(Meeting Time 1- Work Period 1)

I. Objectives:
A. Content Standard
The child demonstrates an understanding of characteristics and growth of common
plants.
B. Performance Standard
The child shall be able to communicate the usefulness of plants and practice ways to
care for them.
C. Most Essential Learning Competency
Group plants according to certain characteristics, e.g., parts, kind, habitat. PNEKP-IIb-8
II. Subject Matter
Science
Materials: Realia, pictures, chart, colored chalk, crayons

III. Learning Procedure


A. Preparatory Activity/ Arrival Time
*Prayer
* Checking of Attendance
* Action Songs
B. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson.
Ask: What are the different plants that can be seen in our environment?

C. Establishing the purpose for the lesson


Activity: Show pictures of the following: mango, guava, eggplant, tomato
Ask: Where can we see this kind of plants? (Garden)
Aside from the garden, where can we see these plants?
D. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson

Concept Map

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #1

Ask: What have you seen inside the circle? What plant is this? What have
you seen in that particular plant? (Leaves)

Ask: What are the colors of the leaves? How many leaves have you seen?
Do all leaves have green color?
What other leaves have you seen?
Activity 1: Teacher shows the following and asks;
1. Different kinds of leaves. Ask what kind of leaves are they.
2. Flowers. What is the color of the flower? Do you have a favorite? What
flower is that? What plants have you seen that have flowers?
3. Eggplant. What is the beginning sound of the word eggplant? Is the
stem of this plant hard or soft? Have you seen the roots? What can
you say? Is this a fruit or a vegetable? Is it needed for you to eat
vegetables? Why?
4. Fruits of guava, mango, banana. Let them tell the names and identify
the beginning sound of the word.
5. Teacher says the different parts of the pant.

Group Activity

Group 1: Cut the picture of plants and paste it in the corresponding box
with same plant in it.
Group 2: Draw different plants and color it with crayons.
Group 3: Plant Mosaic
G. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in Daily Living

Ask: Why do plants important in our lives? What do they give to people?
What are the things we need to do to the plants? We need to take care of
them, water the plants and let them absorb sunlight.

H. Making Generalizations and Abstract About the Lesson


Activity: Cover All (Different parts of the plants)

Direction: Match the part of the plants to its corresponding name.
