□ Frequenz
. . 60 Hz (± 5 %) ohne Umstellmaßnahmen betrieben werden.
□ Sollwert

Sollwert (< 10V ) (> 10V … 12 V)
Externe Sollwertvorgabe
□ Sollwertleitungen von einer übergeordneten Steuereinrichtung (z.B. NC) an X 1:5, X1:15 abklemmen.
· LED H3 (rot) an
Idn = Geräte-Nennstrom
IGrenz
= Strombegrezungswert
Bild 2./3)
□ Antrieb abschalten.
□ Ermittelte Widerstände R92 und ggf. R144/AF 6002 (Bereich n-Regler) einlöten und ggf. Brücke P7 - P8/AF 6002 entfernen.
2.4. Zeitverhalten
Grundsätzliche Abgleichreiheinfolge:
Zuerst Stromregler, danach Drehzahlregler abgleichen.
Widerstand R56 (Bereich I-Regler) einstellbar.

Idn = Geräte-Nennstrom
IGrenz = Strombegrenzungswert
□ Feldversorgung wieder anschließen, bei vorhandener Feldstromüberwachung Brücke wieder entfernen. Mechanische Blockierung wieder
aufheben, Antrieb für Leerlauf einrichten.
□ Schalterverbindung X1:15 – X1:16 entfernen.
□ Widerstand R89 und Kondensator C31/AF 6002 wieder einlöten.
□ Potentiometer R5/AF 6002 auf Mittelstellung stellen.
□ Sollwertpotentiometer wie in Bild 2./1 (Seite 7) anschließen.
□ Ggf. Verbindung AAD/X1:17 - GLB X1:14 wieder herstellen.

Bild 2./16): R5 in Richtung Minimum drehen (P-Verstärkung kleiner).
Träges Regelverhalten (s. Bild 2./17: R5 in Richtung Maximum drehen (P-Verstärkung größer).

2.6.6. Meldung Drehzahl kleiner Minimal-Drehzahl
LED H8 (grün) an
Der Ansprechwert ist vom Widerstand R190/AF 6002 (Bereich Überwachung) abhängig:
2.6.7. Stillstandslogik
4.1. AAD 6 . . A

Arrangement of potentiometers and LED’S
1. Preliminary checks
□ Check readiness for operation, e.g. oil, brake, ball-screw clamps, gear box, etc.
1.2 Checks and adjustments with power off (e.g. with line fuses removed)
□ Check AAD unit for shipping and mounting damage. Check main and control leads for proper and tiqht connection.
□ Check optional accessories (including documentation supplied). For start-up use unit without accessory equipment at first (does not apply to field
weakening PCB GLB). Then, install the accessory equipment and begin with start-up of this equipment.
□ Check for proper power supply and check that the equipment is properly protected (heed max. current). Inspect protective measures (grounding
of equipment).
□ Supply voltage
The underlined value indicates the voltage for which the equipment is usually supplied by ABB. For adjustments see also component AM 60 . .
“Power pack”.
□ Change jumper R57/AF 6002 (PCB area: current regulator) as instructed in the table below (EMF adaption)
□ Loosen knurled-head screws and swing out electronic section. Change jumpers on transformer module AM 60 . . (at upper edge):
Since power section and electronic section are supplied separately, it is possible to switch on the electronic section only. The power section can be
switched on after the auxiliaries and other items of equipment have reached the operating state. In the event of fault only the power section has to
be switched off; the fault signal of the electronic section is maintained.
□ Loosen knurled-head screws and swing out electronic section. Remove jumpers between
terminals R3, S3, T3 and plugs R2, S2, T2 on transformer module AM 60 . . . Connect
the electronic section leads to terminals R3, S3, T3.
Line voltage corresponds to rated supply voltage, motor voltage considerably smaller than
recommended
□ Calculate size of resistor R57 / AF 6002 (PCB area: current regulator) and solder in:
The resistor installed should approximate the calculated value as closely as possible.

□ Frequency
The units can be operated with a system frequency ranging from 50 Hz to 60 Hz (±5 %) without the need for any adjustment measures.
□ Speed reference
The input for the main reference is terminal X1:5 (max. admissible value 12 V).
Voltage of speed reference signal = 10 V (factory-adjusted)
Adaption of speed reference
Fig. 1, / 3 Resistance R102 as a function of speed Fig. 1. / 4 Resistance R229 as a function of speed
reference ( < 10 V) reference ( > 10 V ... 12 V)
□ Disconnect reference leads from superordinated control system (e.g. numerical control) at X1:5, X1:15. For start-up the internal reference signal
voltage source can be used; in this case connection must be implemented as indicated in figure 2./1 (page 7).
The feedback voltage (tach voltaqe) depends on the motor speed and the tach rating (voltage UT at 1000 min -1).
□ Adaption
Fine balancing of speed is performed on pot R3/AF 6002, with the motor running; measuring of actual speed with an RPM meter at the motor shaft.
1.4 Stop with delayed regulator blocking at X1:13
lf the input at terminal X1:13 is not used, the regulators are blocked irrespective of the reference applied to X1:5. lf a starting command is given
(connect X1:13 to +24 V, e.g. X1:10), the drive starts without any delay. lf the starting command (stop) is removed, the reference is switched to
zero, the regulators are blocked after elapse of an adjustable delay time (braking time tV) and the firing pulse are displaced to the inverter limit
position.
Check which circuit configuration suits your application. The as-delivered condition of the circuit provides for active switching by means of a
contact (Fig. 1. / 5). For passive switching, i.e. presetting of inverter command and regulator blocking by electronic signal (Fig. 1. / 6 and
Fig. 1. / 7), jumper 113 / AF 6002 (PCB area monitoring) must be removed.
Drawn contact position = inverter command and 0V = inverter command and regular blocked
regulator blocked
24 V = pulse release
Contact closed = pulse release
Remark: in the case of actuation by means of an electronic signal,
Fig. 1./5 Inverter command by way of contact which is not able to actively switch to zero, jumper 113 / AF 6002
(fail-safe circuit) must be removed by the user and solder point 113 / 2 must be
connected with 0 V,
□ Set pot R5 / AF 6002 (VP) on 12 o'clock position and pot R3 (n) on min.
□ Switch the system on and adjust field current while motor is in cold condition. Inspect field current monitor (if installed).
The type GLB field weakening PCB lends itself particularly well to controlled field supply. The version with a rated current of 5.5 A d.c. (GLB 0201)
can be integrated into the AAD 6..1, whereas the version with 15 V d.c. (GLB 0501) must be installed separately.
The operating instructions GNV 990 2469 supplied herewith contain detailed information for installation and start-up.
The line contactor should pull up only if the monitors, e.g, the field supply and motor fan monitor, have signalled readiness for operation.
Note proper phase sequence: At terminals AK1, AK2, AK3 the phase sequence must correspond to a clockwise rotating field.
With power section and electronic section being supplied separately, attention must be paid to the proper
phase sequence !
In the case of a counterclockwise rotating field (H1 dark, H2 lit) two three-phase wires must be interchanged
and reconnected. lf, after reconection LED H1 does not come on, there must be a fault. For fault elimination
see 3. TROUBLE- SHOOTING.
Important! Do not perform any changes on the electronic with the unit switched on.
Important! lf voltages smaller than 15 V are used for the speed reference during operation, the preset voltage
for nref must not exceed the nref max value intended for normal operation.
□ Switch unit on, cancel regulator blocking command and observe motor:
lf the motor accelerate, for a short time, and then the AAD unit switches off (LEDs H2 and H3 lit),
there is no tach feedback or the tach feedback has the wrong polarity.
□ Check sense of rotation in accordance with reference polarity; in the case of wrong sense of rotation, change polarity of amature circuit or field circuit
and tach feedback lines (for doing so, switch drive off!).
The tach monitor responds in cases where no speed feedback or feedback with wrong polarity is provided after presetting
of the speed reference
§ 0 V output at X1:25 (+24 V when there is a feedback, load capacity ≥ 600W at 20°C).
§ Output of inverter command, the regulator is blocked, and the drive coasts to rest. Simultaneously the “Ready for operation“ signal is
cancelled (LED H1 remains lit), signal at X1:25 changes to 0 V.
□ If in cases where the tach monitor responds, the “Ready for operation" signal is to be maintained , jumper 112 (PCB area: monitoring) must be
removed.
□ lf the tach monitor is to remain ineffective pins 38 and 0 V (space Sp) are to be connected.
□ Connect a piece of wire with jumper 114/1 and touch to X1:9 (0 V) (equivalent to tach loss). Now the AAD should switch off and LED's H2 and
H3 should be lit.
□ Cancel the signal by switching the unit off and then on.
The current limit is adjusted to rated current and can be reduced for both directions of rotation down to zero by means of resistor R92/AF 6002.
Fig. 2. / 2 Current limit I as a function of R92 Fig. 2. / 3 Current limit II as a function of R144
The current for direction II can be adjusted to a smaller value than for direction I by means lf resistor R144/AF 6002 (see Fig. 2./3)
□ Solder in resistors R92 and, if required, R144/AF 6002 with the calculated resistance values (PCB area: speed regulator) and, if necessary
remove jumper P7 - P8/AF 6002.
2.4 Optimization of regulators
First current regulator then speed regulator. If there comes another regulator for controlling other variables (such as pressure, force, travel) before
the speed regulator, it should be optimized last.
□ Disconnect field supply, bridge field current monitor (if installed). lf possible, block motor mechanically.
□ Interrupt R-C network of speed regulator at R89/2 and C31/2 (PCB area: speed regulator).
□ Connect oscillograph to R93/1 (PCB area: speed regulator) and 0 V.
□ Connect pushbutton (NC contact) or switch (closed type) to X1:15 – X1:16 (speed regulator arranged for 1:1 amplification).
□ Connect pot for reference settinq.
□ Remove connection AAD/X1:17 - GLB/X1:14 - lf any.
Only required for drives operating with small load torque (nearl no-load operation).
In order to avoid overshooting of the current after sudden load or reference changes, the R-C network of the current regulator is optimized during
operation with continuous current flow. This adjustment leads to a very slow response of the current regulator in the event of small loads and
intermittent flow of current. Therefore, a P circuit is used as a bypass during operation with intermittent current flow in order to improve the dynamic
response of the current regulator.
Excellent response at no-load or zero-speed is achieved by pulse operation with a small current (zero-current). The zero-current can be adjusted
with resistor R56 (PCB area: current regulator). The factory-adjusted value of R56 is 150 kW which corresponds to a current feedback of approx. 50
mV (peak), measured at R93/1 (PCB area: current regulator).
Note: The lower the resistance of R56, the smaller the zero-current; therefore, the space of R56 must not remain unoccupied.
Fig. 2. / 5 Zero current, measuring point R93/1
□ Bridge capacitor C5/AF 6002 (current regulator feedback), thus decreasing the current.
□ Connect variable resistance source to R13/AF 6002 (PCB area: current regulator) and reduce it, starting with 820 kW, until the current has
reached the limit for continuous flow again.
□ Increase resistance of R12 until the current flow just begins to decrease.
□ Switch the drive off, remove jumper from C5/AF 6002 and solder in the determined resistances R12 and R13 on AF 6002.
Remark: If during the subsequently performed current regulator optimization resistance R42/AF 6002 is changed, the bypass adjustment
must be checked again.
Important! Resistor and capacitor must be disconnected from the sources. The connections must be such that they cannot work loose during
the balancing procedure. Do not perform any soldering work while the unit is switched on
□ Preset several abrupt changes in current reference by operating the pushbutton or switch at X1:15 - X1:16: determine R-C network at which the
current curve looks like the curve shown in Fig. 2. / 8. Before changing over to then R-C element values, the regulator blocking command should
be applied.
Important! Avoid presetting the max. current for more than 10 s while the motor is or zero speed; otherwise commutator overheating may be
the consequence

Fig. 2. / 13
Notes: If later on the current limit is increased by more than 10%, the optimization procedure may have to be repeated. This is not necessary
in the case of a current reduction, which may, however, affect the dynamic control response.
In the case of any change of R42/AF 6002 the bypass adjustment must be checked pure more (see 2.5.1).
2.5.3 Limitation of rate of rise of current (di/dt adjust only when required)
The admissible rate of rise of the armature current di/dt depends on the electrical and magnetic design data of the motor. In general it can be said
that today's motors are capable of handling the rate of rise of the current (approx. 100 Idn/s) of conventional current regulator R-C networks. A
limitation of the rate of rise might become necessary in the case of
Limitation is achieved by integration of the current reference (C4/AF 6002), The admissible di/dt value can be taken from the data sheet of the
motor manufacturer or can be determined from the reversing behaviour of the motor (see 2.6.3).
□ Guide values: 0.22 µF to 1 µF small capacitance results in high di/dt. As delivered by ABB: 0.47 µF
2.5.4 “Current at limit” or “Overcurrent” signalling
□ Jumper 110/AF 6002 (PCB area: speed regulator) soldered in (as-delivered condition):
Fig. 2. / 14
In order to prevent a response during acceleration and deceleration or when the load is fluctuating, the signals are supplied, delayed by C65/AF
6002 (PCB area: monitoring):
The current feedback signal can be put out at X1:1, with the current limit corresponding to a 10 V signal:
□ Determine value of resistor R14/AF 6002 (PCB area: current regulator) and solder in.
□ Reconnect field supply; remove jumper of field current monitor (if installed). Cancel the mechanical blocking. Adjust drive for no-load operation.
□ Remove connection between X1:15 and X1:16.
□ Solder in resistor R89 und capacitor C31/AF 6002.
□ Set R5/AF 6002 on 12 o'clock position
□ Connect reference pot as illustrated in Fig. 2. / 1 (Page 8).
□ lf necessary, reestablish connection AAD/X1:17 - GLB/X1:14 .
The armature serves as an approximate measure for the speed; however, for more accurate adjustment measure the motor speed with an RPM
meter and make the necessary corrections (if any) on R3/AF 6002.
2.6.3. Controlled field weakening, adjustment of crossover point between armature and field control range
□ Follow procedure indicated in operating instructions for the field weakening PCB.
□ Check behaviour of motor during reversing
□ Provide several abrupt reference settings:
- from rated speed to zero
- from half field weakening range to zero
- from max. speed to zero
- Observe the commutator while applying these abrupt reference changes. If sparking occurs at the brushes, change the
rate of rise of the current di/dt (see 2.5.3).
An additional derivative control action can be achieved by soldering in resistor R90/AF 6002 and capacitor C33/AF 6002. By means of “Integral
amplification suppression" it is ensured that the new speed is reached without overshooting during operation at the current limit.
2.6.5 Speed regulator optimization
Connect pot with changeover switch, and oscillograph as illustrated in Fig. 2. / 15.
□ Apply small reference changes (at no-load if possible). The current should not reach the current limit during acceleration.
□ Observe output voltage of speed regulator (= Iref). lf the R-C network is optimal, the curve obtained should correspond to that shown in
Fig. 2. / 16.
□ In the case of deviations, optimize control response by adjusting pot R5/AF 6002:
lf Iref is oscillating (see Fig. 2. / 17): turn pot R5 counterclockwise (proportional amplification smaller).
If the dynamic response is slow (Fig. 2. / 18): turn pot R5 clockwise (proportional amplification larger).
If the control response cannot be optimized by adjusting pot R5/AF 6002, the R-C network R89/AF 6002 and C31/AF 6002 have to be modified:
remove R89/2 and C31/2 and connect variable R-C sources. Determine the required resistance of R89 and the required capacitance of C31.
Solder in the required resistor and capacitor while the unit is switched off.

2.6.6 "Speed lower than min. speed” signal
The min. value at which the signal is supplied depends on resistor R190/AF 6002 (PCB area: monitoring):
Fig. 2. / 19
□ Determine value of resistor R190/AF 6002 and solder in; check threshold value.
The zero-speed signal can be combined with the “speed reached” signal, so that zero-speed detection becomes a zero-speed logic. This means
that the signal nfb = nref = 0 is initiated, if both the speed feedback and speed reference have fallen below the respective signal threshold,
If a reference larger than the threshold value is preset, the zero-speed signal is suppressed again.
V 411
The speed feedback is compared with the speed reference. As soon as the deviation becomes smaller than value adjusted by means of
R191/AF 6002, the “Speed reached” signal is provided:
Relay driver outputs X1:26 and X18:2 “1” = +20 V to +30 V
As delivered by ABB :
lf the signal "Current at limit" or "Overcurrent" is not required, speed monitoring is possible as alternative.
Activation of the monitor: jumper 110/AF 6002 to be removed and resistor R215/AF 6002 to be soldered in by user,
resistor R93/AF 6002 must not be soldered in.
