Zweckbestimmung

Flexible Ureterorenoskope (Faser- und
Videoendoskope) dienen der endoskopischen
Darstellung des Nierenhohlsystems zur Diagnostik
und Therapie. Flexible Ureterorenoskope mit
integriertem Arbeitskanal ermöglichen den Einsatz
von flex. Hilfsinstrumenten wie z.B. Zangen,
Steinfangkörbchen,…etc., Koagulationselektroden
und Laserfasern zur Lithotripsie bzw. zur Ablation
von benignem/malignem Gewebe. Mit dem flex.
Ureterorenoskop können alle Nierenkelche, sowie
der pyeloureterale Übergang ggf. der Ureter
visualisiert/therapiert werden. Die Besonderheit
des flex. Ureterorenoskops besteht darin, dass es
ebenfalls perkutan über einen Operationsschaft
eingesetzt werden kann und auch antegrad alle
Nierenkelche, sowie der pyeloureterale Übergang
ggf. der Ureter behandelt werden können.
Flexible Ureterorenoskope sind zur kurzzeitigen
Anwendung bei natürlich invasiven bzw. chirurgisch
invasiven Eingriffen bestimmt.

Flexible Video-Choledochoskope dienen zum
Ausleuchten des Gallengangs und zur Schaffung
eines Arbeits- bzw. Spülkanals in der diagnos-
tischen und operativen Choledochoskopie. Flexible
Video- Choledochoskope sind zur kurzzeitigen
Anwendung bei chirurgisch-invasiven Eingriffen
bestimmt.
Videoendoskope sind Anwenderteile, die nur
mit den von KARL|STORZ dafür vorgesehenen
Versorgungsgeräten (Kamerakontroll-Einheiten,
Lichtquellen) verwendet werden dürfen.

Intended Use

Flexible uretero-renoscopes (fiber endoscopes and
videoscopes) are used for endoscopic imaging
of the renal collecting system for the purposes of
diagnosis and treatment. Flexible uretero-reno-
scopes with an integrated working channel allow
for the use of flexible auxiliary instruments such as
forceps, stone baskets etc., coagulation electrodes
and laser fibers for lithotripsy or for the ablation of
benign/malignant tissue. The flexible uretero-reno-
scope can be used for the imaging/treatment of all
renal calices, as well as the pyeloureteral junction
or the ureter. The special feature of the flexible
uretero-renoscope lies in the fact that it can also be
used percutaneously via an operating sheath, and
can be used in antegrade mode to treat all renal
calices as well as the pyeloureteral junction or the
ureter.
Flexible uretero-renoscopes are designed for short-
term use in endoscopic interventions performed
through natural orifices or surgical invasive inter-
ventions.

Flexible video choledochoscopes are used in diag-
nostic and operative choledochoscopy to illuminate
the bile duct and to create a working or irrigation
channel. Flexible video choledochoscopes are
designed for short-term use in surgical invasive
interventions.
Video endoscopes are applied parts, which should
only be used with the designated supply units
approved by KARL|STORZ (camera control units,
light sources).

Uso previsto

Los urétero-renoscopios flexibles (videoendos-
copios y endoscopios de fibra) sirven para la
presentación endoscópica del sistema pielocalicial
con fines diagnósticos y terapéuticos. Los urétero-
renoscopios flexibles con canal de trabajo integra-
do permiten utilizar instrumentos auxiliares flexibles,
como p. ej. pinzas, cestillas para extracción de cál-
culos, etc., además de electrodos de coagulación
y fibras de láser para la litotripsia o la ablación de
tejidos benignos/malignos. Con el uretéro-renos-
copio flexible se pueden visualizar/tratar todos los
cálices renales, así como la unión pieloureteral y,
en su caso, el uréter. Una característica particular
del urétero-renoscopio flexible es su posible apli-
cación percutánea mediante una vaina quirúrgica
y el tratamiento anterógrado de todos los cálices
renales, así como de la unión pieloureteral y, en su
caso, del uréter.
Los urétero-renoscopios flexibles están previstos
para aplicaciones breves en intervenciones invasi-
vas a través de orificios naturales e intervenciones
quirúrgicas invasivas

Los coledoco-videoscopios flexibles sirven para ilu-
minar las vías biliares y para generar un canal de
trabajo y/o de irrigación en la coledocoscopia dia-
gnóstica o quirúrgica. Los coledoco-videoscopios
flexibles están previstos para aplicaciones breves
en intervenciones quirúrgicas invasivas.
Los videoendoscopios son piezas de aplicación
que pueden utilizarse únicamente con los apa-
ratos de alimentación (unidades de control de
cámara, fuentes de luz) previstos al efecto por
KARL|STORZ.

r Diagnostik und Therapie von Harnsteinen im
Harnleiter bzw. Nierenhohlsystem
r Diagnostik und Therapie von Harnleiterstrikturen
bzw. –tumoren
r Iatrogen eingebrachtes Fremdmaterial
r Enge pyeloureteraler Übergang

Kontraindikationen
11278 V/VU:
Der Einsatz der Uretero(reno)skope ist dann kontra-
indiziert, wenn nach Einschätzung des behandeln-
den Arztes die OP-Methode kontraindiziert ist oder
aufgrund des Allgemeinzustands des Patienten die
OP- bzw. Narkosefähigkeit nicht gegeben ist.

indicated if uretero(reno)scopy is indicated in the
opinion of the attending physician.
This includes:
r Further diagnostic measures in the event of
conspicuous imaging/filling defects in the upper
urinary tract shown in the imaging
r Pathological bladder-wash cytology without
reference to bladder tumors or from the upper
urinary tract
r Unclear haematuria (macro/microhaematuria)

Anleitung gegebenen Hinweise dienen lediglich
der korrekten Handhabung und Aufbereitung der
Videoendoskope.
Sie sind nicht zur Einführung in die Technik der
Renoskopie bzw. Choledochoskopie geeignet.

flexible Video-Choledochoscopes must be used

procedures of endoscopy.
NOTE: The patient leakage current limit of the CF
applied parts may be exceeded if CF applied parts
(application on heart) are used in combination with
other BF applied parts.
In this case, the patient leakage current should be
reduced by using only CF applied parts as far this

Contaminated Videoendoscopes may cause seri-
ous or life-threatening illnesses during transporta-
tion or on delivery to the recipient. Defective Video-
endoscopes with attached pressure compensation
cap must be wiped down with disinfectant and, if
necessary, sterilized before shipment. Complete
the repairs form.
WARNING: If a malfunction should occur during
application on a patient, stop the application imme-
diately. Place the distal tip of the Videoendoscope
in the neutral, nondeƃected position and remove
the video endoscope slowly and carefully from the
patient.
CAUTION: Do not expose the Videoendoscopes to
direct sunlight or excessive heat, to avoid damage
to the device.
CAUTION: Do not steam sterilize (autoclave) the
Videoendoscopes.
CAUTION: The maximum permissible temperature
for decontamination, sterilization, transport and
storage is 65 °C.

Performing the leakage test – dry
The connection tube of the leakage tester and the
vent port on the endoscope must be dry. Connect
the leakage tester connector securely to the
supply connector vent port and lock by turning the
bayonet catch 25° clockwise.

Inflate the leakage tester until the maximum test
pressure of 160–180 mmHg (blue area) is reached.
The deflection rubber on the distal end may
expand slightly. Using the deflection mechanism
on the control body, move the deflection part in all
possible directions as far as possible and observe
the pointer on the manometer. The test pressure
can drop by up to 10 mmHg until the endoscope is
completely filled with air.
After stabilizing the pressure on manometer, wait
at least 2 minutes to see whether the pressure
remains constant or drops.

device. If, after an observation period of at least

(continuously) from the device and, in addition, the
manometer does not show a fall in pressure, the
device is leak-proof.
Remove the endoscope from the liquid and press
the vent button on the manometer. The test
pressure must drop to 0 before the leakage tester
can be removed.

Limitación de la repreparación
El fin de la vida útil del producto viene determinado
esencialmente por su desgaste, por los procesos de
preparación y los productos químicos utilizados y por
los posibles deterioros causados por su utilización.
Almacenamiento
La elección del almacenamiento deberá realizarse
de acuerdo con las reglamentaciones específicas
de cada país.
Para endoscopios solamente descontaminados,
KARL STORZ recomienda un almacenamiento
suspendido y protegido contra el polvo.
Para endoscopios esterilizados es posible
un almacenamiento en horizontal. Para ello,
KARL STORZ recomienda una bandeja para
esterilización y almacenamiento especialmente
prevista al efecto.

Instandsetzung
Die Instandsetzung von defekten Instrumenten darf
nur durch von uns autorisierte Personen und unter
Verwendung von Originalteilen erfolgen.
Wartung
Eine vorbeugende Wartung ist nicht zwingend
erforderlich. Regelmäßige Wartungen können aber
dazu beitragen, eventuelle Störungen frühzeitig zu
erkennen und so die Sicherheit und Lebensdauer
des Instruments zu erhöhen.
Wartungsdienste können bei Ihrer zuständigen
Gebietsvertretung oder beim Hersteller erfragt
werden. Unabhängig von den in den verschie-
denen Ländern vorgeschriebenen Unfallver-
hütungsvorschriften oder Prüfungsintervallen für
Medizingeräte empfehlen wir eine Funktions- oder
Sicherheitsprüfung des Gerätes mindestens einmal
im Jahr.
Verantwortlichkeit
Als Lieferant dieses Instrumentes betrach-
ten wir|uns für die Sicherheit, Zuverlässigkeit
und Leistung des Instrumentes nur dann als
verantwortlich, wenn:
Montage, Erweiterung, Neueinstellungen,
Änderungen oder Reparaturen durch von
KARL|STORZ autorisierte Personen durchgeführt
werden und das Instrument in Übereinstimmung
mit der Gebrauchsanweisung verwendet wird.

Servicing and repair
Defective items of equipment must be serviced and
repaired exclusively by persons authorized by us;
all repair work must employ original parts.
Maintenance
Preventive maintenance is not essential. Regular
maintenance can, however, contribute to
identifying potential problems before they become
serious, enhancing the instrument’s reliability and
extending its useful operating life.
Maintenance services can be obtained from your
local representative or from the manufacturer.
Regardless of the accident prevention regulations
or testing intervals for medical devices prescribed
in different countries, we recommend a functional
or safety test of the unit at least once a year.
Limitation of liability
KARL|STORZ SE  Co. KG shall be liable for
failure or deterioration in the safe operation,
operational reliability, and performance of this
equipment only subject to the conditions that
all assembly, operations, system expansions,
readjustments, modifications, or repairs to same
have been performed by KARL|STORZ, and that
the instrument has been used in accordance with
its operating instructions at all times.

Warranty
The guarantees provided can be found in the
Standard Conditions of Business of KARL|STORZ.
The medical device must always be sent to your
local subsidiary (see “Subsidiaries” section), even
during the warranty period.
Opening the equipment or performance of any
repairs or modifications to the equipment by
unauthorized persons shall relieve us of any liability
for its performance. Any such opening, repair, or
modification performed during the warranty period
shall void all warranty.
Directive compliance
This medical device bears the CE mark in
accordance with the Medical Device Directive
(MDD) 93/42/EEC. A code number after the
CE|mark indicates the responsible notified body.

To avoid the spread of infectious illnesses among
hospital staff or among KARL|STORZ employees,
telescopes, instruments and equipment must
be|cleaned and sterilized/disinfected before they
are|sent for repair. We reserve the right to return
contaminated instruments/equipment to the
sender.
Repairs, changes or expansions which are
not carried out by KARL|STORZ or by experts
authorized by KARL|STORZ will invalidate all
warranty rights.
KARL|STORZ gives no warranty on the correct
functioning of equipment or instruments which
have been repaired by unauthorized third parties.
Disposal
To dispose of Videoendoscopes, no special
measures are necessary. National laws and
regulations must be observed.
