When people watch Fokus Deutsch, they might wonder why Marion has all this difficulty with moving from one school to another, or I should say not wanting to move from one school to another because she has to take her Abitur. The Abitur is a very important comprehensive exam in Germany and it's very important for young people who want to take that Abitur so they can go on to the university level. The Abitur is not in that sense a standardized test. It is actually a series of tests that students have to take in their final year of the Gymnasium.
Probably the best piece of advice I could give anyone about using Fokus Deutsch and learning German through the whole Fokus Deutsch program is to approach it in a relaxed fashion. Don't worry about not understanding every word of German that you hear. Watch the programs, be attentive, listen, use the print materials, allow yourself just to be immersed in the German that you hear. You'll see that little by little you'll begin to aquire and to learn German.
