Eine kaskadenartige Treppe verbindet alle Ebenen des Bürohau­
ses „Salt“ am Amsterdamer Minervahafen. Mit ihren versetzten,
holzverkleideten Läufen ist sie als skulpturales Objekt im Raum
gestaltet. Die großzügige Treppenlandschaft dient nicht nur der
Erschließung, sondern soll auch zufällige Begegnungen fördern
und zu informellen Gesprächen einladen. Als Gemeinschaftszone
ist sie wesentlicher Bestandteil des Gebäudekonzepts, das auf
kleinere und mittelgroße Unternehmen aus der Kreativbranche
zugeschnitten ist. Im weitgespannten Stahlbetonraster bietet der
fünfgeschossige Kubus offene Grundrisse, die als Großraumbüros
nutzbar sind oder sich in kleinere Einheiten unterteilen lassen.
An der Südseite sind allen Obergeschossen breite Balkone vor­
gelagert, während sich im Erdgeschoss
4 4 das Foyer und die Stell­
plätze der Nutzer befinden. Die Fassaden sind aus 5übereinander

gesetzten, vorgefertigten Stahlbetonelementen gefügt, deren Ver­
glasungen mit unterschiedlichen Sprossenteilungen das strenge
Raster auflockern. Die Sichtbetonflächen sowie die offen geführten
Leitungen und Lüftungsrohre verleihen den Büroräumen eine
robuste Rohbauästhetik, die den Nutzern große Freiheiten bis hin
zur Gestaltung der Wandoberflächen bietet. CF
A cascade-like set of stairs connects all levels of the “Salt” office
building, located nearby Amsterdam's Minerva Port. Its offset,
wood-clad flights make it appear like a sculptural object within
the building. The ­spacious stair landscape not only serves to
access the upper floors of the building, but is also intended to
facilitate incidental encounters and informal chats. As a commu-
nity area, it is a significant element of the building concept. It is
optimized for small and medium-size businesses in the creative
industry. The reinforced concrete grid with its wide spans offers
open floor plans within a five story cube-shaped volume. These
can be used as open-plan offices or can be subdivided into
smaller units. Along the southern perimeter, all upper floors fea-
ture wide balconies. Foyer and parking are located on the
ground floor. The facades consist of stacked prefabricated rein-
forced concrete elements. They f­eature glazed sections with a
variety of dimensions and partitions that playfully alternate the
rigid grid structure. The reinforced concrete surfaces as well as
the open ductwork provide the office spaces with a robust and
rough aesthetic. Users have a large degree of freedom to indi-
vidually customize spaces and surfaces. CF
