanical mixer. DO NOT VORTEX!
a) Roll the tube back and forth for 30 - 60 seconds; occasionally invert the tube. Mix
vigorously, but do not shake.
b) Continue to mix in this manner until the red cells are completely suspended.
Tubes stored for a long time may require extra mixing.
3. Gently invert the tube 10 times immediately before sampling..
4. Refer to the user manual of the HumaSRate 24PT ([REF] 15024/1) for the test
procedure. Handle HSRate-CONTROL like a sample. It is ready for use. No pre-
treatment, dilution, etc. is necessary.
5. If tube has been open for manual sampling, clean residual material from the cap and
tube rim with a lint-free tissue. Replace the cap tightly.
Target Values
See [LOT] specific data table.
The target values are obtained using recommended and well maintained methods, such
as HumaSRate 24PT. The results determined should be within the ranges established in
the assay value table.
Notes
1. Product deterioration (by overheating or freezing) may be indicated by the inability
to obtain target values. Moderately coloured supernatant is normal, but darkly red
coloured supernatant may be indicative of product deterioration. Discard this
product and re-assay an unopened tube (normal colour).
2. The performance of this product is assured only if it is properly stored and used as
described in this insert. Incomplete mixing of a tube prior to use invalidates both the
sample withdrawn and any remaining material in the tube.

Verwendungszweck
HSRate CONTROL ist ein Blutkontrollmaterial zur Überprüfung der
Erythrozytensedimentationsrate (ESR), die mit manuellen und automatisierten ESR-
Methoden erzielt wurden. Die jeweiligen Methoden sind dem beiliegenden Sollwerte-
blatt zu entnehmen.
Wenn die Kontrolle wie eine Patientenprobe gehandhabt und auf einem kalibrierten
und funktionierenden Instrument durchgeführt wird, liefert sie Werte innerhalb des auf
dem Sollwerteblatt angegebenen erwarteten Bereichs.
Durch die tägliche Anwendung dieser Kontrollen werden geeignete Qualitätskontroll-
meßwerte erzeugt, um die Richtigkeit und die Genauigkeit der Meßgeräte zu
bestätigen.
HSRate-CONTROL ist für die in-vitro diagnostische Anwendung durch geschultes
Personal vorgesehen.
Zusammenfassung
HSRate-CONTROL ist ein Qualitätskontrollmaterial mit 2 Bereichen mit Sollwerten im
normalen und erhöhten Bereich. Die Konzentrationen sind so gewählt, dass eine
periodische Qualitätskontrolle der im Sollwertzettel aufgeführten ESR-Methoden
gewährleistet ist. Es wird wie eine mit EDTA antikoagulierte Patientenprobe behandelt.
Reagenz und Inhalt
[LEVEL1] 1 x 2 ml Normalbereich (grüne Kappe)
[LEVEL2] 1 x 2 ml erhöhter Bereich (rote Kappe)
Alle Reagenzien sind gebrauchsfertig.
Inhalt: Schweinerythrozyten suspendiert in einer plasmaähnlichen Flüssigkeit mit
Konservierungsmitteln.
Haltbarkeit
Ungeöffnet ist die HSRate-CONTROL bei 2...8 °C bis zum aufgedruckten Verfallsdatum
haltbar.
Haltbarkeit nach Öffnen: 30 Tage bei korrekter Lagerung und Anwendung. Röhrchen vor
Überhitzen und Einfrieren schützen. Auf dem HumaSRate 24PT werden die Röhrchen nie
geöffnet.
Testdurchführung
Achtung: Das gründliche Mischen von HSRate-CONTROL bei allen Mischschritten ist
von entscheidender Bedeutung.
1. Je ein Röhrchen eines [LEVEL] aus dem Kühlschrank nehmen und vor dem Mischen
auf Raumtemperatur (20...25 °C) erwärmen (15 Minuten).
2. Zum Mischen das Röhrchen zwischen die Handflächen nehmen.
Keinen mechanischen Mixer verwenden. NICHT VORTEXEN!
c) Das Röhrchen für 30 - 60 Sekunden hin und her rollen, dabei gelegentlich über
Kopf drehen. Kräftig mischen, aber nicht schütteln.
d) So lange weiter mischen, bis die Erythrozyten vollständig suspendiert sind. Länger
gelagerte Röhrchen benötigen eventuell weiteres Mischen.
3. Unmittelbar vor der Probenentnahme die Röhrchen 10 Mal behutsam über Kopf
drehen.
4. Hinsichtlich der Testdurchführung das Benutzerhandbuch für HumaSRate 24PT ([REF]
15024/1) beachten. HSRate-CONTROL wie eine Probe behandeln. Die Kontrollen sind
gebrauchsfertig und müssen nicht vorbehandelt, verdünnt usw. werden.
Sollwerte
Siehe [LOT] spezifisches Datenblatt.
Die Sollwerte wurden unter Verwendung empfohlener und gut gewarteter Geräte wie
dem HumaSRate 24PT ermittelt. Die bestimmten Werte sollten innerhalb der im Daten-
blatt festgelegten Bereiche liegen.
Hinweise
1. Der Verfall des Produktes (durch Überhitzen oder Einfrieren) kann für eine fehlende
Wiederfindung der Sollwerte ursächlich sein. Eine schwache Färbung des Über-
standes ist normal. Dunkelrot gefärbter Überstand weist hingegen auf ein verfalle-
nes Produkt hin, es ist zu entsorgen und die Testung ist mit einem ungeöffneten
Röhrchen (normale Färbung) zu wiederholen.
2. Die Leistung dieses Produktes ist nur gewährleistet, wenn es wie in dieser
Gebrauchsanleitung beschrieben gelagert und verwendet wird. Unvollständiges
Mischen eines Röhrchens vor Gebrauch macht sowohl die entnommene Probe als
auch das verbleibende Material im Röhrchen ungültig.
