*In this chapter you will also learn an + dative + vorbei. It means ‘to go past or go on by’

Even though it indicates movement from 1 location to another, ‘bei’ is a dative preposition, so
‘vorbei’ takes the dative case.

eg: an der Kirche vorbei – to go past the church / to go on by the church

am Bahnhof vorbei – to go past the train station / to go on by the train station
am Museum vorbei – to go past the museum / to go on by the museum
H. Contractions
Some prepositions and definite articles contract. It makes them easier to say as they ‘roll off the
tongue’ more readily!
