Eine freie Parzelle in der Ortsmitte von Tuttlingen-Möhringen, die
allseitig von Satteldachhäusern umgeben ist, nutzten die Archi-
tekten zu einer Nachverdichtung mit einem Einfamilienhaus.
So überraschend wie der asymmetrische Baukörper und seine
Hülle aus schwarzem Polyethylengewebe sind auch die Grund-
rissstruktur und die hybride Konstruktion des Hauses: Das Trag-
werk bilden zwei sich kreuzende Stahlbetonscheiben, um die
sich die Wohnebenen stufenweise nach oben staffeln, während
die Fassaden in Holzrahmenbauweise und das Dach als sicht-
bares Sparrendach ausgeführt sind.
Der Entwurf wurde aus dem Grundstückszuschnitt, der
optimalen Orientierung zur Sonne und der Topografie entwi-
ckelt: Um drei Meter steigt das Gelände von Ost nach West an,

roofs, the architects created a single-family house as an
urban-compaction scheme. Just as surprising as the asymmetric
form of the structure and its black polythene fabric outer skin are
the layout on plan and the hybrid form of construction. The
load-bearing structure is based on two reinforced concrete
cross-walls that intersect in the middle. About these, the dwell-
ing levels rise in a series of steps. The facades were executed
with timber framing, and the roof is a rafter construction.
The design is based on the configuration of the site, an
optimum orientation to the sun and the topography: the land
rises by three metres from east to west, so that the building is

sodass der Baukörper auf der Eingangsseite zweigeschossig ist,
zum Garten nach Westen jedoch nur ein Geschoss hat. Auch
die innere Ordnung entwickelt sich aus dem Geländeversprung:
Die beiden tragenden Stahlbetonscheiben gliedern das Haus
und teilen es in vier Segmente, die zugleich die abgestuften
Ebenen darstellen. Von der Eingangsplattform führt der Weg
über offene Treppen zu den Wohn- und Essräumen und weiter
hinauf zu den Schlafzimmern und der Dachterrasse. Das groß-
zügige Raumkontinuum bietet nicht nur stets neue Aus- und
Durchblicke; durch die unterschiedlichen Raumfolgen wech-
seln auch private Rückzugsorte mit gemeinschaftlichen Berei-
chen ab.
Klar ablesbar wird die Logik der Struktur auch durch die
bewusst reduzierte Materialwahl. Die Innenräume sind geprägt
vom Kontrast des rauen Sichtbetons der Wandscheiben zu den
weißen Flächen der Außenwände sowie dem warmen Holzton
der geölten Seekieferplatten der Treppen, Einbaumöbel und
Deckenuntersichten. Farblich homogen ist dagegen das äußere
Erscheinungsbild mit der tiefschwarzen Textilfassade und dem
schwarzen Aluminiumdach. CF

side facing the garden there is just a single floor. The internal
layout also reflects the changes of level of the site: the two
load-bearing, intersecting concrete walls articulate the house,
dividing it into four stepped segments. From the entrance plat-
form, the route leads up via open flights of stairs to the living
and dining rooms, and from there on to the bedrooms and a
roof terrace. This generous spatial continuum offers not only
constantly changing perspectives out of and through the house;
the various sequences of rooms mean that places of personal
retreat alternate with realms for common use.
The logic of the structure is also clearly legible in the
­deliberately reduced range of materials. Internally, the rooms are
characterized by a contrast between the rough exposed con-
crete of the load-bearing wall slabs and the white inner faces of
the external walls, but also by the warm tone of the wood – the
oiled maritime pine used for the stairs, the inbuilt furnishings
and the soffits of the floors and roofs. The exterior, on the other
hand, is homogeneous in colour, with its black textile facade
and the black aluminium roofing. CF
