1 Disassemble the cover plates in front of the test plates in order to expose the slotted holes
for the calibration device.
2 Mount the calibration device (A) and make sure that it is pushed in as far as possible into the
slotted holes.

Danger of damage and personal injury!


If the device is not properly locked, it could loosen during the calibration process.

3 Place the load cell (H) below the spindle (B), using a shim (J) for secure holding. Rotate the
spindle far enough down so that the load cell is under slight tension and the test plate has
been pressed down approx. 1 mm.

4 When in the node overview of the current LON Manager, change to node information by
double clicking node № 9 "MAH SA3S" and in the following window to the calibration menu.
5 Use <F6> to do the zero point calibration, also set the display of the load cell to "0". (Use
<F7> to switch between kg and N.)
6 Using the spindle, press the plate down until a value of 5000 N is reached.

7 Compare the load cell reading with the screen reading. If the deviation exceeds 250 Nm
(= ±5 %), perform the calibration. Otherwise continue.
Exit this menu item with <Esc> and change to the menu bar with the item "Determine
damping" by pressing the arrow-down key twice. Select this menu item.
8 Using the spindle, press the plate down so far that the mechanical retaining pad (C) can be
locked. Then release the spindle and remove the load cell.
Unlock by slightly hitting the release button (D) and let the test plate oscillate.
9 The software now determines automatically the internal damping and natural frequency of
one side of the tester. Target value of the internal damping: 10…200 Ns/m.
10 If the natural frequency is outside the tolerance range, perform the complete calibration.
Target value of the natural frequency: 7.00 ±0.05 Hz.
11 Repeat steps 1 to 10 on the other side of the tester. After completion, remove the calibration
device from the tester.
12 Finally adjust the zero point again, re-mount the cover plates and do an operational check.
Example: Stand on the test plates and check the displayed body weight.

3 Attach the vernier caliper holder (E) with the magnets (F) to the center plate of the tester.
Make sure that the magnets are attached to a smooth surface and not on the diamond tread
pattern, and that they are securely fixed.

4 Mount the digital vernier caliper (G) to the holder and make sure that the depth gauge also
hits the test plates between the diamand tread pattern.
Lower the depth gauge to the test plates and set the caliper gauge to "0" .
5 Place the load cell (H) below the spindle (B), using a shim (J) for secure holding. Rotate the
spindle far enough down so that the load cell is under slight tension and the test plate has
been pressed down approx. 1 mm.

9 Change to the next menu bar using the arrow-down key. On the appropriate tester side enter
"30 mm" in the target value box and using <F5> or <F6> calibrate the amplitude.
Afterwards, turn the spindle back until the load cell is under slight tension and the test plate
is pressed down approx. 1 mm.
10 As the next step, load the test plate with 400 kg / 4000 N / 4 kN (depending upon the version
of the load cell display).
11 On the appropriate tester side (depending on the preset unit, see step 7) enter "400 kg"
and/or "4000 N" in the target value box and calibrate the weight using <F7> or <F8>.
Afterwards, turn the spindle back until the load cell is under slight tension and the test plate
is pressed down approx. 1 mm.

12 Change to the next menu bar using the arrow-down key and select the menu item
"Determine spring constant".
Using the spindle, head for the individual measurement points (200 N, 2000 N, 4000 N…),
enter the values in the target value box and confirm the entry with <F5>.
The travel, the force difference, the travel distance and the spring constant are then
automatically determined.
13 After all 6 measurement points have been completed and stored, the software calculates the
current average value of the spring constant. Target value: 340000…360000. Store the
determined value with <F8> .
Exit this menu item with <Esc> and change to the menu bar with the item "Determine
damping" by pressing the arrow-down key twice. Select this menu item.
14 Using the spindle, press the plate down so far that the mechanical retaining pad (C) can be
locked. Then release the spindle and remove the load cell.
Unlock by slightly hitting the release button (D) and let the test plate oscillate.

15 The software now determines automatically the internal damping and natural frequency of
one side of the tester. Target value of the internal damping: 10…200 Ns/m. Store with <F8>.
16 If the natural frequency is outside of the tolerance range, remove the center plate of the test
stand. Threaded rods with round compensation discs are located on the inner side of the
oscillating plates (below the test plates)

Set the natural frequency of the tester side to a target value of 7.00 ±0.05 Hz by removing or
adding compensation discs.
17 Repeat steps 1 to 16 on the other side of the tester. After completion, remove the calibration
device from the tester.
Then select the menu item "Determine crank stroke", start the measurement with <F5> and
store with <F8>. The crank stroke is automatically determined on both sides simultaneously.
18 Finally adjust the zero point again, re-mount the cover plates and do an operational check.
Example: Stand on the test plates and check the displayed body weight.
