1 Anwendungsbereich
Diese Norm gilt für Gehäuse zur Aufnahme von elektrischen Geräteeinsätzen, wie z. B. Schalter, Steckdosen
und Verbindungsklemmen. Gehäuse nach dieser Norm sind anreihbar. Diese Norm gilt für Gehäuse, die im
Innen- und Außenbereich auf Wasserfahrzeugen der Deutschen Marine eingesetzt werden.

1 Scope
This standard applies to casings to house electrical devices, such as switches, sockets and connection
terminals. Casings according to this standard are mountable side by side. This standard applies to casings
used indoors and outdoors on vessels of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy).

3 Begriffe
Für die Anwendung dieses Dokuments gelten die Begriffe nach DIN EN 60670-1 und die folgenden Begriffe.
3.1
Gehäuse
Kombination von Unterteil und Deckel, die nach Zusammenbau und Installation wie im bestimmungsgemäßen
Gebrauch einen geeigneten Schutz gegen äußere Einflüsse darstellen und einen definierten Schutz gegen
das Berühren von eingeschlossenen aktiven Teilen aus jeder zugänglichen Richtung bieten

4.1 Allgemeines
Die Werkstoffe müssen den Anforderungen dieser Norm und der jeweiligen Bauartnorm entsprechen. Wenn
anwendbar, muss die Auswahl des Werkstoffs nach den Anforderungen der Boots/Schiffsklasse erfolgen. Die
verwendeten Werkstoffe müssen im Hersteller-Datenblatt dokumentiert sein.
Bei Verwendung von unterschiedlichen Metallen ist sicherzustellen, dass keine elektrochemische Korrosion
auftreten kann.
Der Werkstoff muss nach dem vorgesehenen Einbauort des Gehäuses ausgewählt werden, siehe Tabelle 1.

4 Material requirements
4.1 General
The materials shall meet the requirements of this standard and the respective detail specification. If
applicable, the choice of materials shall be performed according to the requirements of the boat/ship classes.
The materials used shall be documented in the manufacturer’s specification sheet.
When using different types of metals, it shall be ensured that no electrochemical corrosion can occur.
The material shall be selected in accordance with installation location, see Table 1.

Zulässige Werkstoffarten sind in Tabelle 2 festgelegt. Bei Verwendung von nichtrostendem Stahl müssen die
Anforderungen der Merkblätter Nr 825 (Elektropolieren und Polieren), Nr 826 (Beizen) und Nr 830 (Einsatz in
chloridhaltigen Wässern) der „Informationsstelle Edelstahl Rostfrei“ beachtet werden.

Permitted material types are stipulated in Table 2. If using non-rusting steel, the requirements in Information
Sheets No. 825 (Electropolishing and polishing), No. 826 (Pickling) and No. 830 (Use in chloride-containing
waters) from “Informationsstelle Edelstahl Rostfrei” shall be observed.
Table 2 — Permitted material types
The connection space for the electrical cables to be connected shall be dimensioned such that the cores can
be connected in accordance with the regulations.
If applicable, the requirements according to Clause 5 also apply to casings fitted for operation.

Die Festlegungen zu äußerem Aufbau, Maßen und Masse sind in der für das jeweilige Gehäuse geltenden
Bauartnorm enthalten.
Die erforderlichen Luft- und Kriechstrecken sowie Montageabstände müssen mindestens den Anforderungen
für die Bemessung der Luft- und Kriechstrecken elektrischer Betriebsmittel bei Verschmutzungsgrad 3 nach
DIN EN 60664-1 (VDE 0110-1) entsprechen.
5.5 Schutzleiteranschluss
Die Massung darf über die Befestigungsschrauben oder über einen separaten Anschlusspunkt erfolgen. Für
Gehäuse aus Metall oder aus Kunststoff mit Metallteilen kann in der jeweiligen Bauartnorm ein geeigneter
Anschlusspunkt zur niederimpedanten Verbindung des Gehäuses oder seiner Metallteile mit der
Fahrzeugstruktur (Massung) außen am Gehäuse gefordert sein. Prüfung durch Besichtigung.
5.7 Schutzgrad
Der zulässige Schutzgrad nach DIN EN 60529 (VDE 0470-1) ist vom Einbauort abhängig und muss nach
Tabelle 2 ausgewählt werden.
Das Gehäuse muss den bei der Deutschen Marine zur Reinigung eingesetzten Chemikalien sowie einer
Beanspruchung durch Öl und Kraftstoff standhalten. Prüfung nach 6.5.

The casing shall withstand the chemicals used by the Deutsche Marine (German Navy) for cleaning purposes
as well as loads as a result of oil and fuel. Test according to 6.5.

6 Prüfungen
6.1 Allgemeines
Zusätzlich zu den Prüfungen nach DIN EN 60670-1 müssen die Gehäuse die in diesem Abschnitt
aufgeführten Prüfungen bestehen. Wenn nicht anders angegeben, erfolgt vor und nach jeder Prüfung eine
Sichtprüfung. Der Nachweis erfolgt, wenn nicht anders angegeben oder vereinbart, durch ein Prüfzeugnis.
Wenn nicht anders festgelegt, werden Gehäuse im Lieferzustand geprüft. Betriebsfertig ausgerüstete
Gehäuse müssen nach dieser Norm und nach Bauartnorm geprüft werden.
So weit in dem jeweiligen Prüfverfahren nicht anders festgelegt, gelten die folgenden Prüfbedingungen:
Lufttemperatur: (23 ± 5) °C
Luftdruck: 86 kPa bis 106 kPa (860 mbar bis 1 060 mbar)
Die Temperatur und die relative Luftfeuchte müssen während der Messung konstant bleiben.
6.3 Prüfmittel
Die bei den Prüfungen und im Rahmen der Qualitätssicherung verwendeten Mess- und Prüfmittel müssen den
Anforderungen der Normen der Reihe DIN EN 60051 entsprechen und einer Prüfmittelüberwachung
unterliegen.
Das mit dem nach Bauartnorm vorgesehenen elektrischen Geräteeinsatz betriebsfertig ausgerüstete Gehäuse
wird mit Nennspannung betrieben (bestimmungsgemäßer Betrieb). Die Prüfung gilt als bestanden, wenn das
ausgerüstete Gehäuse vor, während und nach der Prüfung seine bestimmungsgemäße Funktion erfüllt und
keine Beschädigung aufweist, durch die die Sicherheit beeinträchtigt wird.

5.10 Inscriptions
6 Tests
6.1 General
In addition to the tests according to DIN EN 60670-1, the casings shall pass the tests defined in this clause. If
not stipulated otherwise, a sight inspection shall be performed before and after each test. Unless stated or
agreed otherwise, proof shall be provided by a test certificate.
Unless stated otherwise, the casings are tested in their condition on delivery. Casings fitted for operation shall
be tested according to this standard and according to the detail specification.
Unless stated otherwise in the respective test procedure, the following test requirements apply:
relative humidity: 45 % to 75 %
The temperature and the relative humidity shall remain constant during measuring.
The measuring and test devices used for the inspections and as part of the quality assurance shall meet the
requirements of the standards of series DIN EN 60051 and be subject to test device monitoring.
The casing, fitted with the electrical devices intended according to the detail specification and in accordance
with the regulations, is operated with the nominal voltage (operation in accordance with the regulations). The
test shall be regarded as having been passed, if the fitted casing fulfils the function for which it is intended,
before, during and after the test and does not show any signs of damage that could impair the safety.

Als Prüflinge dürfen Fertigteile (Gehäuse, Deckel) oder Werkstoffstücke verwendet werden. Prüfling und
Prüfmittel sind auf eine Temperatur von 40 °C zu erwärmen. Nach der Beanspruchung sind die Prüfmittelreste
vollständig zu entfernen und der Prüfling gegebenenfalls zu trocknen.
6.5.2 Durchführung
Die Prüfung erfolgt mit den Prüfmitteln nach Tabelle 8. Das Prüfmittel wird mit einem Pinsel auf den Prüfling
aufgetragen. Für jedes Prüfmittel ist ein neuer Prüfling zu verwenden. Der vollständig benetzte Prüfling wird
für 24 h bei Raumtemperatur gelagert.
Die Prüfungen erfolgen nach den in Tabelle 9 angegebenen Verfahren und nach Bauartnorm.
ANMERKUNG Die Auswahl der Eigenschaften und der Anforderungen erfolgte unter Berücksichtigung der
entsprechenden Festlegungen für elektrische Kabel und Leitungen nach VG 95218-2.

Test specimens may be finished parts (casings, lids) or pieces of the material. Test specimens and test
agents shall be heated to a temperature of 40 °C. After exposure, the test agent residues shall be fully
removed and the test specimen dried, if necessary.
6.5.2 Execution
The test is performed with the test agents according to Table 8. The test agent is applied to the test specimen
with a brush. A new test specimen shall be used for each test agent. The fully wetted test specimen is stored
at room temperature for 24 h.
The tests shall be performed in accordance with the procedure given in Table 9 and according to the detail
specification.
NOTE The selection of properties and requirements was performed taking into consideration the respective regulations
for electrical cables and lines according to VG 95218-2.

7 Typprüfungen
7.1 Allgemeines
Für die Typprüfung und die Zulassung gelten VG 95211 und die nachstehenden Festlegungen.
Die Typprüfung wird in Abstimmung mit der Wehrtechnischen Dienststelle für Schiffe und Marinewaffen
WTD 71 in Kiel5) durchgeführt.
Die Typprüfung umfasst die in Abschnitt 6 festgelegten Prüfungen sowie die Erstellung des abschließenden
Prüfberichts. Sie gilt als abgeschlossen mit dem Versand des Abschlussberichts durch die Prüfstelle. Die
Anzahl und die Konfiguration der Prüflinge sowie der Prüfaufbau sind mit der Prüfstelle zu vereinbaren. Die
Art und gegebenenfalls die Reihenfolge der Prüfungen für die einzelnen Komponenten sind, wenn
erforderlich, in der jeweiligen Bauartnorm angegeben.
Tritt bei einer Prüfung ein Fehler auf, so darf die Prüfung mit neuen Prüflingen vollständig wiederholt werden.
Tritt erneut ein Fehler auf, so gilt die Prüfung als nicht bestanden. Die Zulassung wird nicht erteilt.

7 Type inspections
7.1 General
For type inspections and approvals, VG 95211 and the following stipulations apply.
Type inspections are carried out in co-ordination with Wehrtechnische Dienststelle für Schiffe und
Marinewaffen WTD 71 in Kiel5).
Type inspections comprise the tests stipulated in Clause 6 as well as drawing up a final test report. A type
inspection is deemed having been completed when the test centre sends out the final report. The number and
the configuration of the test specimens as well as the test assembly shall be agreed on with the test centre.
The type and, if applicable, the order of the tests for the individual components are, if required, given in the
relevant detail specification.
If a failure occurs during a test, the entire test may be repeated with new test specimens. If a failure occurs
again, the test is deemed failed. Approval is not issued.

Wird die Prüfung eines Qualitätsmerkmals durch irgendeinen Umstand unterbrochen, so ist die Fortführung
oder Wiederholung dieser Prüfung zwischen Hersteller und Prüfstelle zu vereinbaren. Vorliegende
Zwischenergebnisse dürfen gewertet werden.
Erteilung und Geltungsdauer der Zulassung nach VG 95211 und nach Bauartnorm. Im Regelfall wird die
Zulassung für fünf Jahre erteilt, unter der Voraussetzung, dass die Anforderung nach Abschnitt 7 erfüllt wird.
8 Qualitätssicherung
Der Auftragnehmer muss ein Qualitätssicherungssystem mindestens nach DIN EN ISO 9001 unterhalten.

If the test of a quality criterion is interrupted for any reason whatsoever, the manufacturer and test centre shall
agree to continue or repeat the test. Existing interim results may be used.
Issuance and period of validity of the approval according to VG 95211 and the detail specification. Generally,
approval is issued for five years, on condition that the requirements according to Clause 7 are met.
8 Quality assurance
The contractor shall maintain a quality assurance system at least according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
