Grammatical terms in German:

Coordinating Conjunction: Coordinating conjunctions are conjunctions that do

not affect the word order of the sentence while connecting words, phrases or
clauses.
For Example; Ich mag Bananen, Äpfel und Birnen.
Subordinating Conjunction: Subordinating conjunctions provoke a Nebensatz
that receives a new word order and more importantly, it cannot stand on its own
but always needs a Hauptsatz. As mentioned, the sentence structure changes
when introduced by a subordinating conjunction.
For Example; Ich will wissen, ob du auch kommst.

der Hauptsatz: A main clause generally consists of a subject and a conjugated

verb. It is a self-contained sentence which may stand alone. In a simple statement
sentence the verb is the second idea.
der Nebensatz: A subordinate clause cannot normally stand alone. It is dependent
on a superordinate main clause or another subordinate clause.
For Example;
Nicole ist in Deutschland, weil er Problem mit seinen Eltern hat.
Hauptsatz Nebensatz
Subject + Verb + ........ + , + weil + Subject + ....................p. + Verb.
Wenn (When / If)
- Subordinating Conjunction
- Real Condition sentences : The condition is definitely possible or generally
truth. ZB; Wenn es regnet, nehme ich den Bus.
- Unreal condition sentences : The condition is probably / definitely possible
or Imaginary situations. In German, this kind of sentences are also known as
“ Konjunktiv II “. ZB; Wenn ich Geld hätte, würde ich eine Reise machen.

Hauptsatz vor dem Nebensatz

Ich bin müde, wenn ich nach Hause komme.

Subject + Verb + ..... + , + Wenn + Subject + ..... + Verb

Nebensatz vor dem Hauptsatz

Wenn ich nach Hause komme, bin ich müde.
Wenn + Subject + ..... + Verb + , + Verb + Subject + Verb
